CF Byron Buxton has avoided a major injury after an MRI showed his injured hand is just a bone contusion. Buxton left Wednesday's game with the injury, which occurred when his hand slipped off the bat. Buxton had an MRI exam Thursday with the team fearing an injury to the hamate bone. But the test showed no fracture and Buxton is considered day-to-day.

I was seeing the ball good, being aggressive and not missing my pitches."

"A lot guys can play that position but he's special," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "The game is still in the balance if it gets over his head there. He shaded him that way but got an outstanding jump and closed on it. Just sheet athleticism." Buxton said: "I knew I got a got jump. I saw it well, saw it tailing away from me. It saved a double or a triple and possibly a run because 3B Nicholas Castellanos followed with a single. "We watch him every day so we have that privilege," manager Paul Molitor said. "It's just one of those things. It's really hard for me to place value on just how much he's contributed to our team. Even with a year where he's trying to grow offensively. It just brings a presence to our club when we got out on the defensive side that we just can't match with any other kind of personnel out there."

CF Byron Buxton will remain part of the outfield rotation despite the Twins' plans to have some different faces on the corner outfield spots. "He's going to play a lot,'' manager Paul Molitor said. Buxton went hitless on Wednesday to snap his seven-game hitting streak.

OF Byron Buxton was reinstated from the disabled list after missing 14 games with a groin strain and migraine headaches. Buxton leads the Twins with 16 stolen bases, but is hitting only .218. He was 1-for-3 on Tuesday.
