Fri Jun 30 202312:04Marcus Stroman To Start Saturday
Chicago Cubs right-hander Marcus Stroman (finger) will officially make the start on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians. Stroman left his last start in London early on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals with a blister on his right index finger, but it obviously wasn't that serious of an issue. The 32-year-old had a streak of seven straight quality starts before his London start, so he'll look to start a new streak in a plus matchup this weekend against Cleveland. Fantasy managers need to put him back in their starting lineups in all leagues. Stroman has been great so far this year, going 9-5 with a 2.47 ERA (3.36 FIP), 1.08 WHIP, 35 walks and 85 strikeouts in 102 innings pitched over 17 starts.

Wed Jun 28 202318:33Marcus Stroman To Throw Bullpen Session On Thursday
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday. The right-hander was pulled out of his start on Sunday due to a blister on his right index finger. This doesn't appear to be something that should force Stroman onto the injured list. The expectation is that he's going to make his next start against the Cleveland Guardians this weekend. Although, it will also be dependent on how he feels after throwing this bullpen session. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update on his status.

Tue Jun 27 202319:32Cubs Expect Marcus Stroman To Start This Weekend
The Chicago Cubs are expecting right-hander Marcus Stroman (finger) to make his next start this weekend, but they'll know for sure after he throws his usual between-starts bullpen session in the next day or two. He'll also get an extra day between starts after Monday's off day. The 32-year-old was pulled from his start early on Sunday in London against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals due to a blister on his right index finger, but it's obviously not a very serious issue. Fantasy managers should expect him to take the mound on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians, and he should remain in starting lineups. Stroman has been fantastic in his second year with the Cubbies, going 9-5 with a sharp 2.47 ERA (3.35 FIP), 1.08 WHIP, 35 walks and 85 K's in 102 innings over 17 starts.

Sun Jun 25 202313:08Marcus Stroman Exits Start Early With Blister
Updating a previous report, Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman (finger) exited Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals in London early with a blister on his right index finger. The blister had not opened up yet so the Cubs removed him before its condition worsened. It was a rough start for Stroman, prior to his departure, as he allowed six runs (three earned) on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings. There's a good chance the blister had something to do with his poor performance. The Cubs should provide another update on him following the end of the game on Sunday but fantasy managers should have a backup plan in place in case the 32-year-old hurler were to miss his next start.

Sun Jun 25 202312:00Marcus Stroman Leaves London Game Early
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman (hand) left Sunday's game against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals in London early with a trainer with one out in the fourth inning. Stroman appeared to shake his right hand after he threw his last pitch, but we'll pass along more information on what is wrong with him once we have it. In 3 1/3 frames before departing, Stroman had been shellacked for six runs on nine hits, and he walked one and struck out two to raise his season ERA to 2.74. Depending on the severity of the injury, the 32-year-old could need a trip to the injured list, but fantasy managers will want to check back for more details. Coming into Sunday's start, Stroman had been one of the best pitchers in baseball with a 9-4 record, 2.28 ERA (3.34 FIP), 1.02 WHIP, 34 walks and 83 strikeouts in 98 2/3 innings over 16 starts.

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman has been outstanding this season and continued his success on Sunday. The right-hander threw six strong innings, allowing one unearned run, while giving up four hits in the 7-1 victory. Stroman also struck out six batters, which isn't easy against this tough Padres lineup. He'll carry a 2.39 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 68/27 K/BB into his next start against the San Francisco Giants. Fantasy managers should continue to ride with the 32-year-old pitcher.

Sat May 20 202309:54Marcus Stroman Recovers From Tough Start In Rout
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman tossed six innings of one-run ball against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, allowing just five base runners in the lopsided victory. He also struck out four hitters en route to his third win. The 32-year-old bounced back from his shortest appearance of the campaign against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, enhancing his ERA to 3.04 with Friday's effort. Stroman has now withstood six innings in eight of 10 starts so far in 2023 and has yielded greater than two runs just twice. On Wednesday, the former All-Star will toe the rubber against his former New York Mets team, whose once concerning offense appears to be turning a corner in recent games.

Thu May 4 202300:21Marcus Stroman Settles For No-Decision In Wednesday's Loss
Chicago Cubs right-hander Marcus Stroman delivered six solid innings in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. Still, his effort could not secure a win, and he had to settle for a no-decision. Stroman displayed great accuracy, throwing 59 of his 92 pitches for strikes, but did allow one run on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters. Despite the disappointing result, Stroman has had a productive start to the season, as he's posted a 2.18 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 38:16 K: BB across 41 1/13 innings. The 32-year-old will look to build on Wednesday's outing in his next scheduled start Monday against the Cardinals.

Fri Apr 28 202312:12Marcus Stroman Taking On The Marlins Friday
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman will try to get back to his run of dominance when he takes the hill on Friday against Jesus Luzardo and the Miami Marlins. Stroman owns a 2.17 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a pair of wins and a would-be career-high 26.1% strikeout rate. Stroman started the season with four straight quality starts, but that ended on April 23 when he allowed five runs across five innings. The Marlins lineup isn't that intimidating, so it shouldn't be too hard for the 31-year-old to provide his third win of the season with the second-best offense in terms of wRC+ backing him up.

Fri Mar 31 202300:18Marcus Stroman Throws Opening Day Gem
Chicago Cubs right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman had an Opening Day start to remember on Thursday, shutting out the Milwaukee Brewers for six innings and earning the win. He allowed three hits and three walks while striking out eight. Stroman is coming off an up-and-down 2022 where he made only 25 starts due to injuries, but did manage a 3.50 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. He has been a fantasy asset in those two categories the past few years and is likely to do the same this season. The Stro-show was a relatively late-round selection this year and if he can keep pitching close to how he did today, that will look like a steal.

Wed Mar 22 202321:32Marcus Stroman To Start Opening Day
Chicago Cubs right-hander Marcus Stroman announced on his Twitter account on Wednesday that he will be the team's Opening Day starter in 2023. Stroman will be on the mound at home next Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers to kick off the Cubs' 148th season. In 2022, Stroman posted a 6-7 record, 3.50 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 119 strikeouts over 25 starts in what was his first season in Chicago. Stroman should serve as a solid fantasy starting pitcher heading into 2023.

Thu Feb 23 202315:05Marcus Stroman Will Start Cactus League Opener Saturday
Chicago Cubs manager David Ross announced that right-hander Marcus Stroman will make the start on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants in the team's Cactus League opener. If everything goes according to plan, Stroman should also start on Opening Day for the Cubs in his second season with the team. The 31-year-old veteran went 6-7 with a 3.50 ERA (3.76 FIP), 1.15 WHIP and 20.9 percent strikeout rate in 138 2/3 innings over his 25 starts in his first year in Chicago in 2022. Stroman had some problems with the long ball, especially at Wrigley Field, so that will be something to keep an eye on this year. The ground-ball pitcher will need to induce more ground balls in 2023 to make up for the fact that he doesn't strike out a ton of batters.

Tue Sep 27 202223:24Marcus Stroman Strong In Win
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman was strong Tuesday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk in seven innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. He earned his fifth win of the season, outdueling Zack Wheeler as the Cubs triumphed 2-1. Stroman struck out six batters. After a difficult April, Stroman has regained his signature steadiness, and he's finishing strong with four starts of at least six innings in his last five trips to the mound. He will have one more chance to improve on his 3.66 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through 132 2/3 innings and 24 starts in 2022.

Sat Jul 30 202212:42Marcus Stroman Goes Six Scoreless Innings
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman managed not to allow a run to the San Francisco Giants Friday despite scattering eight hits and a walk across his six innings of work. He struck out three batters and was credited with the win in a 4-2 contest, improving his season record to 3-5. Stroman now has a 3.99 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 62 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings across 13 starts this year. He is not a very high-upside fantasy option, but Stroman has a long track record of run prevention.
