Gosewisch left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals holding his knee after trying to run out an infield single, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Gosewisch was able to walk off the field under his own power, but this does not bode well for the catcher. He landed awkwardly on the base and started walking gingerly on his left leg. An official diagnosis should be released late Wednesday night or Thursday.

Gosewisch is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.

Gosewisch will get his second straight Sunday afternoon off, as Jordan Pacheco will be sent out to man the backstop in his stead.

Gosewich went 1-for-4 with his first homer of the year and a pair of strikeouts Saturday against the Cubs.

Gosewisch has been playing well since the signing of Jarrod Saltalamacchia, as he's 14-for-45 (.311) since May 6. He'll surely lose playing time once Salty makes his Arizona debut, so although Gosewich has been ore useful lately, his fantasy utility is limited to very deep or NL-only formats.

Gosewisch is not in the lineup Thursday against the Marlins.

Gosewisch has made three straight starts behind the plate, but will give way to Jordan Pacheco for the afternoon contest following Wednesday's night game. The 31-year-old Gosewisch had been showing signs of improvement after a slow start, hitting safely in seven of his last eight ames and batting .298 in May.

Gosewisch had started the first two games of the series, going 1-for-7 at the plate over that span. He'll take a seat Sunday, however, with Jordan Pacheco set to man the backstop.

Since the Diamondbacks were first rumored to be interested in Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Gosewisch has caught fire, putting up a .429/.435/.619 line in 21 at-bats over the past week. The hot streak still only raises his season line to .236/.274/.281, which makes him viable only in leagues where catcher is deep, but it might ensure that he keeps getting playing time as Saltalamacchia tries to work his way to Arizona.

The Diamondbacks are expected to sign Jarrod Saltalamacchia, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.

While it's not clear whether Saltalamacchia will be signed to a major league or minor league deal, when he reaches the D-Backs it will likely limit Gosewisch's at-bats, if not move him to the bench outright. His limited fantasy value will be reduced even further, making him droppable in almost all leagues.

Gosewisch went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run, and his first stolen base of the year in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rockies.

Gosewisch boosted his average to .208 with the performance, but he is still underperforming at the dish and losing time to Jordan Pacheco. He is nearly unplayable, except in deep leagues, right now.

Gosewisch is not in the lineup Monday against the Rockies.

Gosewisch will get his third day off in five games Monday, possibly signifying a switch in the ranks among the Diamondbacks catchers. Jordan Pacheco will start behind the plate again Monday, batting seventh.

Gosewisch is out of the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers on Saturday.

Gosewisch has struggled mightily at the plate to begin the season, and has collected no hits in his last 11 at-bats. He won't play Saturday against Dodgers, with Jordan Pacheco starting in his place and batting seventh for the Diamondbacks.

Gosewisch is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.

Gosewisch just received a day off Sunday, but he'll get another one after catching back-to-back games as his average has dipped down to .177 on the season. Jordan Pachecho will fill in and be behind the plate Wednesday in his stead.

Gosewisch has been pretty quiet at the plate in the early going, posting a .217/.250/.217 line so far with just three runs scored and this lone RBI. The 31-year-old is seeing the bulk of the playing time behind the dish, but there is little evidence that he can produce even at the level of an average major leaguer for fantasy purposes. He will find roster spots in deep leagues, but don't count on much production.

Gosewisch will in fact get the start behind the dish Saturday, contrary to a previous report, the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports.

Supposedly Gerald Laird was the preference to catch rookie Archie Bradley on Saturday, but Laird was having some back issues prior to the game, so there was a late switch. Either way, both Gosewisch and Laird are unappealing in most fantasy formats.

Gerald Laird will step in for his Diamondbacks debut, pushing Gosewisch to the bench after two straight starts. Gosewisch put together a .336/.378/.445 batting line in Cactus League play (45 at-bats) and has singled twice in eight at-bats so far this season, but his offensive upside is among the lowest of any starting catcher.

Gosewisch was named the Diamondbacks starting catcher Monday, according to the Arizona Republic. D-backs general manager Dave Stewart didn't give a ringing endorsement of the decision saying, "I don't know which other way we could go."

His bat has never been the strong part of his game, but he has shown a bit of success during spring training. Gosewisch is hitting .286/.300/.286 with three RBI in 11 games. Where Gosewisch really adds value is with his defensive skills behind the plate. That's great for the D-backs and their pitchers, but not so much for fantasy owners.
