Wed Aug 10 202211:00David Peralta Hitting Leadoff Wednesday
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder David Peralta is starting in left field and is batting leadoff on Wednesday against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff. Peralta will hit leadoff for the first time all year against a right-hander, against whom he's hitting .319 (71-for-267) with 11 of his 12 home runs and 39 RBI against in 2022. Against southpaws, he's gone just 6-for-40 (.150) with one long ball and four RBI. The matchup against Woodruff isn't the greatest, but Peralta is obviously much more attractive from a DFS perspective against a right-handed pitcher, especially out of the leadoff spot. Overall, the 34-year-old is hitting .251/.313/.450 with 12 homers, 43 RBI, 30 runs scored and one stolen base in 307 at-bats with the Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Sat Jul 30 202218:10Tampa Bay Rays Acquire David Peralta
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta has been traded to the Tampa Bay Rays, according to Jeff Passan. Coming back to the Diamondbacks in the deal is 19-year-old catcher Christian Cerda. Peralta is more of a platoon bat at this point, as he has a pretty good .823 OPS against righties but just a .462 OPS against lefties. The Rays tend to play a very analytical brand of ball, so expect Peralta to see very few lefties. He could be of use in weeks where the Rays are facing mostly righties, but in most leagues this move won't help his fantasy value. Cerda is not a highly ranked prospect, but has put up good numbers in rookie ball this year while showing off his plate discipline. He is still a long way from the majors, though.

Sun Jun 12 202212:17David Peralta On The Bench Against Lefty
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez. Peralta, who hits from the left side of the plate, will take a seat against a southpaw pitcher for the 13th time out of 15 times that the team has faced a left-hander on the mound. The 34-year-old veteran outfielder could also lose more playing time moving forward now that catcher Carson Kelly is back from the injured list, as Daulton Varsho is expected to see most of his playing time in the outfield now. Peralta is hitting .232/.304/.432 with eight home runs, 25 RBI and 16 runs scored on the season in 185 at-bats. Jordan Luplow is starting in left field and is batting leadoff on Sunday against Suarez, and he'll be worth a look as a DFS sleeper.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta left Monday's game against the Cincinnati Reds with back spasms. Peralta got banged up after making a diving catch during the third inning and was replaced in left field by Cooper Hummel after going 0-for-1 at the plate. The 34-year-old veteran is hitting .238 with eight homers, 16 runs, and 24 RBI across 168 at-bats. Look for Arizona to update Peralta's status following Monday night's game.

Tue May 3 202216:12David Peralta Sitting Against Lefty On Tuesday
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta is heading to the bench for Tuesday's game against left-hander Trevor Rogers and the Miami Marlins. Cooper Hummel will be covering Peralta's usual left field post in the game. Hummel will also serve as the team's leadoff hitter. Peralta had his best offensive game of the year so far on Monday as he went 3-for-4 and hit his third home run of the season. He's slashing .227/.294/.413 over 23 games on the year. He's gone just 1-for-10 in at-bats against lefties. Expect to see him back in the lineup against right-hander Elieser Hernandez on Wednesday.

Sun Oct 3 202111:17David Peralta On The Bench For The Season Finale
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. He will head to the bench after driving in a run in back-to-back games. Barring a pinch-hit appearance, the Diamondbacks outfielder will finish the 2021 campaign slashing .259/.324/.402 with eight homers, 63 RBI, 57 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 537 plate appearances. Henry Ramos is starting in left field and batting sixth in Sunday's game. Ramos has struggled at the plate in 20201, slashing .191/.235/.298 over 51 plate appearances. Fantasy managers can avoid using Ramos as a streamer on Sunday.

Mon Sep 13 202121:56David Peralta Getting A Rest Monday
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta will take a seat on Monday against Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Peralta owns just a .691 OPS off of lefties this season, so it wouldn't be a good matchup. On the year, he's slashing .263/.327/.414 with eight home runs and two stolen bases over 133 games. He's irrelevant in most formats and is more of a streaming option against righties. Henry Ramos will take Peralta's spot in left field and bat sixth. Ramos has played in just five games thus far but is slugging .571 in 14 plate appearances. He put up a 1.021 OPS in Triple-A this season and could be a low-risk pick-up for fantasy managers.

Sun Jul 4 202102:18Walker shuts down Yanks, Mets fans cheer 8-3 win in Bronx
NEW YORK (AP) — Taijuan Walker took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Brandon Nimmo provided a spark in his return from the injured list and the New York Mets beat the crosstown Yankees 8-3 Saturday to open a three-game Subway Series. The Mets already led 8-0 when Aaron Judge homered with one out in the sixth to end Walker’s bid for the record-tying eighth no-hitter in the majors this season. Walker (7-3) was lifted after 5 2/3 innings and got a standing ovation from Mets fans among the season-high crowd of 40,047 at Yankee Stadium. Jordan Montgomery (3-3) stranded five Mets baserunners over the first three innings to keep it scoreless, but the visitors broke through in the fifth. Nimmo led off with a single, one of his three hits, and scored the first run. TIGERS 11, WHITE SOX 5 DETROIT (AP) — Eric Haase hit a three-run, inside-the-park homer and later cleared the fence for another three-run drive, and Detroit snapped Chicago's five-game winning streak. Sun Jun 20 202101:48Urshela takes shard in eye, hits Yanks' go-ahead home run
NEW YORK (AP) — Gio Urshela stayed in the game despite a shard of a broken bat hitting his right eye in the second inning and hit a go-ahead homer eighth as the New York Yankees rallied from a three-run deficit in a 7-5 victory Saturday that stopped the Oakland Athletics’ seven-game winning streak. Aroldis Chapman struck out Matt Chapman on a 103.4 mph pitch to strand two runners in the ninth for his 15th save. Urshela singled in New York’s first run in the fourth and put the Yankees ahead 5-4 in the eighth when he lifted a 98.6 mph fastball from Jesús Luzardo (2-4) into the netting above Monument Park in center. DJ LeMahieu added a two-run single against Sergio Romo. Chad Green (2-4) struck out the side in the eighth. PADRES 7, REDS 5 SAN DIEGO (AP) — Rookie Kim Ha-seong hit a tiebreaking, two-run home run with two outs in the eighth — three innings after he replaced injured star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. — and San Diego beat Cincinnati. Sun Jun 20 202100:58Dodgers' Buehler has no-hit bid end in 8th vs. Diamondbacks
PHOENIX (AP) — Walker Buehler's no-hit bid for the Los Angeles Dodgers ended in the eighth inning Saturday when Arizona's David Peralta lined a leadoff single into center field. The 26-year-old right-hander cruised through the Diamondbacks' order, walking two, hitting a batter and striking out a season-best 11. He was pulled with one out in the eighth after giving up a second single to Nick Ahmed. Buehler breezed through the seventh, striking out Eduardo Escobar and Christian Walker before getting Stephen Vogt to ground out. But Peralta got a pitch up in the zone to start the eighth and lined a clean single into center. Buehler got a big hand from a sizable contingent of Dodgers' fans at Chase Field in Phoenix. If Buehler's no-hitter had continued, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts might have had a tough decision: Buehler was already at 101 pitches when he gave up Peralta's single, nearing his season-high of 105. There have already been six no-hitters this season, and a seventh would match 1990,... [More]
Thu Jun 10 202118:55D-backs fire hitting coaches after losing 30 of 35 games
PHOENIX (AP) — Exasperated by a run of brutal baseball, the Arizona Diamondbacks shook up their coaching staff in an effort to stabilize their season. D-backs manager Torey Lovullo fired hitting coach Darnell Coles and assistant hitting coach Eric Hinske on Thursday with the team struggling to score runs and mired in a 5-30 stretch dating back to May 4. “I’m not pinning it on one person or one group because we’re all in this together,” Lovullo said. “But we’ve seen 40 days of the type of offensive production that wasn’t meeting our standards and obviously well below average. We’ve seen that trend before and I felt like I needed to address that trend.” The Diamondbacks named co-hitting coaches to replace the fired pair. Rick Short was promoted from Triple-A Reno and Drew Hedman was Arizona's run production coordinator. Arizona started the season 15-13 but now has a majors-worst 20-43 record. The D-backs have lost a franchise-record 19 straight road games. Arizona GM Mike Hazen said he still... [More]

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks fired hitting coach Darnell Coles and assistant hitting coach Eric Hinske on Thursday with the team struggling to score runs during a brutal stretch in which it has lost 30 of 35 games. The Diamondbacks named co-hitting coaches to replace them. Rick Short was promoted from Triple-A Reno and Drew Hedman was Arizona's run production coordinator. Arizona has a majors-worst 20-43 record. The D-backs have lost a franchise record 19 straight road games. Their veteran-led lineup — including Ketel Marte, David Peralta, Nick Ahmed and Eduardo Escobar — has struggled to produce, especially over the last two weeks. Arizona had two hits in a 4-0 loss to Oakland on Wednesday. The D-backs are batting .231 as a team and scored just 12 runs over their most recent six-game trip. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Thu May 27 202123:54Cardinals' Martinez has no-hit bid end in 7th inning
PHOENIX (AP) — Carlos Martinez's no-hit bid ended in the seventh inning when the St. Louis right-hander gave up a leadoff single to Arizona's Ketel Marte on Thursday night. Marte lined a single into left field that fell in front of Tyler O'Neill, and Eduardo Escobar followed with a single to right. David Peralta then hit a double to deep left-center that scored Marte and chased Martinez from the game. The Cardinals still led 4-1. Martinez, a two-time All-Star, retired the first nine batters he faced, including six on strikeouts. He walked Josh Rojas to lead off the fourth and hit pitcher Caleb Smith with a pitch in the sixth. Martinez got the final two outs in the sixth inning when Rojas hit a hard liner right at third baseman Nolan Arenado, who caught it and then doubled off Smith at first base. But the pitcher's luck ran out in the seventh when Marte smacked a line drive into left. Martinez also had a hit at the plate, delivering a single in the second inning that was part of a three-run...
