Thu May 26 202221:49Tony Gonsolin's Start Moved To Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin will start Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was initially slated to start Friday's contest but was pushed back a day. The 28-year-old has been effective this season, posting a 4-0 record along with 1.62 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 37:16 K: BB across 39 innings in 2022. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Gonsolin in a favorable matchup against the Diamondbacks for Saturday's main slate.

Wed Apr 20 202218:25Tony Gonsolin Limits Braves To One Hit Over Six Innings
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin had a fantastic outing against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. He pitched six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out three. His efforts led to him earning his first win of the year. Gonsolin has a minuscule 0.69 ERA through three starts, but this was the first time we'd seen him pitch past the fourth inning this year. We'll see if the Dodgers will allow the 27-year-old to go deeper into games going forward. He'll be making his next start on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Mon Mar 28 202214:17Andrew Heaney, Tony Gonsolin Projected As Starters
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that he projects pitchers Andrew Heaney and Tony Gonsolin as starters to begin the season. Left-hander Tyler Anderson will serve as a piggyback option out of the bullpen. Veteran southpaw David Price isn't an option as a starter because he's not built up enough. Heaney will fill in through the first turn in the rotation to begin the season while Trevor Bauer remains on the restricted list, while Gonsolin is the favorite for the fifth spot in the rotation. There's a possibility that Bauer remains out for the foreseeable future, too, so Heaney could become quite attractive in mixed leagues despite a 5.83 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 129 2/3 innings with the Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees in 2021.

Mon Oct 11 202118:37Tony Gonsolin Could Start Game 4 Of NLDS
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin could be the team's starter for Game 4 of the NLDS on Tuesday. Dodgers catcher Will Smith told reporter Bob Nightengale on Monday that his understanding is that Gonsolin will get the ball to start off the game. However, Nightengale clarified that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has merely stated that Gonsolin is an option at this point. The Dodgers could alternatively choose to go with Walker Buehler on short rest for Game 4. Gonsolin has yet to appear in the NLDS while Buehler pitched Game 1 of the series, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing three earned runs.

Thu Sep 9 202118:36Tony Gonsolin Earns No-Decision In Return
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin earned a no-decision in his return to the mound on Thursday versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Gonsolin had been sidelined since July 31 with right shoulder inflammation. The right-hander went three innings in his return and allowed three hits, one run, two walks and struck out three. In redraft leagues, Gonsolin can be avoided with most of his outings likely to have an innings limit. Next up for Gonsolin is a date versus the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. For the season, he is 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA in 38 2/3 innings pitched.

Wed Sep 8 202123:41Tony Gonsolin Tabbed As Starter For Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) will be activated Thursday and get the start against the St. Louis Cardinals, according to manager Dave Roberts. The 27-year-old has battled shoulder inflammation this season, including two separate stints on the injured list, and has been on the shelf since July 31. The return of the right-hander will also push starting pitcher Julio Urias' next start to Friday against the San Diego Padres. While Gonsolin was a sleeper candidate entering 2021, he holds little value for the remainder of the campaign as his workload will surely be limited.

Fri Sep 3 202120:19Tony Gonsolin To Throw On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) is scheduled to throw three innings during a rehab outing on Saturday. Manager Dave Roberts mentioned the organization would consider activating Gonsolin after that outing, assuming everything goes well. Gonsolin has been sidelined since July 31 due to shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers are probably going to need another arm with David Price (arm) likely going on the injured list. Gonsolin has pitched well for the Dodgers this season, but probably won't carry 12-team value.

Thu Aug 19 202121:04Tony Gonsolin Throws Pen Session Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) threw about 25 pitches on Thursday. The 27-year-old has been out for a few weeks with right shoulder soreness, so at least he is moving in the right direction. Skipper Dave Roberts was pleased with the outcome of the recent session, reporting that all of Gonsolin's throws were fastballs and that he was "feeling strong" afterward. The righty has compiled a 2.78 ERA and 42 strikeouts throughout 10 games this season. However, he still may have a way to go before getting back on the bump. As a result, fantasy managers in shallower formats without room to spare would surely be justified by parting ways with him.

Wed Aug 4 202119:44Tony Gonsolin In 'Idle Mode'
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder), like his teammate Clayton Kershaw, is in "idle mode" waiting for the pain to subside, MLB.com reported, citing manager Dave Roberts. Gonsolin was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with right shoulder inflammation. The severity of the 27-year-old's injury is unknown, but the latest update indicates he could be in danger of missing more than 10 days. Gonsolin owns a 2.78 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 42:26 K: BB across 35 2/3 innings in 2021. Fantasy managers in deep-league formats can continue to stash him if they have the roster flexibility. Still, with the Dodgers acquiring Max Scherzer and Danny Duffy, it remains to be seen whether he returns to the rotation once activated.

Sat Jul 31 202120:10Tony Gonsolin Lands On The 10-Day Injured List
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. This could explain why the 27-year-old struggled mightily with his command in his previous start, yielding five walks over 1 2/3 innings. The severity of Gonsolin's injury is unknown at this time, but the Dodgers' right-hander will miss at least the next 10 days. Gonsolin owns a 2.78 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 42:26 K: BB across 35 2/3 innings in 2021. Fantasy managers in deep-league formats should continue to stash Gonsolin. Still, with the Dodgers acquiring Max Scherzer and Danny Duffy, it remains to be see if he returns to the rotation once activated from the 10-day injured list.

Sat Jul 31 202108:45Tony Gonsolin Struggles With Control On Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin had bad command of his pitches on Friday and only lasted 1 2/3 innings in tonight's no-decision versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gonsolin allowed one hit, two runs, five walks and struck out one on the evening. Gonsolin was yanked after allowing his fourth walk in bottom of the second inning to load the bases. Gonsolin has only gone six innings once this season, but has put up solid numbers with the exception of tonight. The Dodgers just acquired starting pitcher Max Scherzer and have Clayton Kershaw (forearm) working his way back from a forearm injury, so it's fair to wonder if Gonsolin will remain in the rotation for the long term of this season. The Dodgers also acquired starting pitcher Danny Duffy (forearm) on Friday, but he is currently on the 10-day injured list with a forearm injury and isn't expected back until late August at the earliest. Gonsolin's next scheduled start will come on Friday versus the Los Angeles Angels. Gonsolin remains 2-1 and owns a 2.78 ERA and should remain rostered in deeper leagues.

Sun Jul 25 202102:43Sandoval loses no-hitter in 9th, Angels beat Twins 2-1
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Patrick Sandoval had his no-hit bid broken up with one out in the ninth inning on a soft double by rookie Brent Rooker and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Saturday night. Sandoval, a 24-year-old lefty who began the game with a 3-13 career record, struck out a career-high 13. There have already been seven no-hitters in the majors this season. The big league record of eight was set in 1884, the first year overhand pitching was permitted. The Twins hadn’t come close to a hit until Rooker, who fanned his first three times up, flared an opposite-field fly that fell just inside the line in right. Sandoval (3-4) smiled after the ball fell, retired the next batter and then was pulled after 108 pitches. He walked one and hit two. Closer Raisel Iglesias allowed an RBI double to Josh Donaldson before getting his 21st save in 25 chances. José Berríos (7-5) allowed two unearned runs in seven innings in perhaps his final start for Minnesota. ASTROS 4, RANGERS... [More]

Thu Jun 10 202100:45Pederson, Alcantara homers power Cubs past Padres 3-1
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Joc Pederson and Sergio Alcantara homered, and Jake Arrieta threw five strong innings for the Chicago Cubs, who beat former teammate Yu Darvish and the San Diego Padres 3-1 Wednesday to take two of three. The Cubs beat the Padres five times in six games in a 10-day stretch, including a three-game sweep at Wrigley Field last week. Darvish (6-2) retired the first nine Cubs batters before Pederson hit a towering home run to right-center field leading off the fourth to tie it at 1. Darvish pitched well but took the hard-luck loss when the Cubs scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on Anthony Rizzo’s double-play ball. Arrieta allowed one run and four hits in five innings, struck out six and walked one. He allowed Manny Machado’s RBI single in the third. Rex Brothers (2-0) pitched a perfect sixth for the win. Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth for his 15th save in 17 chances. ATHLETICS 4, DIAMONDBACKS 0 OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Sean Manaea pitched six innings of two-hit ball,... [More]

Mon May 17 202120:38Pujols moves to Dodgers, disputes Angels' everyday claims
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Albert Pujols is grateful to be chasing another World Series ring now with the Los Angeles Dodgers, yet he's also disputing the Los Angeles Angels' version of the circumstances that led to his big move up the freeway. The 41-year-old slugger formally joined the Dodgers on a one-year deal Monday, vowing to contribute to the defending World Series champions as a first baseman, a pinch-hitter and a veteran mentor. He'll wear a No. 55 jersey in Dodger Blue after sporting a red No. 5 with the Cardinals and the Angels throughout his first two major league decades. “I feel like I've still got some gasoline left in my tank,” Pujols said. “I'm really excited for this opportunity.” Pujols was in the Dodgers' lineup Monday night as their cleanup hitter and first baseman when they faced left-hander Madison Bumgarner in the opener of a four-game series with Arizona at Chavez Ravine. The fifth-leading home run hitter in major league history said his role with the Dodgers will be “really... [More]

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Albert Pujols is grateful to be chasing another World Series ring with the Los Angeles Dodgers, yet he's also disputing the Los Angeles Angels' version of the circumstances that led to his big move up the I-5 freeway.
