Mon Apr 18 202208:37Emmanuel Clase Still Awaiting First Save Chance
Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase has yet to receive a save opportunity on the season. Each of the team's four victories on the year have come in games in which the score was too lopsided headed into the ninth inning for a save opportunity to arise. Last Monday, Clase entered the game in the ninth while the team had a 10-5 lead and last Wednesday, he entered the game in the ninth while the team had a four-run lead. Clase converted 24 of his 29 save opportunities in 2021 while pitching to a 1.29 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. He's the clear closer for the Guardians and fantasy managers can safely expect for him to start racking up saves soon.

Sat Apr 2 202217:36Guardians, Emmanuel Clase Finalize Extension
The Cleveland Guardians and closer Emmanuel Clase agreed to a five-year, $20 million contract extension on Saturday. The deal includes a $2 million signing bonus and two options at $10 million each for 2027 and 2028. The buyouts on both options are for $2 million, while escalators can bring the maximum on the options to $13 million. The Guardians will now attempt to lock up All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez long term before Opening Day next week. Clase will start the season as Cleveland's closer after converting 24 of his 29 save chances in 2021 while posting an excellent 1.29 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 69 2/3 innings. The hard-throwing righty is a top-10 fantasy closer.

Sat Apr 2 202210:21Emmanuel Clase Close To Contract Extension
The Cleveland Guardians and closer Emmanuel Clase were close to ironing out a contract extension on Friday. As a rookie last year, Clase went 4-5 with a 1.29 ERA and converted 24 saves in 29 opportunities over 69 2/3 innings pitched. The hard-throwing right-hander registered 100 mph or better on 44% of the 1,057 pitches he threw in 2021. The Guardians may not provide Clase with as many closing chances as some of the best teams in baseball, but he's still plenty valuable in fantasy and is ranked as RotoBaller's No. 6 closer, behind new Los Angeles Dodgers closer Craig Kimbrel.

Wed Sep 15 202108:02Emmanuel Clase Earns 23rd Save Tuesday
Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase threw a perfect seventh inning while striking out one to earn his 23rd save in a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Clase has now allowed just one earned run since July 15th and has compiled a ridiculous 1.44 ERA with 66 strikeouts across 62 2/3 innings pitched on the season. He should remain as the bonafide closer for the Tribe heading into 2022.

Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase earned his 19th save by throwing a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Boston Red Sox. Clase has been great recently as he still has a 0.00 ERA with six saves in August. He will serve as the sole Indians' closer down the stretch now that James Karinchak has been sent to AAA to work some things out.

Mon Aug 23 202107:18Emmanuel Clase Earns 18th Save Sunday
Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase recorded his 18th save of the season Sunday by allowing one hit and striking out one in the ninth inning of Sunday's 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Clase has a 0.00 ERA with five saves and 10 strikeouts across 8 2/3 innings pitched in August. He appears to have taken over closer duties for the Tribe, especially after James Karinchak struggled in this one by walking two and allowing a hit in 1/3 of an inning pitched. He should prove to be very valuable in saves leagues down the stretch.

He will be the leader in saves for the Tribe down the stretch.

Sat Aug 7 202107:47Emmanuel Clase Locks Down 15th Save
Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase recorded his 15th save of the season Friday night in the Tribe's 6-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. He quickly struck out Eric Haase and Victor Reyes to end the inning. Clase now has a 1.79 ERA on the season and will continue to garner save opportunities down the stretch in conjunction with James Karinchak.

NEW YORK (AP) — Eduardo Rodriguez shut down the short-handed Yankees into the sixth inning, Christian Arroyo and J.D. A day after the series opener was postponed for testing and contact tracing, Judge, third baseman Gio Urshela and catcher Kyle Higashioka were added to the COVID-19 injured list. They joined Yankees pitchers Jonathan Loaisiga, Nestor Cortes Jr. and Wandy Peralta, who have also tested positive over the past week.
