Tue Apr 11 202322:31Dansby Swanson Leaves Game Early Tuesday
Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson (side) left the game on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners with left side tightness. Swanson departed the contest in the sixth inning, but he also had four singles before leaving, becoming the second Cubs player to have four hits in the first five innings of a game in the last 15 years. Nico Hoerner moved over to shortstop and Nick Madrigal entered the game to play second base. Hopefully, Swanson's injury doesn't require a trip to the injured list, as he has a .400 average and a .467 on-base percentage so far this year after his four hits on Tuesday night. Swanson also had two RBI and a run scored in the game. We should know more on his condition on Wednesday, but fantasy managers probably shouldn't expect him to be in the lineup a day later.

Sat Dec 17 202220:19Dansby Swanson Agrees To Seven-Year Deal With Cubs
The Chicago Cubs and free shortstop Dansby Swanson agreed to a seven-year, $177 million contract on Saturday. The 28-year-old lands in Chicago after the Braves, Red Sox and Dodgers expressed interest in singing the shortstop. He is coming one of the best seasons in his career, slashing .277/.329/.447 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 99 runs, and 18 stolen bases over 162 games in 2022. The former Atlanta Brave is one of the most reliable shortstops in the game and has played in 160 games in back-to-back seasons. Swanson is locked in as Chicago's starting shortstop, while Nico Hoerner will shift over to second base. The move to Chicago shouldn't affect Swanson's fantasy value too much, and he is ranked at No. 10 in the latest Rotoballer shortstop rankings.

Thu Dec 15 202218:17Red Sox Seriously Considering Dansby Swanson
The Boston Red Sox appear to be seriously considering star free-agent shortstop Dansby Swanson now. Bringing Swanson aboard would allow them to keep Trevor Story at second base. Swanson's free-agent market is in very good shape, with the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves among the other teams interested. Boston made a run to try and re-sign Xander Bogaerts, but he chose the San Diego Padres for 11 years and $280 million. The 28-year-old Swanson is quickly becoming one of the best shortstops in the game after spending his first seven years with the Braves, slashing .255/.321/.417. He was a first-time All-Star in 2022, hitting .277 with a .776 OPS, 25 homers, 96 RBI and a career-high 18 stolen bases in a full 162 games. Swanson has 52 long balls, 184 RBI and 27 stolen bases in the last two years and is as clutch as they come. Boston would be a great landing spot for him for fantasy purposes.

Wed Dec 14 202213:12Twins Will Consider Dansby Swanson
The Minnesota Twins will now consider signing free-agent shortstop Dansby Swanson after failing to re-sign Carlos Correa. The Twins made a decent attempt to reunite with Correa, offering close to $285 million for 10 years, but he chose to go to San Francisco for a whopping 13 years and $350 million on Tuesday night. USA TODAY Sports' Bob Nightengale reports that Swanson's free-agent market has skyrocketed with the recent big signings of Correa, Xander Bogaerts and Trea Turner. Along with the Twins, the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves are all in play for Swanson. The 28-year-old is considered to be a tier below the three other marquee shortstops, but he was an All-Star in 2022 when he hit .277/.329/.447 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 99 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in all 162 regular season games.

Mon Dec 12 202215:01Dansby Swanson A Possibility For The Dodgers
According to a tweet from The New York Post's Jon Heyman on Sunday afternoon, shortstop Dansby Swanson is reportedly a "possibility for the Dodgers." Heyman tweeted: "Star free agent SS Dansby Swanson appears to be possibility for the Dodgers, where he could reunite with Freddie Freeman. Swanson, who married USWNT/Chicago Red Stars star Mallory Pugh Saturday, also has drawn interest from Cubs/others. Incumbent Braves remain stealthy or quiet." Swanson enjoyed a breakout at the plate in 2022, hitting .277 with a .329 on-base percentage, 25 home runs, and 18 stolen bases in 696 plate appearances for Atlanta. As of right now, Los Angeles' current shortstop options include Gavin Lux and Chris Taylor.

Wed Dec 7 202220:45Four Teams Showing Serious Interest In Dansby Swanson
The Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox are among the teams that have shown the most interest in free-agent shortstop Dansby Swanson so far this offseason. Swanson's hometown Atlanta Braves are also in the mix to re-sign him if he so chooses. The Twins and Red Sox are probably interested as a fallback option in case they can't re-sign Carlos Correa and Xander Bogaerts, respectively. It's likely that Swanson won't sign with a team until after Correa and Bogaerts do. The 28-year-old is considered inferior offensively to both Correa and Bogaerts, but Swanson has clubbed 52 home runs and driven in 184 runs in the last two years in Atlanta while slashing .263/.321/.448. He's no slouch with the bat in his hands.

Mon Dec 5 202222:41Cardinals Interested In Dansby Swanson
The St. Louis Cardinals are among the teams with interest in free-agent shortstop Dansby Swanson. If Swanson doesn't re-sign with his hometown Atlanta Braves, the Cardinals and Chicago Cubs are possibilities to land him. The Cardinals have been very active in the shortstop market and could also look at signing Xander Bogaerts. Adding a player like Swanson or Bogaerts would allow the Cardinals to use super-utility players Tommy Edman and Brendan Donovan in other spots. They could also use a position player in a trade for catcher Sean Murphy or Danny Jansen. The 28-year-old Swanson slashed .277/.329/.447 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 99 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in a full 162 games in 2022.

Sun Dec 4 202211:13Cubs, Phillies Showing Interest In Dansby Swanson
The Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies are among the teams showing active interest in free-agent shortstop Dansby Swanson ahead of next week's Winter Meetings in San Diego, according to sources. Swanson turned down the Atlanta Braves' $19.65 million qualifying offer after the season to become a free agent since he's likely to receive more in average annual value on the open market. The 28-year-old is one of the big four free-agent shortstops this offseason, joining Trea Turner, Xander Bogaerts and Carlos Correa. The 28-year-old continues to get better at the plate, and he finished last season with a .277/.329/.447 slash line with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 99 runs scored and a career-high 18 stolen bases in 696 plate appearances and 162 games played.

Fri Nov 4 202219:22Braves, Dansby Swanson Have Work To Do
The Atlanta Braves made an opening offer during the season to star shortstop Dansby Swanson, and sources suggested it was in the $100 million ballpark. Swanson, who is a Georgia product, is believed to want to stay in Atlanta, but it sounds like the two sides have plenty of work to do to land a long-term contract extension. Swanson will become a free agent after the World Series, and there will be plenty of suitors for his services. The 28-year-old first-time All-Star in 2022 continues to get better on both offense and defense. In his seventh MLB season this year, he slashed .277/.329/.447 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 99 runs scored and a career-high 18 stolen bases over 162 games played. Swanson has become one of the best all-around shortstops in real life and fantasy.

Wed Nov 2 202200:42Dansby Swanson Wins First Gold Glove Tuesday
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson earned his first career Gold Glove Award Tuesday, becoming the third Braves' shortstop to win the award. The 28-year-old had an excellent season overall, being selected to his first All-Star team while slashing .277/.329/.447 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, and 18 stolen bases. Swanson provided a career-high in RBI and stolen bases while falling just three shy of a career-high in HR. He will be an intriguing fantasy option at a relatively thin position heading into 2023.

Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson continued his hot stretch at the plate during Sunday's game against the New York Mets. Swanson kicked off his game with a solo home run off right-hander Chris Bassitt in the opening frame. The 28-year-old finished 1-for-3 on the day with a walk. His power surge has helped the Braves climb to a two game lead over the Mets in the division. Swanson is hitting .277/.329/.448 with 25 homers, 96 RBI and 18 stolen bases this season.

Wed Sep 14 202214:34Dansby Swanson Reaches 20 Homers
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson hit his 20th home run of the season Tuesday, a two-run shot off of San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jakob Junis to help the team to a 5-1 victory. Swanson went 2-for-5 in the game with three RBI. This is the second consecutive season that Swanson has reached this plateau, and with 17 steals to go along with the power numbers, he's been an excellent fantasy option. His production was better to start the season, but being firmly entrenched in the top third of the Atlanta lineup will keep his fantasy value high.

Sat Sep 10 202210:46Dansby Swanson Enduring Poor Second Half
Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson reached base twice on Friday, going 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run, and two RBI during the 6-4 win over the Seattle Mariners. The big fly was his 19th of the year but just his fourth since the All-Star break. And after posting a .833 OPS with 14 SBs in the first half, Swanson owns just a .700 mark with three steals since. Across 138 games this year, the former first overall pick's slashing .284/.340/.448 with 90 runs and 82 RBI. The overall numbers are still valuable, so fantasy managers can keep starting Swanson, hoping he turns things around.

Mon Jul 18 202211:20Braves Want To Keep Dansby Swanson
The Atlanta Braves want to keep All-Star shortstop Dansby Swanson around while he's in the midst of a career year. If his form holds, the Braves will make their offer to Swanson after the Aug. 2 trade deadline. If he does become a free agent, it will be another excellent year for the free-agent shortstop market. Xander Bogaerts will almost certainly opt out of his deal with the Boston Red Sox, and so will Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa. Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Trea Turner will make it four. People believe that Turner prefers to go back to the East Coast. Swanson has been excellent for fantasy managers this year, hitting .294/.353/.481 with an .833 OPS, 15 home runs, 53 RBI, 60 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 394 plate appearances over 94 games.

Fri Jul 15 202200:27Dansby Swanson Smacks Two-Run Shot
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson got the scoring started Thursday, smashing a two-run home run off of Washington Nationals starter Anibal Sanchez in the first inning of a 5-4 victory. It was Swanson's only hit in four at-bats. This has been a breakout campaign for the former first overall draft pick, and he now has 15 homers and 14 steals to go with an .833 OPS. The 14 steals already represent a career-high, and Swanson currently stands a strong chance of besting his career-best 27 home runs in 2021. Fantasy managers have to be thrilled to have him on their rosters.

Sun Jun 5 202214:05Dansby Swanson Gets Three Hits In Friday's Game
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson had a terrific day at the plate on Friday, going 3-for-4 during the 3-1 win over the Rockies. On the season, the 28-year-old is slashing .280/.348/.439 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 30 runs and nine stolen bases. However, since May 1, Swanson has been hitting .322/.383/.496. He should be rostered in all leagues, as he has a chance to continue contributing in batting average and power.

Fri Apr 29 202200:19Dansby Swanson Heating Up With First Homer
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson connected for his first home run of the season on Thursday as a part of his club's 5-1 victory over the Cubs. His solo shot in the third inning off Drew Smyly flew 432 feet as he also added a single to finish the night going 2-for-3 with a walk. Swanson has had a sluggish start to his 2022 campaign, hitting .209 with seven runs and seven RBI through 20 games, but he has picked it up lately going 7-for-18 over his last six contests. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, he remains hitting out of the ninth spot in the order, but his year-end numbers should still look admirable as a part of a formidable Braves lineup.

Wed Apr 20 202200:07Dansby Swanson Struggling At Plate To Start Season
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson has not gotten off to the start that fantasy managers had hoped for. The 28-year-old is slashing .143/.217/.238 with no home runs, two RBI, no stolen bases, and a 43.5% strikeout rate. He does have a .273 BABIP, which suggests some bad batted-ball luck to this point, but he has provided almost no fantasy value so far. Fantasy managers should be patient with Swanson, but they may want to keep him on their benches until he can heat up a little. The Braves will finish up a tough series at the Dodgers on Wednesday, but Swanson should have better opportunities to hit in their next series against the Marlins, Cubs, and Rangers.

Sun Apr 3 202220:34Dansby Swanson Singles On Sunday
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson went 1-for-3 in a 6-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox in Grapefruit League action on Sunday. Swanson is off to a slow start this spring, hitting just .208 with one homer, four runs, and an RBI across 24 at-bats. The 28-year-old is coming off the best season of his six-year career as he set highs in homers (27), runs (78), and RBI (88). Swanson settles in as a decent fantasy option as a top-20 shortstop in mixed leagues.
