Tue Aug 8 202319:52Mike Trout Has Progressed To Soft Toss
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) did some "really light, dry swings" with a fungo bat on July 26, and manager Phil Nevin said it was "very encouraging." Trout took dry swings with a regular bat for the first time on July 31, and Nevin said that Trout progressed to swings off soft toss on Monday. The All-Star outfielder's ramp-up shouldn't take long, so the 32-year-old's return might not be far off after he had surgery to remove his left hamate bone on July 5. The Halos, losers of seven straight games going into Tuesday's contest, could really use Trout back in their lineup down the stretch. It doesn't look like fantasy managers will have to wait too much longer to get him back. Trout will be returning to a .263/.369/.493 slash line with an .862 OPS, 18 home runs, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored in 81 games.

Thu Aug 3 202319:28Mike Trout Progressing To Tee Work
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) is expected to progress to hitting off a tee as early as Thursday. Trout had previously taken dry swings on Monday and Tuesday. Manager Phil Nevin said Trout's ramp-up should be pretty quick once he starts hitting a baseball. The 31-year-old had surgery on July 5 after fracturing the hamate bone in his left hand/wrist. It looks like he's made good progress since, and barring a setback along the way, he could be back in the Halos' starting lineup in center field as early as the middle of August. The Angels desperately need Trout back as they seek to make the postseason for the first time in Shohei Ohtani's career. Trout shouldn't be on the waiver wire anywhere. He's currently hitting .263/.369/.493 with an .862 OPS, 18 homers, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored in 304 at-bats.

Wed Jul 26 202319:34Mike Trout Takes Swings Wednesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) held a bat and took very light dry swings on Wednesday. Trout is slowly resuming baseball activities after also doing some running drills at Comerica Park on Tuesday. Fantasy managers are going to need to be patient, though, as Trout isn't exactly close to returning to the big leagues after having surgery on his left hamate bone earlier this month. He will continue to slowly ramp up his baseball activities before likely going in a minor-league rehab assignment in early August. In a best-case scenario, Trout could return to the Halos in mid-August. Until then, left-handed-hitting Mickey Moniak will continue to hold down most of the playing time in center field.

Tue Jul 25 202316:02Mike Trout Does Some Running
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) did some running drills on Tuesday, but he isn't expected back from the injured list until August while recovering from a fractured left hamate bone that required surgery. It's good to see Trout returning to baseball activities, but he still has a ways to go before he's ready to swing a bat, let alone return to the team's starting lineup. The 31-year-old former MVP is expected back in the second half of the season, but it's unclear when exactly he might be back next month. Until then, fantasy managers must remain patient with the aging superstar. With Trout out, Mickey Moniak has been seeing most of the starts in center field and is excelling in his first year full season in Anaheim.

Fri Jul 21 202318:18Mike Trout Has Stitches Removed
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (hand) had his stitches removed from his surgically-repaired left hand. The 31-year-old superstar told reporters on Friday he still has to allow the incision to fully heal before he can begin swinging the bat again. It sounds like Trout is feeling good at the moment, but he still has weeks left of recovery. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Trout back until at least mid-August right now.

Wed Jul 5 202319:26Mike Trout Out 4-8 Weeks After Having Surgery
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (hand) is expected to miss significant time after undergoing surgery on Wednesday. The superstar outfielder is expected to miss 4-8 weeks of action after having surgery to address a left hamate fracture. The expectation is that Trout is going to be sidelined until early August. However, that seems like the best case scenario, which doesn't always happen. This is a huge blow to both the Angels organization and to fantasy managers. It doesn't sound like Trout is done for the season, which is a bright spot. The Angels will likely try to fill the void with Mickey Moniak, Taylor Ward, and Jo Adell. Out of the trio, Moniak appears to be the best option right now.

Tue Jul 4 202319:35Mike Trout Uncertain About Surgery
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) was placed on the 10-day injured list after fracturing his left hamate bone during Monday's game. The superstar has a timetable of four to eight weeks to recover. Trout mentioned that he's unsure if he'll undergo surgery. He said that he has heard of people returning in four weeks from this injury, but acknowledged it could take longer. This is a huge blow to the Angels, but Trout does believe he'll be back this season. In the meantime, Mickey Moniak and Taylor Ward should see more playing time in the absence of Trout, as well as former top prospect Jo Adell.

Tue Jul 4 202315:04Mike Trout Lands On Injured List, Out 4-8 Weeks
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) is headed to the 10-day injured list on Tuesday after suffering a left-hamate fracture while fouling a ball off in Monday night's loss to the San Diego Padres. Hamate fractures typically take anywhere from four to eight weeks to recover from, so Trout is going to be out for a while. It's a big blow to the Angels and Trout's fantasy managers. The 31-year-old 11-time All-Star will head to the shelf hitting .263 (80-for-304) with 18 home runs, 14 doubles, a triple, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored in 81 games played, and this is the type of injury that could affect him at the plate the rest of the season when he does return. Mickey Moniak and Taylor Ward should both see more playing time in the outfield in Anaheim with Trout out for the foreseeable future.

Tue Jul 4 202309:20Mike Trout Dealing With Wrist Injury
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) was removed late from Monday's 10-3 loss to the San Diego Padres after injuring his wrist on a swing. According to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, the superstar is currently dealing with wrist pain, but he's hopeful it's just a sprain. Fantasy managers should consider Trout day-to-day and hope he can avoid a stint on the injured list. The 31-year-old has produced better numbers in the past, but he's still slashing an impressive .263/.369/.493 with 18 bombs, 54 runs, 44 RBI, and a pair of steals across 81 games. Stay tuned for more updates.

Tue Jun 27 202317:34Mike Trout Starting On The Bench Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is not in the team's starting lineup against the visiting Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Trout will get a day of rest a night after swiping his second stolen base of the year and also striking out three times. The future Hall of Famer has been cold with the bat in the month of June, hitting only .184 (14-for-76) with four home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI, 19 walks and 28 strikeouts in 22 games. He's gone 4-for-20 (.200) with two homers, two RBI and nine K's in his last six games to drop his season line to .253/.363/.480. Still, the 31-year-old All-Star continues to get on base at a high clip and has cleared the fences 17 times in 281 at-bats. Continue to start him when he's in the lineup. Mickey Moniak is getting the start in center field and is batting leadoff again versus White Sox right-hander Michael Kopech.

Sat Jun 24 202302:01Mike Trout Goes Deep In Loss To Colorado
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, and three strikeouts in a 7-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Friday. Trout went back-to-back with Shohei Ohtani in the top of the fifth inning to give the Halos a 4-2 lead. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, they wouldn't score the rest of the evening en route to a loss. The home run was Trout's only hit and he struck out three more times in this one, which gives him 90 on the season. That puts him on pace to break his career-worst mark of 184 that he set back in 2014. He's also batting just .250, which is much lower than what we've come to expect from the 31-year-old. He owns a .832 OPS to go along with 16 home runs, 40 RBI, and one stolen base across 272 at-bats on the year.

Wed Jun 14 202317:45Mike Trout Back In Wednesday's Lineup
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has returned to the starting lineup on Tuesday and is starting in center field and batting third against Texas Rangers left-hander Andrew Heaney. With Trout slumping at the plate of late, the Halos decided to give him a day of rest on Tuesday. The 31-year-old perennial All-Star has a hit in each of his last two games, but overall he's gone 5-for-38 (.132) with a home run, six RBI and 14 strikeouts in 11 games in the month of June. He's still getting on base at a solid clip of .358 and has an .831 OPS, so fantasy managers in redraft leagues should continue to start him daily. Although Trout only has two homers against left-handers, he's hitting .279 (17-for-61) against them in 2023, so hopefully he has a good night on Wednesday.

Tue Jun 13 202318:44Mike Trout Resting Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is taking the day off on Tuesday versus the Texas Rangers. It's probably the perfect time for Trout to receive a breather, as he's gone just 5-for-38 (.132) with a homer, six RBI and 14 strikeouts in 11 games so far in the month of June. The recent cold stretch has lowered his season slash line to .255/.358/.473 with an .831 OPS, 11 doubles, 14 long balls, 37 RBI and 41 runs scored in 285 trips to the plate over 64 games. The 10-time All-Star isn't running anymore, but he remains a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's active and he continues to get on base frequently. With Trout out Tuesday, Mickey Moniak is starting in center field and batting seventh against Rangers rookie left-hander Cody Bradford.

Wed May 31 202309:58Mike Trout Hitless In Tuesday's Loss
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Tuesday night's 7-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox. Trout is having a bit of a down month in May with a .242 average and five home runs after hitting .308 with seven home runs in April. He's still yet to record a stolen base this season and hasn't stolen more than two bases in a season since 2019. Trout has been one of the best hitters in baseball for so long that his .876 OPS entering play Wednesday would be his lowest since his rookie season in 2011. Without the stolen bases, though, Trout is more of a borderline first-round pick in rotisserie formats than a lock for the first round like he was before.

Fri May 19 202318:27Mike Trout Not In The Lineup
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is not of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine day off for the superstar outfielder. The Angels will have Mickey Moniak cover center field and bat leadoff versus right-hander Joe Ryan on Friday. Fantasy managers should expect Trout to return after this contest. DFS players should probably look for a better streaming option than Moniak in this tough matchup versus Ryan.

Mon May 15 202316:35Mike Trout Returning On Monday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (elbow) is back in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The superstar outfielder sat out of Sunday's contest due to left elbow soreness. Luckily, this wasn't a serious issue, and Trout was only forced to miss one game because of it. He's hitting .277/.365/.507 with eight home runs and 20 RBI this season. Trout will bat second and cover center field versus righty Grayson Rodriguez on Monday. Fantasy managers should make sure to get Trout back in their lineups.

Sun May 14 202309:50Mike Trout Out Of The Lineup On Sunday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is receiving a day off for Sunday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians. The 10-time all-star participated in eight consecutive games prior to this one. The maintenance day is understandable especially given the early first-pitch time of 11:35 am. The nine-time Silver Slugger is off to something of a slow start by his hefty standards, slashing .279/.367/.510 with eight blasts and 20 RBI. Look for Trout to return to action on Monday in Camden Yards against the Baltimore Orioles, where he aims to build on a quiet 8-for-44 stretch the last two weeks.

Sun May 14 202302:36Mike Trout Scores A Run In Loss
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout went 0-for-4 with a run scored and a strikeout in an 8-6 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. Trout was hit by a pitch in the top of the third inning and would later come around to score off an Anthony Rendon sacrifice fly. The typically reliable 31-year-old has struggled mightily over the last seven games with a .179/.233/.214 batting line to go along with a 9:1 K/BB ratio. He's fully capable of going on a heater at any point so there's no cause for concern. On the year, he's slashing .279/.367/.510 with eight home runs and 20 RBI over 147 at-bats.

Fri May 5 202318:35Mike Trout Returning To Starting Lineup Friday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is back in Friday's starting lineup against the Texas Rangers and right-hander Dane Dunning. Trout got a breather in Thursday's series finale in St. Louis but gets right back at it one day later. It's been a standard start to the season for the superstar as Trout is hitting .296 with eight home runs and a .971 OPS across 134 trips to the plate. It's an optimal time for a rested Trout to return to action considering his success in his career against Dunning. Trout has terrorized the right-hander for a .357 batting average with two home runs and a 1.143 OPS across 14 trips to the plate.

Thu May 4 202312:30Mike Trout Resting, Zach Neto Returns Thursday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Meanwhile, rookie shortstop Zach Neto (finger) is back at shortstop and is hitting leadoff against Cardinals right-hander Jack Flaherty. Trout is getting a normal day of rest after starting each of the team's last 11 games. In his place, Brett Phillips will roam center field and bat in the nine-hole on Thursday. Neto left Wednesday's contest early after getting hit by a pitch on his finger during a bunt attempt, but it wasn't a serious injury and he's back in there a day later. The 22-year-old rookie is hitting .267 (16-for-60) with four doubles, five RBI and a stolen base in his first 18 major-league games.
