Mon Jul 25 202211:24Wil Myers' Rehab Assignment To Continue
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers' (knee) minor league rehab assignment will continue for at least a couple more days, as he and the Padres felt he'd benefit by getting some more at-bats at Triple-A El Paso. In three games, Myers is 4-for-14 and went 6-for-18 in five games with Low-A Lake Elsinore. "I don't think he feels comfortable enough with the time off yet to where he's ready to face major league pitching," skipper Bob Melvin said. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list since June 2, and the Friars could choose to ease him back into action at the major league level once he's activated. In 32 games before his knee injury, Myers was hitting .234/.276/.306 with one home run, 19 RBI and 13 runs scored in 124 at-bats.

Tue Jul 12 202207:55Wil Myers To Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (knee) will begin a rehab assignment at Single-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list with right knee inflammation since early June. Prior to the injury, he was struggling to produce at the plate. Over 32 games this year, he's slashed .234/.276/.306 with just one home run to go along with 19 RBI and 13 runs. If he can avoid any setbacks, we're likely to see him back in the majors right after the All-Star break.

Thu Jul 7 202219:48Wil Myers To Test His Knee Thursday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (knee) said he will run the bases to test his knee on Thursday and will also shag fly balls for a few days before the team discusses his next steps on his rehab. If Myers feels fine over the next couple days, there's a good chance he'll be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. The 31-year-old has been out since early June with right knee inflammation, and his knee has plagued him for much of the season to this point. It shows in his numbers, as he was hitting .234/.276/.306 with one homer, 19 RBI and 13 runs scored in 124 at-bats. Nomar Mazara has been great for the Friars filling in in right field, so Myers' playing time could be sporadic once he returns from the injured list if Mazara continues to hit.

Mon Jun 6 202221:49Wil Myers Weighing Options
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (knee) and the team are still weighing his options when it comes down to how to proceed with his injured right knee. Myers landed on the injured list last Friday after trying to play through knee soreness for a few weeks prior. The veteran could continue to rest his knee for a while, then return and play the rest of the season with "continued maintenance". That being said, a scope on the knee is still an option that is on the table. Myers is hitting .234 with one homer, 13 runs, and 19 RBI across 124 at-bats. Look for a clearer timeline from the Padres in the near future.

Fri Jun 3 202217:27Wil Myers Placed On Injured List
The San Diego Padres placed outfielder Wil Myers (knee) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with right knee inflammation. The move is retroactive to June 1. In a corresponding move, the team recalled outfielder Brent Rooker from Triple-A El Paso. Myers hasn't played since May 31 and will now miss at least the next 10 days. He's been a disappointment at the plate for the Padres this year, hitting .234/.276/.306 with one home run, 19 RBI and 13 runs scored in 134 plate appearances. With Myers now on the shelf, Nomar Mazara, who was called up from the minors on Thursday, should see semi-regular playing time in right field against right-handed pitchers. Mazara had a hit in two at-bats in his first game with the Friars on Thursday after tearing the cover off the ball at El Paso earlier this year.

Thu Jun 2 202217:57Wil Myers Remains Out Thursday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (knee) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Myers received a gel injection in his inflamed right knee after Tuesday's game, and although the injury isn't considered serious, he'll miss another game. The 31-year-old has been pretty disappointing for the Padres and fantasy managers alike so far this year, as he's hitting just .234/.276/.306 with one home run, 19 RBI and 13 runs scored in 134 plate appearances over 32 games. Nomar Mazara, who was just called up from the minors on Thursday, is starting in right field and is hitting sixth against Brewers right-hander Adrian Houser. The 27-year-old will be making his 2022 season debut in the big leagues after tearing the cover off the ball at Triple-A El Paso for a .367 average, seven home runs and 27 RBI in 35 games.

Wed Jun 1 202216:52Wil Myers Hopeful To Return Thursday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (knee) received a gel injection in his inflamed right knee after Tuesday night's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was held out for Wednesday's day game, but he is hopeful that he'll be back in action on Thursday. The injury first arose for Myers this past Saturday and he wound up sitting for two straight games before returning on Tuesday. The 31-year-old has a .234/.276/.306 slash line over 32 games this year with one home run, 19 RBI and 13 runs.

Tue May 31 202211:22Wil Myers Close To Returning
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (knee), who missed the last two games with right knee inflammation, is getting close to a return. Myers ran before the game on Monday, and manager Bob Melvin said he'd be available off the bench, although he never entered the 6-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. The 31-year-old could be back in the lineup as soon as Tuesday against Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright. Myers has compiled a .242/.285/.317 slash line so far this year with only one home run, 19 RBI and 13 runs scored in 130 plate appearances over 31 games played. Jose Azocar got the start in right field for the second straight game on Monday with Myers sidelined.

Tue May 10 202221:29Wil Myers, Luke Voit Activated And Starting Tuesday
The San Diego Padres reinstated outfielder Wil Myers (thumb) and first baseman/designated hitter Luke Voit (biceps) from the injured list on Tuesday. Myers is back in right field and is hitting fifth on Tuesday against Chicago Cubs left-hander Wade Miley, while Voit will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth. Myers has been out the last two weeks with a bruised right thumb. He was off to a slow start with a .218/.254/.273 slash line and a 32.2% strikeout rate to begin the year, and he's still searching for his first homer. Voit went on the IL on April 23 with a biceps injury. The 31-year-old power hitter was also ice-cold before his injury, and he went 0-for-18 with 12 strikeouts during a five-game rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso. Fantasy managers should play Myers/Voit at their own risk now that they are back in the majors.

Thu Apr 28 202211:00Padres Place Wil Myers On Injured List
The San Diego Padres placed outfielder Wil Myers (thumb) on the 10-day injured list with a right thumb contusion on Thursday and selected the contract of outfielder Trayce Thompson in a corresponding move. Myers' injured list stint will be retroactive to April 27. The Padres also moved right-hander Austin Adams to the 60-day injured list. Myers injured his right thumb on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds. Since then, Matt Beaty has started in right field in Myers' absence and should be the primary option to replace him while he's on the shelf, at least when the Padres face right-handed pitching. Myers is still searching for his first home run of the season and has gone just 12-for-59 (.218) with seven RBI and 19 strikeouts in his first 15 games.

Wed Apr 27 202216:08Wil Myers Out With Sore Thumb On Wednesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (thumb) is being held out of Wednesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Myers suffered a right thumb injury during Tuesday's game. It was a re-aggravation of an injury that first occurred back on April 12. Matt Beaty will be covering Myers' usual right field post in Wednesday's game. There has been a good amount of discussion regarding a stint on the injured list for Myers. While he hasn't been placed on the injured list quite yet, it sounds like he may be landing there at some point later on Wednesday or in the next day or two.

Wed Apr 27 202208:51Wil Myers Exits With Thumb Soreness On Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (thumb) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Myers re-aggravated a right thumb injury in the fifth inning of the game when he hit an inside fastball for a bloop single. The 31-year-old first injured his thumb back on April 12, but it was more swollen this time around. According to Padres manager Bob Melvin, Myers will be out on Wednesday and likely won't play Thursday as well. It sounds like a stint on the injured list could even be possible for him. However, we should know more about his timeline after the team reevaluates him on Wednesday.

Sat Apr 16 202213:42Wil Myers Absent On Saturday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (thumb) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He'll miss his second game in a row due to right thumb soreness. The 31-year-old isn't expected to miss much time, so hopefully he can avoid a trip to the injured list. Possibly, Myers will able to play on Sunday, but fantasy managers will have to wait and see. Matt Beaty will bat eighth and play right field versus right-hander Ian Anderson. Fantasy managers should be able to find a better streaming option than Beaty.

Sun Mar 13 202215:00Padres Shopping Eric Hosmer, Wil Myers
The San Diego Padres are "aggressively shopping" first baseman Eric Hosmer and outfielder Wil Myers, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Both players are owed a significant amount of money this coming season, which could make dealing them a problem. Hosmer slashed .269/.337/.395 with 12 home runs, 65 RBI and 53 runs over 151 games last year. Myers, meanwhile, played in 146 games in 2021 and hit .256/.334/.434 with 17 home runs, 63 RBI and 56 runs. If the Padres move both players and don't add replacements, we could see Jurickson Profar move into an everyday role, though he's not someone who is particularly enticing for fantasy purposes.

Sat Oct 2 202114:53Wil Myers On The Bench Saturday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers is absent from Saturday's lineup for the matchup with the San Francisco Giants, according to MLB.com. Myers has taken a step backward after a career year in 2020 but has still put up decent numbers. He's slashing .257/.335/.437 with 17 HRs and eight stolen bases over 145 games. Jurickson Profar will replace Myers in the outfield and bat fifth. Profar hasn't looked good at the plate in 135 games this season, hitting .224 with just four home runs. He's fared better against righties, slashing .244/.348/.343, and with Kevin Gausman on the rubber, he can be streamed in deep OBP leagues.

Tue Sep 21 202120:23Wil Myers Sitting Against Giants On Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers is not part of the starting lineup on Tuesday as the team prepares to face Kevin Gausman and the San Francisco Giants. The Padres are going with Tommy Pham, Jurickson Profar and Trent Grisham in the outfield for the game. Myers has been left out of the starting lineup a decent amount lately. The Padres have a clogged outfield right now and Myers isn't doing himself any favors by slashing .217/.288/.457 so far in September. Myers and Profar are basically in a 50/50 platoon for the moment, but Profar is also struggling with a .158/.200/.289 slash line in September.

Wed Sep 15 202121:08Wil Myers Getting A Breather On Wednesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers is absent from the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Dominic Leone and the San Francisco Giants. Jurickson Profar is getting the start in right field for the game and he's also leading off as the team's primary leadoff hitter, Trent Grisham, is being bumped down to the No. 8 spot in the lineup. Myers has been ice cold at the plate so far in September. Over 11 games this month, he's slashed .171/.268/.429 with 14 strikeouts. Expect to see him back in the lineup for the series finale against the Giants on Thursday.

Tue Aug 31 202118:49Wil Myers Not Starting On Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers is on the bench on Tuesday for a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Zac Gallen. The Padres will start Fernando Tatis Jr., Trent Grisham, and Jurickson Profar from left to right in the outfield against Gallen. With Tatis Jr. now starting in the outfield full time, Myers' playing time will be worth monitoring down the stretch for fantasy managers. He's still getting plenty of starts in a quality San Diego lineup, but the Padres also have Tommy Pham and Trent Grisham as outfield options to play alongside Tatis Jr. Overall, Myers is batting .261 with a .345 on-base percentage, 15 home runs, and eight stolen bases in 415 plate appearances this season.

Sat Aug 28 202119:39Wil Myers Returns To Lineup Saturday Night
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday night following a two-game absence. Myers had exited Wednesday's game with an unspecified hamstring injury, but it appears that he has managed to avoid a stint on the injured list. He has been the hottest hitter for San Diego this month, slashing .295/.394/.475 with three homers, one steal, eight RBI and 11 runs scored over 21 games. He's batting sixth in the lineup Saturday, and managers should slot him back into their lineups.

Fri Aug 27 202119:55Wil Myers Not In Lineup Friday Against Angels
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup on Friday night. Continue to consider Myers day-to-day for the time being, and in the meantime Fernando Tatis Jr. will start in right field and bat leadoff.
