Thu Aug 26 202108:08Wil Myers Leaves Wednesday's Game With Hamstring Issue
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (hamstring) was removed in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. After the game, Padres manager Jayce Tingler told the media that Myers' removal was due to a "hamstring deal." He was replaced in the game by Jake Marisnick and the Padres went on to lose the game 5-3 in 16 innings. Tingler didn't expand further on Myers' injury so we really don't know much at this time, but it's likely nothing major. Myers should be considered day-to-day with a decent chance to play in Thursday's series finale against the Dodgers.

Thu Aug 19 202115:15Wil Myers Homers Twice Wednesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers had a big day at the plate Wednesday night, going 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI against the Colorado Rockies. Myers now has 15 long balls on the year to go with 42 runs, 52 RBI, and seven steals. Now that Fernando Tatis Jr. has shifted to the outfield, Myers figures to lose a significant amount of playing time as the odd man out, so this performance could not have come at a better time. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on the lineups over the coming days to see how the playing time shakes out.

Sun Aug 15 202115:53Wil Myers Isn't In Sunday's Lineup
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers is on the bench on Sunday. The Padres are taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen but will do so without Myers in the lineup as the outfielder takes a seat with Fernando Tatis Jr. getting his first start in right field. Myers is batting .254 with a .339 on-base percentage, 13 home runs, and seven stolen bases this season. Tatis Jr. starting in the outfield on a regular basis certainly isn't ideal for fantasy managers with Myers on their roster. Myers has played first base before so it'll be interesting to see if San Diego gives him more starts there in the event that Tatis Jr. stays in the outfield for the remainder of the season.

Wed Aug 11 202111:32Wil Myers Reaches Base Four Times
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers finished 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, two runs scored and a stolen base Tuesday against the Miami Marlins. The 30-year-old has endured an uneventful season from a fantasy perspective, slashing .256/.342/.423 with 85 runs-plus-RBI but does have 12 homers and seven steals in 363 plate appearances. With shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) expected to receive starts in the outfield, Myers could be the odd man out and start losing opportunities. There's a chance he'll platoon at first base with Eric Hosmer, but the latter is swinging a hot bat and Myers won't be forcing his way into the lineup with a 108 wRC+. Keep him on deeper fantasy rosters but likely just for rotational depth.

Wed Aug 4 202114:06Wil Myers Out Of The Lineup On Wednesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers is heading to the bench for Wednesday's game against right-hander Frankie Montas and the Oakland Athletics. Jake Marisnick is getting the start in right field and batting ninth in the game. This will be the second time in a row that Myers is sitting against a righty. He sat out Saturday's game against German Marquez and the Colorado Rockies then went on to start the team's next two games, both against lefties. The right-handed Myers has actually hit better against righties than lefties this year. He's slashed .270/.333/.465 against righties and .197/.341/.310 against lefties. Myers has had a shaky year overall and should continue to only see semi-regular playing time going forward.

Wed Aug 4 202108:35Wil Myers Strikes Out Three Times On Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers has been in a bit of a funk at the plate lately. He's gone 1-for-7 with two walks and five strikeouts over his first two games in August. He has been in the team's starting lineup most games this year, but he's failed to homer since July 16. On the year, he's slashing .252/.335/.429 with 12 home runs, 46 RBI and 34 runs over 98 games. It's been a big decline from 2020, when he slashed .288/.353/.606 with 15 home runs over 55 games. Clearly 2020 was an anomaly for him as this year's slash line is much closer to his career triple-slash of .254/.330/.446. Myers is a streaky player who is worth roster consideration in NL-only leagues and deep leagues, but he can remain on waivers in shallow leagues.

Sun Jul 18 202122:51Padres, Nats recall harrowing scene after shots outside park
When the gunshots started to echo all around Nationals Park, San Diego Padres star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. quickly thought about the team's family members and friends in the seats. Tatis bolted from the bench down the left field line Saturday night, helped open a gate to the stands and began ushering a group back to the dugout for shelter. “Our family, loved ones, little kids. Feel like somebody needed to go get them,” Tatis said Sunday. “I feel like the safest place was the clubhouse and we were trying to get our families into a safe place.” The top half of the sixth inning in the game between the Padres and Washington Nationals had just ended in front of about 33,000 fans when several shots were heard on South Capitol Street, just outside the third-base side of the stadium. But in the moment, no one knew whether the rapid series of shots was coming from inside the ballpark or beyond. “It doesn’t make the situation better, but someone shooting a firearm in the stadium would have been... Fri Jul 16 202122:11Padres' Cronenworth hits for cycle against the Nationals
WASHINGTON (AP) — San Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth hit for the cycle for the first time in his major league career Friday night against the Washington Nationals. After lining out in the first inning, Cronenworth had a two-run double in the second, an RBI triple in the third, a solo homer in the fifth and an infield single against the shift in the sixth. Cronenworth’s cycle was the third in Padres' history, following Matt Kemp (2015) and Wil Myers (2017). Charlie Blackmon of the Rockies is the only other player to hit for the cycle against the Nationals (2005-present), accomplishing the feat on the final day of the 2018 season. The 27-year-old Cronenworth is batting .276 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/mlb and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
