Wed Sep 15 202108:23Manny Machado Slashing .268/.348/.415 In September
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado was one of the best hitters in baseball in July, when he slashed .371/.442/.742 with eight home runs, nine doubles, 25 RBI and 24 runs. However, he's been struggling significantly at the plate since the calendar turned to August. He had a .234/.278/.355 slash line with just three home runs in August. So far, September has been the same story for him as he's hit .268/.348/.415 over his first 11 games of the month. Machado has been making great hard contact all year. His 119.6 mph max exit velocity leads the league and he ranks in the 93rd percentile in hard-hit rate (52.3%). He's a streaky player and he still has time to muster one more hot streak before the season's done.

Sat Aug 28 202108:23Manny Machado Goes 2-For-5 In Friday's Win
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado helped the team defeat the Los Angeles Angels 5-0 on Friday. He went 2-for-5 with a run scored in the game. The veteran has been struggling at the plate in August. He had gone just 1-for-15 over his previous four games before Friday. Over the month as a whole, he's slashed .213/.257/.298 with just four extra-base hits (two home runs, two doubles). Fantasy managers will have to live with Machado's streaky ways. He was on fire in July, when he slashed .371/.442/.742 with eight home runs. Hopefully another hot streak is coming soon.

Sat Aug 21 202102:14Manny Machado Hits 22nd Homer Friday
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went deep Friday night, hitting his 22nd home run of the season off of Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Matt Moore. The two-run long ball was Machado's only hit in five at-bats for the game. Machado has been in a bit of a slow stretch over his last 15 games, slashing .210/.234/.323 with two home runs including Friday's shot. Still, fantasy managers have to be pleased with his .842 OPS, 74 runs, 82 RBI, and nine steals on the season, and they'll be hoping for more of the same going forward.

Wed Aug 18 202108:43Manny Machado Slashing Just .233/.270/.317 In August
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado has been struggling at the plate so far in August. Over 15 games this month, he's slashing .233/.270/.317 with just three extra-base hits (one home run, two doubles) to go along with four RBI and nine runs. He has 15 strikeouts and only three walks in August. Machado had his best month of the year in July, posting an absurd 1.184 OPS while blasting eight home runs. He has extremely promising underlying metrics on the season. He ranks in the 96th percentile in both average exit velocity (93.4 mph) and hard-hit rate (53.4%). He's notoriously a streaky hitter, so this recent cold stretch isn't too surprising. Fantasy managers should expect to see another hot streak from Machado soon.

Sat Jul 31 202112:28Manny Machado Secures Another 20-Home Run Season
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs Friday against the Colorado Rockies. Machado was the only semblance of offense for the Friars in a 9-4 blowout loss. The 29-year-old continues his blistering hot streak, totalling a 1.174 OPS in July with eight homers. Overall, he carries a sturdy .283/.359/.524 slash with 20 dingers, nine steals and 139 runs-plus-RBI. Pocketing his seventh season with 20-plus homers, the Padres will need Machado to continue his offensive tirade to make the playoffs in a competitive NL West. Fantasy managers need not worry about his spot in starting lineups.
