Thu Apr 6 202318:58Randal Grichuk Still Without Timetable
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk (hernia) has had his recovery from bilateral sports hernia surgery delayed because of cold and wet weather in Arizona. He is running bases but not busting out of the batter's box full go, yet. While he has been hitting and fielding, he has yet to take live batting practice. There is no timetable for when that will occur or when he may get into game action. Fantasy managers should continue to hold off on him until more is known.

Tue Feb 14 202315:54Randal Grichuk Undergoes Hernia Surgery
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk (hernia) had surgery for a bilateral sports hernia a week ago. If all goes well in his rehab, he should be ready for game action in six weeks, but he's unlikely to be ready for Opening Day. The 31-year-old was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays last spring and hit .259/.299/.425 with 19 home runs in his first season with the Rockies in 2022. He played 106 games in right field and 52 in center last year, so he and Yonathan Daza are expected to see most of the playing time in center and right field in 2023. With Grichuk now hurt, it will allow for more opportunities for Sean Bouchard and Nolan Jones, who both made their MLB debuts last year. Switch-hitter Michael Toglia could also be an option in right field.

Wed Aug 10 202211:19Randal Grichuk Records Five Hits Tuesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk went 5-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in the 16-5 shellacking of the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. It was one of those Coors Field nightmares for the Cardinals, but Grichuk certainly had fun and is now slashing .270/.312/.435 with 12 home runs, 58 RBI, 43 runs scored and three stolen bases in 345 at-bats in 2022. Since the All-Star break, he's been hot, going 23-for-63 (.365) with three home runs, 16 RBI and 10 runs scored in 18 games. So far in August, he's hitting .375 (12-for-32) with three homers, seven RBI and seven runs scored in nine games. Grichuk needs to be kept in starting lineups until he cools off.

Sat Aug 6 202201:05Randal Grichuk Homers In Three-Hit Game
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk had three hits Friday night, including a solo home run. His 11th long ball of the year came in the first inning off Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner. He scored two runs in the 6-5 loss. Grichuk hasn't been able to get it going this season, but he does have four multi-hit performances in his last nine games. With a .718 OPS, 39 runs scored, 54 RBI, and three steals in 350 plate appearances this season, Grichuk remains a fantasy option in only the deepest leagues.

Fri Jul 15 202200:16Randal Grichuk Drives In Three Thursday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk drove in three runs Thursday, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in an 8-5 victory over the San Diego Padres. He now has 40 RBI on the season to go with a .680 OPS, nine homers, two steals, and 32 runs scored. Grichuk's batting average of .247 and on-base percentage of .284 are very close to his career marks, but he's slugged a surprisingly low .396 as a member of the Rockies this year, 70 points off his career number despite the advantageous environs. He doesn't need to be rostered in most formats, but he's always capable of going on a tear.

Sat May 21 202212:22Randal Grichuk Sitting In Game 1 Of Doubleheader
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the team's doubleheader against the New York Mets on Saturday. Kris Bryant (back) will be returning from the injured list for the game and he will be starting in the outfield alongside Connor Joe and Yonathan Daza. Grichuk has compiled five home runs, 21 RBI and 14 runs over 28 games this year while slashing .275/.322/.440. He's been plagued by a 61% ground ball rate so far this season, way up from his career 39.3% ground ball rate. Once he starts getting under the ball more consistently again, we should see an uptick in home runs, especially with Coors Field supporting him for the first time in his career.

Fri May 13 202218:26Randal Grichuk Returning To The Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk (illness) will return to the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old has missed each of the last two games due to a non-COVID related illness. He'll bat fifth and play right field versus righty Zack Greinke on Friday. Grichuk is hitting .281/.323/.449 with four home runs, 16 RBI this season. Fantasy managers should make sure he's back in their lineups for this game.

Wed May 11 202221:34Randal Grichuk Dealing With A Stomach Bug
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk (stomach) has sat out the last two games with a stomach bug but is expected to return against the San Francisco Giants on Friday. He's missed three of the team's previous four games; two absences were due to a stomach issue. The 30-year-old is slashing .281/.323/.449 with four home runs, 16 RBI, 12 runs, and a stolen base over 96 plate appearances in 2022. Grichuk's stomach issue isn't considered severe, and the Rockies outfielder should be back in the lineup on Friday.

Fri May 6 202210:45Randal Grichuk Belts His Fourth Home Run On Thursday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk collected a pair of hits in Thursday's 9-7 victory over the Washington Nationals. He singled and hit a seventh-inning solo shot while scoring two runs. A move to Coors Field has done wonders for Grichuk thus far, as he's slashing .325/.369/.519 with four home runs, 12 runs, 16 RBI, and a stolen base. The 30-year-old could always hit the ball out of the ballpark with five seasons with at least 22 HRs. However, fantasy managers can now expect Grichuk to greatly improve on his .247 career batting average moving forward.

Sun Apr 17 202212:37Randal Grichuk Back In The Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk (back) has returned to the starting lineup on Sunday against Chicago Cubs left-hander Drew Smyly, playing right field and batting seventh. Grichuk missed three straight games due to lower back tightness, but he took batting practice on Saturday and was cleared to return Sunday. The 30-year-old right-handed power bat is still searching for his first home run as a member of the Rockies, but he does have four hits, two RBI and a stolen base in his first 14 at-bats in his first four games this season. Sam Hilliard, who had started in center field the last two games, will return to the bench with Grichuk back in the lineup.

Sun Apr 17 202200:33Randal Grichuk Dealing With Back Issue
Colorado Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk has missed the last three games due to a back issue that he felt Thursday morning. He felt both sides of his lower back lock, but rotating now feels "ok" as he's been swinging in a cage and took batting practice prior to Saturday's contest versus the Cubs. The injury doesn't appear serious enough for him to be placed on the injured list, but it also doesn't seem like he'll return to the starting lineup before the weekend is over. Look for the club to provide an update on Sunday to give us some more clarity on his situation.

Thu Mar 24 202214:02Rockies Acquire Randal Grichuk From Blue Jays
The Colorado Rockies acquired outfielder Randal Grichuk and cash from the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday in exchange for outfielder Raimel Tapia and minor league infielder Adrian Pinto, according to a source. Grichuk lost playing time as the season progressed last year and finished with a .241/.281/.423 slash line, 22 home runs, 81 RBI and 59 runs scored in 545 plate appearances over 149 games in his fourth season with the Jays. With the designated hitter now in play in the National League, Grichuk should have a shot to play every day in right field with Charlie Blackmon at DH in Colorado. And the hitter-friendly environment at Coors Field certainly won't hurt a fly-ball hitter like Grichuk. His fantasy arrow is pointing up as a late-round selection in drafts.

Fri Sep 24 202119:58Randal Grichuk On The Bench Friday
Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Randal Grichuk is on the bench for Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Bailey Ober. The 29-year-old is batting .246 with a .287 on-base percentage and 22 home runs in 529 plate appearances. It'll be George Springer hitting leadoff and starting in center field on Friday. With Springer back in center field, it'll be worth monitoring for fantasy managers to see if Grichuk gets more starts in the outfield corners or if he moves into a reserve role for the season's final games.

Sat Aug 21 202121:15Randal Grichuk Swats Two-Run Homer In Win
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk provided most of the team's offense on Saturday as his club defeated the Tigers 3-0. The 30-year-old took Wily Peralta to souvenir city for a two-run homer in the second inning to open up the scoring as he finished the afternoon going 1-for-3. Grichuk has slowed down offensively so far in the second half with a .196 BA and two homers in 16 August games. For the season he sits at a modest 21 HR, 51 runs, 74 RBI, and a .248 BA which is serviceable in most formats, but with his bat seemingly slowing down with every month that passes, there's likely better options for fantasy squads down the stretch run.

Tue Aug 3 202118:16Randal Grichuk Out Of The Starting Lineup On Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Zach Plesac and the Cleveland Indians. Corey Dickerson (foot), who was activated from the injured list on Tuesday, is getting the start at designated hitter and batting sixth. This will be his debut with the team. Grichuk has had a great year overall. Through 101 games, he's slashing .253/.283/.454 with 19 home runs, 67 RBI and 44 runs. However, his contact numbers have been down over the last month or so. He hit .197 in July and he has gone just 1-for-7 through his first two games in August. The contact numbers may come and go for Grichuk, but he should remain a strong source of home runs and RBI throughout the rest of the year.

Wed Jul 28 202122:44Reyes nearly hits bicyclist with homer in Indians' win
CLEVELAND (AP) — Franmil Reyes homered twice, the first a second-inning blast that bounced out of Progressive Field and almost dinged a bicyclist pedaling on a street, and the Cleveland Indians beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2 on Wednesday. Reyes’ leadoff homer in the second glanced off the pedestrian bridge in left field and landed on the plaza area between the ballpark and Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The ball traveled an estimated 446 feet. Reyes wasn’t done. He finished off Cleveland’s three-homer inning in the third with his 19th of the season, a 421-foot drive to center. César Hernández and José Ramírez also homered in the inning for Cleveland. Kwang Hyun Kim (6-6) gave up all four homers and lost for the first time since June 20.
