Thu May 7 201515:37Wimbley has elected to retire as NFL player
Wimbley has elected to retire as an NFL player, the Tennessean reports.
The 31-year-old linebacker, who was drafted by the Browns No. 13 overall in 2006, recorded 32 tackles for the Titans in 2014, his third and final season with the team.

Fri Apr 4 201410:52Titans ask DE Kam Wimbley to take a pay cut
The Titans have asked DE Kamerion Wimbley to take a pay cut.
Wimbley is "mulling it over now." He's scheduled to earn $6 million in the third year of a five-year, $35 million contract but obviously isn't going to see it. If Wimbley declines, the Titans would likely release him and save $2.4 million against the cap while eating $5.4 million in dead money. The Titans' transition to a 3-4 defense is a reason for Wimbley to accept the cut and stay.

Fri Mar 7 201417:08Titans yet to approach Wimbley about pay-cut
The Titans have yet to approach DE Kamerion Wimbley about a pay cut.
Wimbley is in the third season of a five-year, $35 million contract and owed $6 million in 2014. The Titans view him as a fit for Ray Horton's hybrid 3-4, but Wimbley could be a candidate for a post June 1 cut if he's unwilling to restructure. Releasing Wimbley would free up $2.4 million in cap space, but leave $5.4 million in dead money.

Sat Feb 8 201413:40Titans DE Wimbley expects to return in 2014
Titans DE Kamerion Wimbley said he expects to be back with the team next season.
Wimbley has failed to live up to expectations since signing a five-year, $35 million contract prior to the 2012 season. He was reduced to a situational pass rusher last year, posting just three sacks and 24 tackles. With the Titans expected to run a 3-4 scheme under DC Ray Horton, Wimbley could be brought back and moved to outside linebacker despite his $6 million base salary. Tennessee can save $2.4 million in cap space by cutting Wimbley this offseason.

Fri Jan 31 201414:49Kam Wimbley not sure he'll return
Titans DE Kam Wimbley admitted at the Super Bowl Friday that he has "no idea" whether he'll return to Tennessee in 2014.
We strongly doubt he will, seeing as the Titans could save $2.4 million in cap space by cutting ties with Wimbley's untenable contract. He only played 360 snaps in 2013, rotating in behind Ropati Pitoitua and Derrick Morgan. Still, Wimbley's best fit is as a 3-4 outside linebacker, and new DC Ray Horton will likely install a 3-4. Horton could give Wimbley a serious look.

Mon Sep 23 201321:14Titans DE Wimbley played just six snaps Sun.
Titans DE Kamerion Wimbley played just six defensive snaps in Week 3.
Wimbley, who carries a $5.8 million cap number in the second year of a five-year, $35 million deal, has played just 59-of-192 defensive snaps after three games. The Titans said they were going to reduce Wimbley's snaps this season after he struggled against the run in 2012, but he hasn't been much more than a spectator. Fellow backups Keyunta Dawson (9) and Karl Klug (9) each played more snaps in Week 3. Wimbley is looking like a lock to be cut in 2014.

Fri Aug 30 201317:56Titans reduce Kam Wimbley's role
Titans coach Mike Munchak confirmed RE Kam Wimbley's role has "changed" and "been reduced" this season.
He's going to be a sub-package rusher only behind LE Ropati Pitoitua and RE Derrick Morgan. The Titans were not pleased with how Wimbley performed as an every-down defensive end in 2012, particularly his run defense. Wimbley is probably in his last year with Tennessee. His 2014 base salary is $6 million.

Fri Jul 26 201316:24Kam Wimbley demoted to 'sub-rusher'
Titans RE Kamerion Wimbley has been demoted out of the first-team defense at training camp.
Derrick Morgan is the starting right end, and Ropati Pitoitua is the new left end. With Tennessee now employing a Seattle-like D-Line rotation, Wimbley will be used as a "sub-rusher" in nickel and dime packages, ala Bruce Irvin. It's an obvious concern for Wimbley's IDP value because he will make fewer tackles.

Fri Aug 24 201218:34Kam Wimbley dominates 3rd preseason game
Titans RE Kamerion Wimbley destroyed the Cardinals in Thursday night's third preseason game, racking up two sacks and three tackles in just over two quarters of action.
He had countless pressures that didn't qualify as "sacks," tormenting John Skelton. Wimbley has played primarily linebacker to this point in his career, so there were some questions about his position switch to right defensive end. While he was admittedly squaring off with a brutal Arizona pass protection group, Wimbley was nothing short of dominant in the regular season tuneup.

Tue Mar 20 201209:02Titans land OLB Wimbley for 5 years, $35M
Titans signed OLB Kamerion Wimbley to a five-year, $35 million contract.
The deal includes $13.5 million guaranteed. Wimbley was already guaranteed $6.5 million for 2012 following his release from the Raiders. He's an excellent consolation prize for a team that missed out on Mario Williams as it got bogged down in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, and should greatly improve a pass rush that notched just 28 sacks in 2011. That was good for 31st in the NFL. Wimbley has played outside linebacker his entire six-year career, but will line up at defensive end in Tennessee's 4-3 defense. He's notched at least 6.5 sacks each of the past three seasons.

Mon Mar 19 201223:45Report: Titans, Wimbley close on 5-year deal
Adam Caplan of thesidelineview.com reports free agent OLB Kamerion Wimbley and the Titans are "close" to a five-year deal.
Negotiations will pick up again Tuesday morning. The highest-impact free agent left on the market, Wimbley would make for a nice consolation prize after the Titans lost out on Mario Williams while preoccupied with Peyton Manning. A 28-year-old pass rusher with 16 sacks over the past two seasons, Wimbley would slot in at defensive end in the Titans' 4-3 defense.

Mon Mar 19 201212:38Titans hosting free agent Wimbley Monday
Free agent OLB Kamerion Wimbley will visit the Titans on Monday.
The Titans were expected to make a push for Mario Williams before getting bogged down in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, but signing Wimbley would be the next best thing. Wimbley hasn't generated any public interest since his Friday release, but has almost certainly been generating significant interest behind the scenes. He's the top remaining free agent with Manning off the board.

Sat Mar 17 201212:22Bears to monitor OLB Kamerion Wimbley
The Bears are expected to "monitor" free agent OLB Kamerion Wimbley.
Teamed with Julius Peppers, Wimbley would give the Bears the league's most fearsome pass-rushing duo, but it's unlikely Chicago has the money to be a serious suitor after re-signing DE Israel Idonije.

Fri Mar 16 201215:13Raiders officially part ways with OLB Wimbley
Raiders released OLB Kamerion Wimbley.
Wimbley was one of the league's top pass rushers last season, but the Raiders simply couldn't afford his $11 million 2012 salary. That's despite the fact that $6.5 million of it was fully guaranteed. Wimbley is now easily the market's top available defender, and should draw another huge contract after re-upping with the Raiders for five years and $48 million last August.

Fri Mar 16 201211:38Report: Raiders to release Wimbley on Friday
NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports the Raiders will release OLB Kamerion Wimbley on Friday.
Wimbley is one of a handful of veterans, including Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb, Ravens LT Bryant McKinnie, Eagles CB Joselio Hanson, and Bills DE Spencer Johnson, with roster bonuses due. With Mario Williams out of the picture, Wimbley will immediately become the most attractive pass rusher on the market.

Mon Mar 12 201220:55Report: Raiders to release Wimbley on Tuesday
League sources tell NFL Network's Jason La Canfora that the Raiders will formally announce the release of OLB Kam Wimbley on Tuesday.
Kevin Boss' release actually hasn't been formally announced yet. Per La Canfora, Boss and Wimbley's releases will be announced together. Wimbley will hit the market as a 28-year-old pass rusher with 16 sacks over the past two seasons and versatility to fit both a 3-4 defense as a linebacker and a 4-3 scheme as a defensive end. Wimbley would be an awfully nice fallback plan for teams that miss out on top free agent pass rusher Mario Williams.

Sun Mar 11 201223:24Patriots not interested in OLB Wimbley?
CSN New England's Tom Curran is "hearing" the Patriots will not pursue OLB Kamerion Wimbley if he's released by the Raiders.
There's been speculation that the Pats, in need of a pass-rusher, would be in the mix, but we've seen nothing convincing. The Bears are expected to take a "long look" at Wimbley, and the Chargers and Cardinals have also been mentioned as potential landing spots.

Sun Mar 11 201212:04Wimbley/Browns reunion unlikely
The Browns aren't expected to consider re-signing OLB Kamerion Wimbley if he's released by the Raiders.
Wimbley reportedly "loved his time" in Cleveland, but the tight-fisted Browns won't be interested in meeting his price tag if he reaches the open market. The delay in Wimbley's release suggests the Raiders are exploring ways to keep him, but he remains most likely to become a free agent.
