English re-signed with the Buccaneers on Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.
English, a 2009 first round pick of the Chargers, was released by the Buccaneers following a preseason that included two sacks last month. However, in light of just one quarterback takedown in Week 1, Tampa Bay has decided to bring back English to add another pass rusher to their setup.

English recorded two sacks off the bench in Saturday's 27-24 win at Buffalo, and is making a strong push to secure one of the team's final roster spots after signing Aug. 14 with Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay Times reporter Greg Auman reports.
English, who was released by the Chargers after recording 11 sacks over five seasons, said he is preparing his body to become a game-changer regardless of where the Buccaneers deploy him. "We've noticed him," Tampa coach Lovie Smith said after the game. "Last week in practice we thought he took steps each day. We have good competition with a few players for some of those last positions on our team."

English has signed with the Buccaneers,
English -- selected by San Diego No. 16 overall in the 2009 draft -- recorded 18 tackles and 2.5 sacks in nine games with the Chargers last season. He'll give the Bucs some added pass-rushing depth out of the outside linebacker slot.
Sat Jul 26 201422:07Free agent Larry English visited with Dallas
Free agent OLB Larry English visited with the Cowboys on Thursday.
English was released by the Chargers earlier this week. He left his visit with Dallas without a contract and remains unsigned. English played outside linebacker in San Diego's 3-4, but could be an option at defensive end in 4-3 schemes. 28-year-old English has just 11 career sacks since being taken with the 16th overall pick in the 2009 draft.

Tue Jul 22 201415:20Chargers release first-round bust OLB English
Chargers released OLB Larry English.
English was the 16th overall pick in the 2009 draft and is not subject to waivers. The 28-year-old has missed 28 games over the past four seasons mostly due to right foot problems. He has 11 career sacks across 52 career games, but has never accumulated more than three in a season. English's roster spot has been in jeopardy the past couple years, and GM Tom Telesco finally cut the cord. He should be able to latch on with another team for the summer.

Sun Feb 9 201416:10Larry English under contract for $1.5 million
Chargers OLB Larry English is under contract for $1.54 million in 2014.
It's notable because NFLPA records list English is an unrestricted free agent. He failed to activate a clause in his rookie contract that would've voided English's deal from six years to five, however, and is now signed through 2014. The Chargers could still release English, of course, if they deem him unworthy of a $1.54 million salary. He's managed 11 sacks across 42 career games.

Tue Nov 12 201317:08Biceps sends Larry English to injured reserve
Chargers placed OLB Larry English on injured reserve with a biceps injury, ending his season.
It's yet another blow for a team that's been dropping pass rushers all season. The 2009 first-rounder was not in the midst of a stellar campaign, but had notched 2.5 sacks in nine games. He was a bottom-10 player in Pro Football Focus' 3-4 outside linebacker ratings, however. English will be a free agent in the offseason, so it's quite possible he's played his final snap as a Charger. English has just 11 career sacks in 52 games, and struggled mightily with injuries. He's appeared in only 36 games since the start of the 2010 season.

Sun Nov 10 201318:38Larry English goes down with biceps injury
Chargers OLB Larry English was forced from Sunday's game against the Broncos with a biceps injury, and will not return.
It leaves the Chargers' pass rush perilously thin. English notched a sack before going down, bringing his season total to 2.5.

Sat May 18 201321:00Chargers LB English could see expanded role
The Union-Tribune San Diego says OLB Larry English could have an expanded role this season.
The Chargers are desperate for pass rushers with Melvin Ingram (ACL surgery) out for the year. Dwight Freeney was added to the mix on Saturday, but English could still see semi-regular snaps at outside linebacker. The 16th overall pick in 2009, English has been a massive bust to this point. He posted a career-low 1.5 sacks in 14 games last season.

Mon Apr 22 201300:47Chargers drafted poorly 2005-2009
Just four of the 35 players drafted by the Chargers from 2005-2009 remain on the roster.
We don't usually post items like this, but the draft stat was too good to pass up. The four players are backups Charlie Whitehurst and Larry English, free safety Eric Weddle and struggling right tackle Jeromey Clary. If you wanted to know why the Chargers' roster deteriorated so quickly, here is your answer. They drafted incredibly poorly under since-fired general manager A.J. Smith.

Sat Nov 24 201219:48Chargers rule out English (calf) for Week 12
Chargers OLB Larry English (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
English started the Chargers' last eight games, but is rotated heavily with Shaun Phillips and Jarrett Johnson. An MRI on Monday confirmed he's just dealing with a strain, so there's a chance he'll return in Week 13.

"For the first time in a long time, I don't worry about my foot," English said. "I don't even think about it. I just go out there and go play." English had two sacks and seven tackles in the preseason, and will be looking to earn a role in sub-packages behind Shaun Phillips, Jarret Johnson, and Melvin Ingram.

Fri Jul 27 201221:25Larry English may get cut after camp
Chargers 2009 first-round pick Larry English is in danger of losing his roster spot this training camp.
English has already missed practice time and the Chargers are losing patience, particularly after using a first-round pick on Melvin Ingram. English, 26, is no longer on scholarship. He's missed 19 games through his first three NFL seasons, and tied a career low with two sacks in five 2011 appearances.

Wed Jun 6 201212:10Chargers OLB English resumes practicing
Chargers OLB Larry English participated in 11-on-11 drills Tuesday for the first time since breaking his right foot in October.
The right foot that has plagued English for the past few years has been healthy for awhile, but a sore groin forced him to miss the opening OTAs. With the offseason additions of Jarret Johnson and first-rounder Melvin Ingram, English will be limited to a situational pass-rushing role in 2012.

Wed Apr 25 201212:07Chargers OLB English back to full health
Chargers OLB Larry English (broken foot) insists his body feels "the best it's felt in a long time."
English has been on the field with teammates for the start of the offseason workout program. After missing 19 games due to a pair of surgeries on his left foot the past two seasons, the 2009 first-rounder is purely a wild-card for the Bolts in 2012.

Wed Oct 26 201114:56Chargers place English on injured reserve
Chargers placed OLB Larry English on injured reserve with another broken foot, ending his season.
The 16th pick in the 2009 draft, English will require a third surgery on his troublesome left foot. English will end up having missed 19-of-32 possible games over the past two seasons. The Chargers probably aren't ready to completely turn the page, but that time is nearing. English has failed to establish himself as a starting-caliber player with seven sacks in 29 career games.

Tue Oct 25 201112:55Chargers OLB English breaks foot again
Chargers OLB Larry English has been diagnosed with a broken foot.
No official word yet, but this is almost certainly another issue with English's troublesome left foot. The No. 16 overall pick in the 2009 draft underwent a second operation on the foot in March and never seemed to fully recover. He has played in just 13 games over the last two seasons.

Chargers OLB Larry English was active for Sunday's loss to the Patriots.
English was a healthy scratch in Week 1 and rotated with Travis LaBoy yesterday, recording two tackles. The 2009 No. 16 overall pick is showing no signs of a breakout.
