Sun Aug 30 201519:54Mundy (hip) placed on season-ending injured reserve Sunday
Mundy (hip) was placed on season-ending injured reserve Sunday, CBS 2 Chicago's Zach Zaidman reports.
Mundy's hip injury was previously believed to be minor, but it turns out that isn't the case. A 16-game starter last season, he was expected to provide depth behind Antrell Rolle and Adrian Amos, the projected starters at safety.

Mundy missed Saturday's preseason victory over the Colts with a minor hip injury, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Mundy has yet to suit up this preseason, which could put him behind the eight ball as he aims to ward off youngsters Brock Vereen and Adrian Amos for the other starting job opposite Antrel Rolle. The Bears are likely earmarking one of the younger safeties for a long-term starting role, but with neither distinguishing themselves much to this point, Mundy has only need to get healthy in order to vault back ahead of them on the depth chart. Mundy had the best season of his career in 2014 as a first-time 16-game starter, recording 103 tackles, four interceptions, one sack, and a touchdown.

Mundy isn't expected to challenge for a starting role this season at one of the Bears' two safety spots, ESPN.com reports.
Though Mundy led the Bears with 103 tackles and tied for the top honors on the team in interceptions (four), it was mostly a product of circumstance than pure skill. After veteran Antrel Rolle was signed in the offseason to play strong safety, it appears Mundy won't be given a legitimate chance at competing for the free safety role, where Brock Vereen and rookie Adrian Amos are the top candidates for those duties. Instead, Mundy is expected to see most of his work as part of sub packages, where his lower expected snap count will make tackle opportunities more scarce.

Mundy finished the 2014 season as the Bears' leader in tackles and was tied for the team lead in interceptions, accruing 103 stops to go along with four picks.
In real-life terms, Mundy doesn't grade out as one of the league's better safeties, but he was a pleasant surprise in the fantasy realm. Playing behind an underachieving front seven, Mundy racked up tackles at a strong clip in the second half of the season, topping the century mark for the first time in his career and ranking 10th among all defensive backs in the category. He'll be under a contract for one more season and should be in line for a starting role again in 2015.

Mundy recorded three stops and an interception in the Bears' Week 16 loss to the Lions.
Mundy has really come through for those in IDP leagues who might have rolled the dice with him at one of their defensive back spots over the second half of the season. Despite the Bears' defense often being torched in those contests, Mundy has amassed 58 tackles, three interceptions and a sack over his last eight contests. The turnovers are probably a bit fluky, but the tackle opportunities should remain plentiful for Mundy when the Bears take on the Vikings in Sunday's season finale.

Mundy accrued nine tackles and registered his first sack of the season in Monday's loss to the Saints.
The Bears' defense is struggling mightily right now, and while Mundy's deficiencies in coverage have often contributed to that, he's still racking up the counting stats. The safety leads the Bears with 89 tackles on the season and has really stepped up his production of late, finishing with at least eight tackles or an interception in six of his last seven contests. He could make for a serviceable IDP play from the defensive back spot over the final two weeks of the season.

Mundy gathered six tackles in last Thursday's loss to the Cowboys.
While not a standout player at safety, Mundy has enjoyed a productive run over the last six weeks. During that span, he's collected two interceptions to go along with 46 total stops, with most of those tackle opportunities owing to the Bears' porous team defense over that span. He could make for a viable addition to fantasy rosters in Week 15, when the Bears will face the Saints on Monday Night Football.

Mundy tallied eight tackles and intercepted a pass in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers.
Mundy has interceptions in back-to-back weeks and leads the Bears in tackles, but his total in the latter category pales in comparison to some of the top-tier IDP safeties. His fantasy value mostly remains limited to deeper formats at this point.

Mundy registered a season-best 11 tackles in Sunday's 55-14 loss to the Packers.
Mundy has compiled a team-leading 20 tackles over his last two games, but that doesn't exactly provide an accurate illustration of how he's performed. He and fellow safety Chris Conte didn't offer much assistance on deep routes Sunday, as Jordy Nelson found himself wide open on two deep touchdowns and quite possibly an additional one if not for a 53-yard pass interference penalty on Tim Jennings.

Mundy registered a season-high nine tackles in Sunday's 51-23 loss to the Patriots.
Mundy looked utterly helpless containing Rob Gronkowski and the rest of a Patriots receiving corps that torched the Bears for 365 yards through the air on the afternoon, but at least he was able to collect plenty of tackles along the way. The nine stops nearly matched his collective total from the previous three weeks combined (10), and that lack of consistency in his production probably makes him an unreliable IDP option.

Mundy (neck) recorded a team-leading eight tackles in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
After leaving the Bears' Week 3 contest early due to the neck injury, Mundy returned to action Sunday without any apparent limitations. He's posted a respectable 24 stops to go along with an interception return for a touchdown through four games this season.
Sun Sep 28 201412:06Mundy (neck) active for Sunday's game against Packers
Mundy (neck) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers, Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago reports.
Despite leaving Monday night's win over the Jets early due to the neck concern, Mundy was given clearance to play after turning in full practices Thursday and Friday. Mundy will make his fourth start of the season at safety Sunday and is steadily picking up momentum as an IDP option, after turning in 16 tackles and in his interception in his first three contests.
Fri Sep 26 201415:12Mundy (neck) probable for Sunday's game against Green Bay
Mundy (neck) is probable for Sunday's game against Green Bay.
Mundy left last week's game early with the injury, but it hasn't been an issue in practice this week. He had seven tackles in each of his first two games with the Bears before leaving last week's game early.
Thu Sep 25 201418:48Mundy (neck) full practice participant Thursday
Mundy (neck) was a full practice participant Thursday, the Bears' official site reports.
Prior to suffering a stinger during Monday's victory at the Jets, Mundy tallied two tackles and an interception return for a touchdown. Among the Bears' starting safety tandem, Mundy seems much more likely to take the field Sunday against the Packers, as Chris Conte (shoulder) remains limited in drills. As the week draws to a close, the situation could very well clear up, revealing likely probable status for Mundy.
Wed Sep 24 201420:45Mundy (shoulder) limited in Wednesday's practice
Mundy (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
The Bears' starting safeties, Mundy and Chris Conte, are both dealing with shoulder concerns, which resulted in a cap in reps Wednesday. Mundy will likely play Sunday against the Packers, if he's healthy enough for numerous snaps, but his availability should be watched closely as the week continues.
Tue Sep 23 201401:06Mundy suffered serious stinger during Monday's win over Jets
Mundy, who returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, suffered a serious stinger during Monday's win over the Jets, ESPN Chicago's Jeff Dickerson reports.
Munday was initially deemed questionable to return with a shoulder injury, but the neck stinger could be quite a bit more serious. The Bears also lost Chris Conte to a shoulder injury, leaving the team without either of its starters at safety. Brock Vereen, Danny McCray and Ahmad Dixon are the remaining safeties on the roster.

Mundy sustained a shoulder injury during Monday's game against the Jets and is questionable to return, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Mundy left Monday's contest with two tackles on the night. It's still unclear if he'll be able to add onto that total with his current questionable status. During Mundy's absence, Ahmad Dixon is the likely replacement.
Tue Sep 16 201406:21Mundy compiled seven tackles in Sunday's win over 49ers
Mundy compiled seven tackles in Sunday's win over the 49ers.
Mundy has turned in identical stat lines for the first two weeks of the season and is the Bears' early leader in total tackles. Among defensive backs, he's still outside the league's top 20 in that category, however, making him safe to ignore in most IDP leagues for the time being.
Thu Sep 4 201411:43Mundy will open season for Bears as their starting strong safety
Mundy will open the season for the Bears as their starting strong safety, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Mundy started nine games and appeared as a reserve in the remaining seven regular-season contests for the Steelers last season, accumulating 77 tackles and an interception. It's uncertain if Mundy will be paired with Danny McCray or Chris Conte (concussion) at safety in Week 1, but either way, his lack of playmaking ability might make it difficult for him to attain much relevance as an IDP.

Mundy opened Friday's preseason game against the Eagles as one of two starting safeties for the Bears.
Mundy contributed an interception in the exhibition victory, but the race for the two starting safety jobs is still far from decided. The Bears have rotated several options between the first- and second-team defenses throughout practices, though Mundy might have helped strengthen his case for one of the jobs by forcing the turnover Friday.
