Mon Oct 27 201415:28Marshall released by Chargers on Monday
Marshall was released by the Chargers on Monday, NFL.com reports.
Marshall played an expanded snap count Thursday against the Broncos in wake of injuries to the Chargers' secondary; however, he was exposed on numerous occasions by Denver wideout Emmanuel Sanders. Following that sub-par performance, Marshall will now hit the free agent market and hope to provide veteran depth elsewhere in the league.
Fri Mar 14 201409:12Chargers re-sign CB Marshall to 1-year deal
Chargers re-signed CB Richard Marshall to a one-year contract.
Marshall, 29, appeared in all 16 games for the Bolts last season, starting the final six and the two playoff games. He's a burn victim in coverage but isn't afraid to get his nose dirty in the run game at 5-foot-11, 198 pounds. GM Tom Telesco is trying to piece a cornerback depth chart together. Ideally, Marshall is a No. 3 or 4.

The Jaguars hosted free agent DB Richard Marshall on Friday.
Marshall could be a candidate to start in Jacksonville, upgrading on Alan Ball opposite rookie Dwayne Gratz. Marshall can also play slot corner and safety. Per PFT's Mike Florio, the Chargers "remain in the mix" to sign Marshall.

Tue Aug 20 201320:14Dolphins give up on CB Marshall after 1 year
Dolphins released CB Richard Marshall.
Another cog of GM Jeff Ireland's two-year masterplan down the drain. The move clears $4.55 million in salary. Overpaid to the tune of a three-year, $16 million contract in 2012, Marshall was limited to just four games by a back injury last season. Those are four games for which he was paid over $5 million. Marshall is hard-nosed and versatile, but was miscast as an outside starter. Ireland's admission of defeat is made more stunning by the fact that he has no clear alternative opposite Brent Grimes. Perhaps Ireland is ready to throw second-rounder Jamar Taylor into the fire, but career slot-man Dimitri Patterson is the best bet.

Mon Jul 15 201313:53Richard Marshall overcomes back problems
Dolphins RCB Richard Marshall has "moved past" his 2012 back problems and is fully expected to open the season as a starter.
Marshall and LCB Brent Grimes are markered in as Miami's Week 1 bookend corners. Rookies Jamar Taylor and Will Davis, along with veteran Dimitri Patterson, will push Nolan Carroll at nickel back. Marshall had back surgery last November to repair two ruptured disks. When healthy, he's a versatile if inconsistent cover man capable of covering the slot and playing some safety.

Dolphins CB Richard Marshall says his surgically repaired back has healed enough that he could play in a game today.
The Fins may hold Marshall out of early-offseason workouts as a precaution, but it sounds like he's pretty close to 100 percent. Marshall is currently the top corner on Miami's roster signed for 2013, as Sean Smith is a free agent. Expect Marshall to open the season as a starter barring something unforeseen.

Fri Jan 18 201312:59Richard Marshall a candidate for release?
The Miami Herald suggests Dolphins CB Richard Marshall is a candidate for offseason release.
The Fins signed Marshall to a three-year, $16 million deal last offseason, but he struggled in coverage before rupturing two disks in his back in late September. The repair required a "daylong" surgery. Marshall is owed $4.55 million in 2013, and cutting him would save $3.02 million under the salary cap.

Tue Dec 18 201223:17Richard Marshall beginning to rehab
Dolphins CB Richard Marshall (back surgery) has begun to rehab.
Marshall underwent a "daylong" procedure in November to repair two ruptured disks. He's yet to be cleared to run, but "if all goes well," he'll be ready for OTAs. Signed through 2014, Marshall was shaky as he played through injury this season, and is unlikely to be guaranteed a starting job next summer.

Wed Nov 7 201217:38Richard Marshall placed on I.R.
Dolphins placed CB Richard Marshall (back) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Marshall showed promise in early in the season after the Dolphins cut bait with Vontae Davis and handed him the starting job, but he hasn't seen the field since Week 4. Nolan Carroll will likely remain the starter at RCB going forward.

Tue Oct 16 201211:22Richard Marshall expects to play after bye
Dolphins CB Richard Marshall (back) expects to play when the Dolphins come out of their bye in Week 8.
Marshall's back pain has been so severe that he's been on crutches. He expects to get into a hyperbaric chamber this week and get the back loose enough to play. Replacement Nolan Carroll has fared well in Marshall's two-game absence.

Mon Oct 8 201213:40Richard Marshall seen with 'bad limp'
Dolphins CB Richard Marshall (back) was seen at the team facility Monday walking with a "bad limp" and using a crutch.
There's no timetable for Marshall's return. The Dolphins' pass defense held up well against Andy Dalton without its No. 2 cornerback, and faces St. Louis in Week 6 before a Week 7 bye. Perhaps Marshall will return after the open date. The Dolphins do get another cupcake pass-game matchup against the Jets in Week 8.

Fri Oct 5 201214:05Richard Marshall ruled out for Week 5
Dolphins CB Richard Marshall (back) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Bengals.
Although we anticipate Sean Smith shadowing A.J. Green in the Week 5 game, missing Marshall can't hurt Green's already promising chances of a big day. The Dolphins will turn to Nolan Carroll as a starting corner opposite Smith.

Sat Sep 29 201212:12Richard Marshall's up in the air for Week 4
Dolphins CB Richard Marshall (back) is listed as questionable and his status for Week 4 is up in the air.
Marshall missed Thursday's practice, but was limited on Friday. If Marshall is unable to play, the Dolphins would likely turn to Nolan Carroll at RCB. This downgrade in coverage would be a huge boost to the resurgent Cardinals passing game.

Thu Sep 27 201212:28Richard Marshall suddenly sidelined
Dolphins CB Richard Marshall (back) did not practice Thursday.
It looks like a setback for Marshall, who did get a limited workout in on Wednesday. If he can't go against the Cardinals Sunday, it will be a big blow to the Dolphins' secondary. Nolan Carroll, who is dealing with an Achilles' tendon issue of his own, is the next man up.
