Martin signed a one-year contract with the Bears on Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Martin, who was cut by the Bears in training camp, re-signed with the team after Antrel Rolle suffered a foot injury in Sunday's win over the Raiders, putting his status in question for the Week 5 game against the Chiefs. If Rolle is unavailable for that contest, Martin or backup Harold Jones-Quartey could see the start at strong safety.

Martin was released by the Bears during final roster cuts, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Bears determined that Harold Jones-Quartey, who was claimed off waivers from the Cardinals, would be a better option for their safety ranks than Martin. He had appeared in 13 games last season for the Bears, recording 16 tackles and an interception.
