Mon Sep 7 201514:40Dahl signed with Giants on Monday
Dahl signed with the Giants on Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports.
Dahl will take over the roster spot of safety Stevie Brown, who was released Monday in a corresponding move. The 49ers had similarly cut Dahl earlier in camp, but the Giants may be able to etch out a more significant role for him on their club. Dahl appeared in 16 games last season for the Niners, producing 23 tackles and an interception.

Dahl got the start Sunday and racked up 10 tackles (all solo) and an interception in the win over the Cardinals.
Dahl got the start in place of the injured Eric Reid (concussion) and delivered the best game of his career. The 29-year-old veteran has been a special teams player for most of his career, and he will likely return to that role in 2015 assuming both Reid and Antoine Bethea are healthy.
Mon Feb 24 201415:37Craig Dahl agrees to $525,000 pay cut
49ers S Craig Dahl has agreed to a $525,000 pay cut.
Dahl has slashed his $1.35 million salary to $825,000, getting $365,000 guaranteed in return. Another $175,000 is possible through in-game roster bonuses. The maneuver created $600,000 in cap space. Dahl played just 89 snaps on defense last season, and isn't guaranteed a roster spot for 2014 despite his $365K guarantee.

Wed Jun 12 201319:2849ers tipped plays to opposing defenses
49ers safety Craig Dahl informed his new coaches that the Rams were able to predict the team's play calls last season.
The 49ers were reportedly already aware of the problem, and some were quick to attribute the signing of Eric Mangini to this issue. We're not convinced this was the sole reason for bringing in Mangini, but it is interesting to hear at least one team thought the team's play calling was predictable. According to Dahl, the 49ers have corrected the problem with the help of his input and "self-scouting."

Sat Mar 16 201316:4949ers sign S Craig Dahl
49ers signed S Craig Dahl, formerly of the Rams, to a three-year contract.
Dahl, 28 in June, started all 16 games in 2012, racking up 78 tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception. Dahl isn't a sure tackler and often times gets lost in coverage, so he'll likely be the third safety in San Francisco. Look for the 49ers to target someone like Charles Woodson or an early draft pick to replace Dashon Goldson in the starting lineup.

Fri Mar 15 201318:25S Craig Dahl to visit the 49ers
Free agent S Craig Dahl will visit the 49ers.
Dahl was routinely burned in coverage with the Rams, and was caught numerous times tackling the air around him. He started all 16 games last season, but he will never be viewed as a starter at any point over the rest of his career. Dahl isn't a capable replacement for Dashon Goldson.

Fri Jan 4 201314:11Rams not expected to re-sign Craig Dahl
The Rams are not expected to re-sign free agent S Craig Dahl this offseason.
St. Louis is expected to pursue "a better coverage option" at the free safety spot. Dahl, 27, is no better than a replacement-level talent and forced just one turnover in 16 starts in 2012. He should resurface elsewhere as a backup.

Rams S Craig Dahl was forced from St. Louis' Week 14 game against the Bills with a head injury.
Dahl is officially questionable to return, but is believed to have a concussion. The Achilles' heel of the Rams secondary, Dahl has been replaced by Darian Stewart.

Fri Aug 3 201211:34Craig Dahl, Stewart battling for FS job
Craig Dahl and Darian Stewart are alternating reps with the first-team defense at free safety.
These two also battled for the job in 2011, with Dahl opening the season with the gig. That lasted just five games though, as Stewart took over for the final 11 games of the season. The Rams secondary actually ranked seventh in the league last year.

Mon May 9 201114:10Craig Dahl looks to be Rams' top free safety
Craig Dahl is the only player listed as a free safety on the Rams' post-draft offseason roster.
The rest of St. Louis' safeties are just listed as "S", or as strong safeties ("SS"). Dahl started 13 games last season, although the majority of his starts were at strong safety. He recorded 98 tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble, and is currently the best safety on the Rams' roster.

Tue Sep 28 201012:48Dahl passes exertion test Monday
Rams SS Craig Dahl (concussion) passed an exertion test Monday and will be examined by an independent neurological consultant Tuesday.
The earliest Dahl, who missed the Redskins game after suffering a concussion in the fourth quarter of Week 2, could return to practice is likely Thursday. James Butler played pretty well in Week 3 in Dahl's place and isn't really a downgrade.

Mon Sep 20 201010:50Dahl suffers concussion
Rams S Craig Dahl left Sunday's loss to the Raiders in the fourth quarter with a concussion and did not return.
Dahl had 10 tackles before leaving. He'll likely miss this week's game against the Redskins, leaving James Butler as the starter at strong safety.

Mon Aug 30 201016:07Craig Dahl likely to begin year as starter
Craig Dahl is likely to open the season as the Rams' starting strong safety with James Butler (knee) still on the shelf.
We're not even sure Butler is going to make the final roster at this point, as he was listed as a third-stringer on St. Louis' latest depth chart. Butler is dealing with a sprained MCL. Free safety O.J. Atogwe is the Rams' defensive back to target in IDP leagues, but Dahl is worth a look in deeper formats.

Fri Aug 13 201008:04Dahl will start Saturday
Craig Dahl will start at strong safety in place of James Butler (sprained MCL) in the preseason opener Saturday.
Dahl isn't new to the starting lineup after he filled in at both safety spots a year ago. Butler is expected to miss a few more weeks, so Dahl could be an early season plug-n-play in IDP circles.

Wed Jun 2 201010:49Dahl working in place of O.J.
Craig Dahl has been working as the Rams first-team free safety this offseason.
O.J. Atogwe's situation is still very much up in the air, but now that he's a free agent there's a possibility Dahl will be the Rams' starter in 2010. Dahl was relatively productive off the bench last season and the free safety spot behind the Rams' leaky front seven is a good spot for IDP numbers.
