Smith had six tackles (two solo) and two passes defensed in Sunday's 19-13 loss to the Broncos.
Smith dropped a potential pick-six, but he otherwise played a solid game. He and C.J. Mosley will both serve in every-down roles for a second straight season, as the Ravens typically remove a lineman when they use their dime defense.

Smith finished the 2014 regular season with 128 tackles (68 solo), a sack, an interception, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovered and nine passes defensed.
Rookie inside linebacker C.J. Mosley rapidly emerged as a force, and yet Smith actually recorded more tackles than he did in 2013. Both players stayed on the field for nearly every snap, and it will likely be more of the same in 2015. Mosley offers more upside, but Smith is an excellent IDP option in his right.

Smith (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Smith did not practice Wednesday but was able to participate Thursday and Friday, which prompted his probable tag. He's got 37 tackles, one forced fumble and two pass deflections so far this season and figures to get a few more opportunities against a Bucs' offense that has moved the ball well of late.

Smith (knee) is officially listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Smith didn't practice Wednesday but was back for Thursday. The fact that he is listed as probable for Sunday and is trending in the right direction makes it seem likely he will suit up Sunday. Through five games, Smith has 37 tackles (20 solo), a forced fumble and two pass deflections.

Playing every defensive snap for a second straight week, Smith recorded eight tackles (five solo), two pass defenses and a forced fumble in Thursday's 26-6 win over the Steelers.
Smith provided what was perhaps the most important play of the night, forcing a red-zone fumble to end Pittsburgh's eight-minute, game-opening drive. The Ravens proceeded to march 85 yards for a touchdown, and then played solid defense for the rest of the night. Through two weeks, the Ravens have used two inside linebackers on every play, with rookie first-rounder C.J. Mosley lining up alongside Smith.

Smith played every defensive snap in Sunday's loss to the Bengals, finishing with nine tackles (four solo)
Smith and C.J. Mosley both played every snap, as the Ravens were able to keep two inside linebackers on the field all game against a Bengals team with limited wide receiver depth. One of the two may need to occasionally come off when the Ravens face four-wide sets, but it looks like the team will have two viable IDP producers at inside linebacker.
Mon Aug 4 201418:52Smith (groin) returned to practice Monday
Smith (groin) returned to practice Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.
After five days off from drills, Smith is looking to hold down the fort at outside linebacker opposite Terrell Suggs. After recording 100-plus tackles for the second time in three seasons, with an injured-plagued 2012 the only fault, the 32-year-old Smith is a proven high-volume tackler, with playmaking ability to boot.
Fri Aug 1 201416:57Smith has not practiced since injuring groin Monday
Smith has not practiced since injuring his groin Monday, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Smith lost most of 2012 to a groin injury, then dealt with a thigh issue during his bounce-back season in 2013. There isn't a ton of cause for concern at this stage, but Smith's history makes the issue a bit more worrisome than your average minor training camp injury. While the veteran is all but assured of a starting job after inking a four-year, $16 million contract in the offseason, the Ravens do have a pair of intriguing, young inside linebackers in 2014 first-round pick CJ Mosley and 2013 second-round pick Arthur Brown. Brown will most likely be the odd man out in terms of a starting role, but he's a fantastic athlete who may eventually be hard to keep off the field. While Smith still has the potential to make for an excellent IDP, the Ravens' improved depth at his position is cause for a small downgrade.
Fri Mar 14 201411:18Ravens re-up ILB Daryl Smith for 4 yrs, $16M
Ravens re-signed ILB Daryl Smith to a four-year, $16.1 million contract.
After operating on a cheap, one-year deal last season, Smith gets the money he was seeking last spring. Turning 32 today, Smith led the Ravens with 123 tackles in 2013 and became the defensive leader as the on-field play-caller. Smith struggles against the run but is an elite cover linebacker and can rush the passer some. He'll continue to help youngsters Arthur Brown and Josh Bynes.

Wed Mar 12 201408:38Daryl Smith, Ravens disagree on numbers
Sources tell the Baltimore Sun that the Ravens and ILB Daryl Smith still have a "disconnect" on contract numbers.
Smith led the Ravens in tackles with 123 last season, playing all but two defensive snaps. GM Ozzie Newsome needs him back. Smith is likely hunting for more money than originally expected after watching 32-year-old Karlos Dansby squeeze four years and $24 million out of the Browns.

Sat Mar 1 201413:02Re-signing Daryl Smith a priorty for Ravens
The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson says the Ravens consider free agent ILB Daryl Smith a "priority to retain."
Wilson added a deal was not imminent. The report comes as a surprise as all news out of Baltimore suggested Smith would be allowed to test the market. Baltimore still may allow that to happen, but it appears they are keen to re-sign the 31-year-old. Smith led the Ravens with 123 tackles last season and played all but two defensive snaps. He is our No. 4 free agent inside linebacker.

Tue Dec 31 201309:09Daryl Smith wants to be back with Ravens
Impending free agent ILB Daryl Smith wants to re-sign with the Ravens and believes the team wants him to return.
Smith, 31, didn't sign with Baltimore until June after seeing a very quiet market while coming off an injury-plagued season in Jacksonville. He ended up starting all 16 games for the Ravens, missing just two defensive snaps. Smith set new career-highs in tackles (123), sacks (5), interceptions (3), and pass breakups (19) and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 19 inside 'backer.

Sat Aug 10 201314:43Daryl Smith becoming QB of Ravens defense
Ravens coach John Harbaugh says ILB Daryl Smith is already becoming "a quarterback of the defense."
Signed to a cheap, one-year deal in June, Smith has already taken control of a starting job and is calling Baltimore's defensive plays. The Ravens feel Smith will prove "one of the best bargains of the offseason" if he stays healthy. Smith -- not rookie Arthur Brown -- is being asked to fill Ray Lewis' shoes.
