Thu May 21 201511:11Beatty could miss five-to-six months of action
Beatty, who tore his pectoral muscle while lifting weights, could miss five-to-six months of action, nj.com reports.
The Giants' left tackle underwent surgery to repair the issue and based on that timetable it's clear that he'll miss time at the start of the coming season. His injury is a blow to the team's offensive line and presumably puts top draft pick Ereck Flowers (who had been penciled in to work at right tackle) in a position where he must fill in for Beatty out of the gate.
Tue Jul 1 201411:18Beatty (leg) expects to be ready for camp
Giants LT Will Beatty (leg) expects to be ready for the start of training camp.
Beatty broke his leg in the season finale and sat out the entire spring. OL coach Pat Flaherty indicated Beatty will have to come back and earn his starting job after a miserable 2013. Charles Brown, James Brewer, and Justin Pugh all have the ability to line up at left tackle. Brown is Beatty's main competition.

Thu May 29 201415:56Will Beatty sidelined until training camp
Giants LT Will Beatty (leg) is expected to remain sidelined until training camp.
Beatty said last month that he was ahead of schedule, but the G-Men have little to gain by pushing their left tackle's progress.

Tue Apr 22 201413:16Giants LT Will Beatty (leg) ahead of schedule
Giants LT Will Beatty (leg) said he's ahead of schedule in his rehab.
Beatty broke his right leg in the season finale and is still questionable for the start of the season. He'll be given every opportunity to hold down the left side of the Giants' line, but the G-Men have a number of versatile linemen that can play multiple positions up front. Charles Brown and Justin Pugh are left-tackle options.

Mon Jan 6 201414:02Will Beatty undergoes surgery on broken tibia
Giants LT Will Beatty underwent surgery Monday to repair his fractured right tibia.
Per beat writer Ralph Vacchiano, Beatty "should be ready" for the start of the 2014 season. His training camp availability may be more murky. At coach Tom Coughlin's year-ending presser, he spoke openly of potentially moving RT Justin Pugh to left tackle. Beatty is coming back to the G-Men, but may have to compete with an offseason acquisition to start on the right side.

Tue Dec 31 201309:33Giants LT Beatty (leg) expected for Week 1
The Giants expect LT Will Beaty (leg) to be ready for the 2014 season opener.
Beatty broke his right leg in the meaningless Week 17 finale against the Redskins. He'll likely miss a chunk of the offseason. Depending on how severe the fracture is, Beatty should be ready in time for Week 1. He just wrapped up the first year of a five-year, $37.5 million deal. Beatty graded out near the bottom of Pro Football Focus' tackle rankings and gave up a league-high 13 sacks.

Giants LT Will Beatty left Sunday's Week 17 game against the Redskins with an apparent leg injury.

Sat Mar 2 201315:50Will Beatty's deal is worth $37.5 million
Updating a previous item, Giants LT Will Beatty's new five-year contract is worth $37.5 million.
The sum was originally announced at $38.75 million, but that includes escalators available on Beatty's 2014-2017 salaries that may or may not be earned. Beatty's contract is fully guaranteed in 2013 and 2014, and he'll collect $24 million over the first three years. The deal's annual average is $7.5 million.

Wed Feb 27 201314:58Giants re-up LT Beatty for five years, $38.8M
Giants re-signed LT Will Beatty to a five-year, $38.75 million deal.
The Newark Star-Ledger reports the deal includes $19 million guaranteed. It's a nice haul for a player who finally stayed healthy last season after missing 14 combined games between 2010-11. Three days shy of his 28th birthday, Beatty allowed just three sacks and 22 hurries in 967 snaps last season. He was never expected to reach free agency.

Mon Feb 25 201319:59Just 'minor issues' between Giants and Beatty
USA Today's Mike Garafolo says the Giants and free agent LT Will Beatty have just "minor issues" to resolve in contract negotiations.
Speaking to Giants fans, Garafolo tweeted, "I wouldn't sweat Will Beatty's free agency. Lots of time to resolve what I'm hearing are minor issues." Beatty has long been considered New York's top priority among their own free agents, and it appears a deal is likely to get done before March 12. His signing would leave the Giants feeling a lot more comfortable on the offensive line heading into free agency and the draft.

Sat Feb 23 201316:07Giants have 'some conversations' with Beatty
Giants GM Jerry Reese says there has been "some conversation" with free agent LT Will Beatty.
Beatty is the Giants' top free agent, along with Martellus Bennett, but neither is a likely option for the franchise tag. It might be wise for teams to let their free-agent offensive tackles hit the market because the talent pool is deep, therefore lowering their price tags.

Tue Feb 19 201312:34Giants not expected to use franchise tag
Owner John Mara said the Giants will "probably not" use the franchise tag this year.

Sun Feb 17 201310:45Beatty an option to be tagged by the Giants?
Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News considers free agent LT Will Beatty an option for the Giants' franchise tag.
Vacchiano "hears" that re-signing Beatty is the Giants' highest priority among their own free agents, and that coincides with what ESPN New York has been saying since the season ended. The franchise number for Beatty would be about $9.7 million, but the team's preference is a long-term deal. Vacchiano doesn't envision the G-Men using the tag, but Beatty would be the most likely option if the team feels an extension can be worked out before the season.

Sat Feb 9 201313:46LT Beatty the Giants' 'highest priority?'
ESPN New York says re-signing impending free agent LT Will Beatty "might be the Giants' highest priority" among their own free agents.
Beatty and TE Martellus Bennett are the two free agents the Giants appear dead-set on keeping for the 2013 season and beyond. Beatty, 28 in March, battled back issues last offseason, but he stepped in and started 15-of-16 games in 2012, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No.12 overall tackle. He's part of a strong offensive tackle free-agent group.

Tue Jan 29 201309:59Will Beatty a priority for Giants?
ESPN New York considers LT Will Beatty the Giants' "biggest" free agent.
Despite some ongoing back woes, Beatty was solid while guarding Eli Manning's blind side in all 16 games. Turning 28 in March and entering his prime, he'll be looking for franchise left tackle kind of money. We have Beatty ranked sixth among free agent tackles, behind only Ryan Clady, Andre Smith, Branden Albert, Jake Long and Sebastian Vollmer.

Tue Aug 28 201212:10William Beatty returns to practice
Giants LT William Beatty (back) returned to practice on Monday.
"He practiced a little bit," was all coach Tom Coughlin would offer up for comment. The Giants' season opener is just eight days away, but it's looking like Beatty will be ready after missing a majority of camp.

Mon Aug 20 201218:21William Beatty 'still struggling' with back
Giants LT William Beatty is "still struggling" with his back issues.
Beatty has missed both of the Giants' preseason games, and is sounding shaky for Week 1. The Newark Star-Ledger believes the Giants will shift RT David Diehl to the blindside and plug Sean Locklear in at right tackle if Beatty isn't ready for the regular season. Beatty's back woes date back to the beginning of the offseason.

Sat Jul 28 201209:56William Beatty (back) fine for Giants camp
Giants LT William Beatty (eye, back) is fully participating in training camp.
"The best remedy was time," Beatty said of the offseason back injury he suffered while weightlifting. Barring a setback, Beatty will open the season as Eli Manning's blindside protector after starting 10 games in 2011.

Mon Jul 9 201213:42William Beatty says he'll be ready for camp
Giants LT William Beatty (back) says he'll be ready for the start of training camp.
Beatty's back woes slowed him throughout OTAs and minicamp, but he doesn't sound like a candidate to begin camp on the active/PUP list. That's not a guarantee his issues won't resurface, of course. Second-year pro James Brewer and journeyman vet Sean Locklear are behind Beatty on the depth chart.

Mon Jun 4 201215:54William Beatty missing action with bad back
Giants LT William Beatty has missed several consecutive OTA practices with a back problem.
"He has a bad back," coach Tom Coughlin said. "That has kind of slowed him down. He is improving every day. I don't know that he will make the minicamp (in June)." James Brewer is currently practicing as the Giants' starting left tackle. Beatty's injury should only be a concern if it costs him training camp time.
