Verner (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against Chicago.
Verner was limited in practice all week, but will suit up and attempt to help contain the Bears' passing attack. Standing at just 5-foot-10, Verner will be at a size disadvantage, regardless of whether he covers Alshon Jeffery (6-foot-3) or Brandon Marshall (6-foot-4).

Verner (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against Chicago.
Verner practiced in a limited capacity all week, but he did the same last week and still sat out Sunday. If he sits, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery might both feast. Of course, that could happen even if Verner plays.

Wed Nov 12 201421:27Verner (hamstring) limited in practice Wednesday
Verner (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Verner's absence over the weekend didn't exactly open the flood gates for Matt Ryan, who dinked and dunked his way to 219 yards passing and one touchdown on 31 attempts. It's encouraging to see Verner log some time in drills, but Friday's injury report should ultimately forecast his Week 11 availability.

Verner (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Verner's loss is a major hit to a Tampa Bay pass defense that is second-to-last in the league at 285.2 passing yards allowed per game, and his absence could result in big games for the Atlanta wideouts.
Fri Nov 7 201415:22Verner (hamstring) doubtful for Sunday's game against Atlanta

Verner (hamstring) will play sparingly in Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, the Tampa Bay Tribune's Roy Cummings reports.
Verner has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since before the team's first preseason game. With he and fellow corner Mike Jenkins missing both preseason contests, the Buccaneers are perilously thin in the secondary with only two weeks remaining until the regular season begins.

Verner (hamstring) has a chance to play in Saturday's next preseason game against the Bills, the Tampa Tribune reports.
Verner has missed both of the Buccaneers' preseason games to date due to a lingering hamstring issue, although he was able to return to practice to begin last week. With Tampa Bay monitoring Verner's health on a day-to-day basis, his availability for Saturday's next exhibition outing probably won't be known until closer to kick-off. Expected to serve as new coach Lovie Smith's No. 1 cornerback, Verner is playing it safe to ensure he's 100 percent healthy once he returns for good.

Coach Lovie Smith said Thursday that Verner (hamstring) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mon Aug 11 201414:33Verner (hamstring) hopes to see preseason action in coming weeks
Verner (hamstring), who participated in his first practice Sunday since the outset of training camp, hopes to see preseason action in the coming weeks, according to the Buccaneers' official site.
Verner missed the team's first preseason game Friday against the Jaguars and there still no definitive word from the Buccaneers regarding his possible availability for the rest of the Bucs' exhibition slate. "We're going to take it day by day, and every day they're going to re-evaluate me in the morning to see if I'm sore from the previous day," said Verner Sunday. "So tomorrow we'll look at what I did today and how I'm progressing and we're going to take it from there. There's no real time-table; we're always just gearing for that season opener but I'd definitely like to get back sooner." Verner was restricted to individual position drills Sunday, and at this stage seems unlikely to play in Tampa's next preseason outing, Saturday against the Dolphins.
Sun Aug 10 201416:11Verner (hamstring) returned to practice Sunday
Verner (hamstring) returned to practice Sunday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Verner had been sidelined since the second day of training camp with a hamstring injury, but was able to complete individual drill work Sunday. The Buccaneers' offseason addition will now gradually work his way into new coach Lovie Smith's "Tampa 2" coverage scheme. After tying for the NFL lead with 22 passes defended last year, Verner projects to be the Buccaneers' No. 1 cornerback once acclimated to his new surroundings.
Fri Aug 8 201412:35Verner has not practiced since second day of training camp
Verner, who is dealing with a sore hamstring, has not practiced since the second day of training camp, the Tampa Tribune reports.
A free-agent addition from Titans, Verner has been ruled out of the Bucs' preseason opener, but the reports notes that he is progressing steadily and plans on being back on the field soon.

Verner (hamstring) will not play in Friday's preseason opener against the Jaguars, Sports Talk Florida reports.
Verner re-aggravated a hamstring injury at the beginning of training camp and has since not been able to practice with his new team. Although the cornerback has started running a bit, Verner still has no timetable for his return. Expected to lock down the team's No. 1 cornerback position, Verner should aim to get practice reps in the near future to familiarize himself with the Buccaneers' defensive scheme before Week 1.
Tue Mar 11 201421:23Bucs land CB Verner with Revis on his way out
Buccaneers agreed to terms with CB Alterraun Verner on a four-year, $26.5 million contract with $14 million guaranteed.
It's a bargain price all things considered, and make the Packers' four-year, $39 million deal with Sam Shields look like a severe overpay. Still only 25, Verner was long underappreciated in Tennessee before his 2013 breakout season, shutting down right corner and intercepting five passes. He's considered a superior fit to Darrelle Revis in Lovie Smith and Leslie Frazier's preferred Cover 2. Verner also comes at well under half the price of Revis.

Mon Mar 10 201414:59Verner: Patriots 'definitely a possibility'
Free agent CB Alterraun Verner believes the Patriots are "definitely a possibility."
Verner says he's been being lobbied by Patriots FS Devin McCourty. That's all good and well, but we doubt McCourty carries anything resembling clout in the Patriots' personnel decisions. Shelling out a lucrative, long-term deal to the market's top corner wouldn't be Bill Belichick's style. Regardless of whether the Pats are interested, Verner is going to have a robust market.
