Butler signed a one-year deal with the Bucs on Tuesday, Yahoo! Sports' Rand Getlin reports.
He will be added to the active roster to provide depth in Tampa's secondary, but will likely be treated as an emergency option. In three seasons Butler has just seven total tackles, but has managed to force three fumbles, which may have been what caught coach Lovie Smith's eye.

The Bucs worked out free agent cornerbacks Crezdon Butler and DeMarcus Van Dyke on Tuesday.
Butler was waived by the Bills during final cuts and would be a depth signing behind rookie RCB Jonathan Banks and slot corner Leonard Johnson. The Bucs also visited with free agent safeties Tyrell Johnson and Tyler Sash.

Bills waived CB Crezdon Butler
Butler had been penciled in opposite Leodis McKelvin while Stephon Gilmore recovers from wrist surgery, but WGR 550 Buffalo reported Wednesday that his roster spot still wasn't sewn up. It now appears one of Justin Rogers and T.J. Heath will get the nod. A 2010 fifth-round pick of the Steelers, Butler has never made a start, and played just 19 snaps between the Bills and Redskins last season.

WGR 550 Buffalo believes CB Crezdon Butler is still competing for a roster spot.
Butler is currently expected to replace Stephon Gilmore (wrist surgery) at right cornerback for the first six weeks, but hasn't yet won the job. It would take a disastrous fourth preseason game for him to get released over T.J. Heath. UDFA Nickell Robey and Ron Brooks are battling for nickel duties.

Butler, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2010 who was signed off Arizona's practice squad last year. With Leodis McKelvin still rehabbing from surgery, the door is wide open for Butler to make a move up the depth chart.
