Wed Mar 11 201509:55Newhouse signed two-year
Newhouse signed a two-year, $3 million contract with the Giants on Tuesday, the New York Daily News reports.
Newhouse served primarily as a backup tackle with the Bengals last season, and is expected to assume a similar role with his new squad. However, if the Giants decide to move right tackle Justin Pugh to the inside, a starting job could open up for Newhouse.
Fri Mar 21 201415:39Bengals land Marshall Newhouse
Bengals signed OT Marshall Newhouse, formerly of the Packers.
Newhouse was highly ineffective as an early-career starter on Aaron Rodgers' blind side, but is worth a look for a Bengals team in need of a swing tackle to replace Anthony Collins. Still only 25 years old, Newhouse has 31 career starts, 34-inch arms, and plus athleticism. He's a worthwhile pickup.

Mon Mar 17 201417:16Marshall Newhouse to visit Bengals
Free agent OT Marshall Newhouse will visit the Bengals this week.
And when Marshall Newhouse makes the news, we've officially entered the "second wave" of free agency. Newhouse has a lot of starts on his resume, but was terribly ineffective in them. He would be a backup in Cincinnati.

Fri Jan 10 201412:20Packers expected to part with Newhouse
The Packers are not expected to re-sign free agent OT Marshall Newhouse.
Green Bay exhausted its patience on Newhouse, starting him at left tackle for two years in which he flopped miserably. He was also ineffective as a swing tackle this past season. Newhouse won't be a hot commodity in free agency.

Sun May 5 201312:55Marshall Newhouse to compete for RT job
Having lost his left tackle job to Bryan Bulaga, Marshall Newhouse will compete to start at right tackle in training camp.
The Packers moved Bulaga and Josh Sitton -- their two most accomplished linemen -- to the left side this offseason, and will trot out Evan Dietrich-Smith at center with T.J. Lang shifting to right guard. Right tackle is open to Newhouse, Don Barclay, and Derek Sherrod. We suspect Newhouse will end up as a swing lineman because he's versatile, but not a starting-caliber run or pass blocker.

Wed Apr 10 201321:03NFC scout: Newhouse not an ideal starting LT
One NFC scout told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that OT Marshall Newhouse is not an "ideal" starter.
"You have to do things in your protection scheme to give him help at times," the scout said. "You're not going to want to leave him alone every snap. ... He could be a swing guy." Beat writer Tyler Dunne thinks the Packers could move Bryan Bulaga to left tackle and start Don Barclay at right tackle. Barclay started four games last season. Dunne thinks it would be "smart to strike" on Alabama RT D.J. Fluker with the No. 26 pick in the draft if he were available.

Wed Jan 30 201303:07Packers LT Newhouse triggers escalator
Packers LT Marshall Newhouse's base salary will be up from $575,000 to $1.323 million in 2013 after he hit escalators in his rookie contract.
Newhouse started all 18 games at left tackle in 2012, including the playoffs. He's an above-average pass blocker, but struggles creating space in the run game. Newhouse will battle for the starting job this summer with former first-round pick Derek Sherrod, who is attempting to come back from a gruesome broken leg injury.

Tue Aug 14 201210:54Newhouse (conussion) back at Packers practice
Packers LT Marshall Newhouse (concussion) returned to practice on Monday.
Newhouse had been sidelined since the Packers' August 3 intrasquad scrimmage. It shouldn't be a concern going forward, but is something to file away for if/when Newhouse suffers another concussion. OT Derek Sherrod (broken leg) remains out indefinitely.

Thu Jul 5 201216:04McCarthy confident in Newhouse as starter
Coach Mike McCarthy suggested that Marshall Newhouse is entrenched as the starting left tackle entering training camp.
"Marshall is at that point in his career where the people in the building have a lot more confidence in him than maybe the people outside," said McCarthy, praising Newhouse's athletic ability. "I think Marshall is going to be a good player for us. He made a huge jump last year and he's made another jump so far this year." Last year's first-rounder, Derek Sherrod (broken leg), will likely start camp on the PUP list.

Sat Feb 11 201211:54Newhouse struggled in 2011
Packers OT Marshall Newhouse allowed a team-high 10.5 sacks and 41.5 pressures in 2011.
A fifth-round pick in 2010, Newhouse made 10 starts at left tackle and three at right tackle after not appearing in a game as a rookie. His struggles could complicate the Packers' thinking on LT Chad Clifton, who is currently set to count $5.7 million against the salary cap during his age-36 season in 2012. If Clifton is released and Green Bay isn't ready to turn to Newhouse, RT Bryan Bulaga would likely be shifted to the blindside.

Fri Oct 14 201109:32Rookie Newhouse expected to start at LT
Fifth-round rookie Marshall Newhouse allowed zero sacks and just one pressure after taking over at left tackle for Chad Clifton in the second quarter of Week 5.
At 6'4/319, Newhouse is built more like a guard than a blindside tackle. He has excellent feet, though, and has caught on quickly as one of the team's smartest linemen. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Bob McGinn told SI.com's Peter King this week that Newhouse may end up beating out first-rounder Derek Sherrod to be Clifton's long-term successor.

Fri Dec 31 201011:11Packers place OL Newhouse on I.R.
Packers placed G/T Marshall Newhouse (back) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The fifth-round rookie was transitioning from college tackle to pro guard this year. He'll fight for a roster spot in training camp next season.
Wed Jun 23 201016:45Packers sign Marshall Newhouse
Packers signed fifth-round OL Marshall Newhouse to a four-year contract.
An athletic left tackle at TCU, the undersized 6-foot-3, 317-pound Newhouse is making the transition inside to guard with Green Bay. Newhouse is not expected to push for a starting job during his rookie season.
