Jenkins finished 2014 with 80 tackles (64 solo) and three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).
Jenkins was a mid-tier free agency pickup for the Eagles prior to this season, and the hope was that his cornerback/safety hybrid skill set would lend itself to improved coverage for the Eagles. The Eagles didn't get their wish, allowing 30 passing touchdowns while intercepting just 12 passes, but that poor production is correctly attributed to Nate Allen and Bradley Fletcher than Jenkins. Along with Fletcher, Cary Williams is also often a liability at one of the starting corner spots. In other words, demotions might occur in the Philadelphia secondary this offseason, but it won't be Jenkins who gets one. With that said, he doesn't appear to have much IDP potential in coordinator Billy Davis' scheme. Jenkins' 80 tackles led Philadelphia defensive backs this year, while Allen led the defensive backs with just 82 in 2013. Unless Jenkins goes on an interception tear in 2015 or Davis significantly alters his secondary schemes, it's hard to see Jenkins approaching more than DB3 consideration in most IDP formats.

Sat Mar 8 201421:17Bills could have interest in Malcolm Jenkins
ESPN.com's Mike Rodak lists the Bills as a possible landing spot for free agent FS Malcolm Jenkins.
Coming off a down season, Jenkins could be a low-cost option to replace Jairus Byrd. He figures to command $4-5 million annually on a multi-year deal. The Bills have only 2013 fourth-rounder Duke Williams and Da'Norris Searcy as candidates to start opposite Aaron Williams.

Mon Feb 24 201409:24Malcolm Jenkins a target for the Eagles?
The Philadelphia Inquirer suggests free agent FS Malcolm Jenkins as a target for the Eagles.
Safety has been the biggest hole on the Eagles roster since Brian Dawkins left. They've missed in the draft (Nate Allen, Jaiquawn Jarrett) and missed in free agency (O.J. Atogwe, Pat Chung), leading to an annual leaky secondary. Jenkins, a converted corner, won't break the bank but would be an upgrade on the hideous four-headed monster of Allen, Chung, Kurt Coleman and Colt Anderson.

Fri Feb 14 201411:45Saints won't pay premium for S Jenkins
ESPN Saints blogger Mike Triplett doesn't expect the team to pay very much to retain free agent FS Malcolm Jenkins.
Triplett suggests anything above $3 million annually would price Jenkins out of the Saints' plans. The top safeties in the NFL are paid around $7-8 million per year. While Jenkins isn't in that tier, he should be able to get close to $4-5 million annually on a multi-year deal. Jenkins is our No. 7 free-agent safety.

Mon May 6 201310:16Jenkins fine with Kenny Vaccaro pick
FS Malcolm Jenkins insists he's fine with the Saints using their first-round pick on Texas S Kenny Vaccaro.
Jenkins has made it a point not to treat Vaccaro's arrival the way Reggie Bush did Mark Ingram's in 2011. Bush infamously tweeted "It's been fun New Orleans" after the Saints took Ingram with the No. 28 pick. "It makes it an awkward situation in the locker room," Jenkins said. Jenkins is coming off a horrific season, but his roster spot appears to be secure. GM Mickey Loomis has said Jenkins could see snaps in the slot as a way to get him on the field at the same time as Vaccaro and Roman Harper.

Wed Jan 30 201318:13Malcolm Jenkins triggers salary escalator
Saints FS Malcolm Jenkins triggered an escalator in his rookie deal, raising his 2013 salary from $2.264 million to $2.414 million.
Jenkins started 13 games in 2012 and racked up a career-high 94 tackles before landing on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. However, he and fellow safety, Roman Harper, graded out as Pro Football Focus' two worst safeties on the season as the New Orleans defense was historically awful. Jenkins enters the final year of his deal and will have to learn the 3-4 defense.

Saints placed FS Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring) on season-ending injured reserve.
Jenkins has started every game this season for New Orleans, but he was forced to leave last week's contest against the Giants with the injury. It's been a terrible year for Jenkins on the field. He's graded out as Pro Football Focus' second-worst safety out of a qualifying 86 players. Isa Abdul-Quddus will get the final three starts at free safety.

Mon Dec 26 201123:07Malcolm Jenkins leaves with stinger injury
Saints FS Malcolm Jenkins left Monday night's game with a third-quarter shoulder injury.
Jenkins held the arm as he made his way off the field and appears to be dealing with a stinger. Perhaps New Orleans' best all-around defensive back, Jenkins probably won't return and may not play again until the postseason.

Fri Feb 11 201110:51Jenkins recovering from dislocated kneecap
Saints FS Malcolm Jenkins' late-season knee injury turned out to be a dislocated kneecap.
The injury did not require surgery, and Jenkins still expects to be fully recovered by spring time. Twice the NFC Defensive Player of the Week in 2010, Jenkins has emerged as a key building block for Gregg Williams' defense.

Mon Jan 10 201113:38Malcolm Jenkins will rest injury
Saints FS Malcolm Jenkins will use rest rather than surgery to heal the knee injury that sidelined him in the playoffs.
It sounds like an MCL injury, a malady that often heals in a month or so without operation. Jenkins' absence was glaring in New Orleans' Wild Card loss to Seattle, as fill-in FS Darren Sharper has clearly lost several steps and SS Roman Harper never could cover. Jenkins finished his first season as a starter with two interceptions, a pick six, and 12 breakups.

Thu Jan 6 201121:06Jenkins, Graham 'long shots' for Saturday
The New Orleans Times-Picayune considers FS Malcolm Jenkins (knee) and TE Jimmy Graham (ankle) "long shots" for Saturday's game at Seattle.
Neither player practiced before the Saints left for Seattle Thursday night. Along with Chris Ivory, both players were injured in a costly Week 17 loss to the Bucs. Veteran playmaker Darren Sharper will pick up extra snaps as the starter at free safety. Jeremy Shockey and David Thomas will to the same at tight end.

Mon Jan 3 201109:16Jenkins set for MRI on knee
Saints FS Malcolm Jenkins is set for an MRI on his right knee Monday, a source tells Profootballtalk.com.
According to PFT, Jenkins thinks he'll be fine. The injury is believed to be related to his knee cap more than his ligaments. Jenkins' wrapped up his second season with 64 tackles, two interceptions, one sack and 12 pass breakups.

Sun Jan 2 201113:56Jenkins injured, out for rest of Week 17
Saints FS Malcolm Jenkins sustained a right knee injury tackling RB LeGarrette Blount in the first half of the Week 17 matchup against the Buccaneers, and has been ruled out for the rest of the game.
Jenkins was seated on the bench with his right shoe off halfway through the second quarter. He was initially pronounced doubtful to return, but the playoff-bound Saints are probably playing it safe with their starting free safety. We'll let you know Jenkins' condition when details become available.
Sun Sep 19 201009:00Malcolm Jenkins adjusting well to free safety
The Saints are pleased with FS Malcolm Jenkins' ability to adjust to his new position.
Said coach Sean Payton on the former cornerback, "He's made a ton of progress in the reps that's he's gotten. He has a real good football IQ. He has real good range on the back end, and he's a physical player. He's doing extremely well.'' It remains to be seen how the team will utilize Darren Sharper when he returns from the PUP list, though depth is never a bad problem to have.

Sun Sep 5 201022:44Malcolm Jenkins to be used in center field
The Saints will use FS Malcolm Jenkins as a deep, true center-field safety, lining up several yards downfield.
The idea is to have Jenkins in a "bend but don't break" position, where he can "scan the field and watch plays develop." It will allow Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer to play tighter press coverage, but won't lend for much IDP value.

Fri Jul 30 201016:06Malcolm Jenkins opens camp as starter
Malcolm Jenkins opened training camp as the Saints' first-team free safety.
The Saints say they expect Darren Sharper (microfracture surgery) to begin practicing soon, but it will be interesting to see if Jenkins can lock down the job. He's obviously healthier, and the Saints' future at the position.
