Joseph (calf) is expected to return by the start of the regular season, NFL.com reports.
Joseph was shot in the leg by a stray bullet fired in a Minneapolis night club early Saturday morning. An innocent bystander, Joseph's injury was thankfully only a minor one and he was released from the hospital later on Saturday. Nonetheless, Joseph is expected to miss up to two weeks, but should be fine for Week 1. The first-year Viking's 59 tackles ranked fourth among all interior defensive linemen last season, while the same amount of stops saw Joseph lead his position in tackles during the 2012 campaign.

Tue Jun 17 201417:03Linval Joseph had right-shoulder surgery
Vikings DT Linval Joseph is sitting out mandatory minicamp as he recovers from right-shoulder surgery.
Joseph underwent the operation prior to signing a five-year, $31.5 million deal in March. The team had previously said he was sitting out after undergoing a "procedure." The fact that the Vikes were willing to make such a large financial commitment to Joseph is an obvious sign they aren't concerned. Joseph should be ready for the beginning of camp.

Vikings agreed to terms with DT Linval Joseph, formerly of the Giants.

Tue Mar 4 201420:48Giants may be priced out of Joseph's market
The Giants are likely to be priced out of free agent Linval Joseph's market if he is allowed to reach free agency.

Joseph is one of the top defensive tackles available and would likely need to accept a team-friendly deal to return. The Newark Star-Ledger thinks impending free agent DT Linval Joseph may have to take a team-friendly deal to return to the Giants.
Joseph made it clear he wants to re-sign with the Giants, but at 25 years old and coming off three solid seasons he's likely going to go to the highest bidder. The Giants have never really paid defensive tackles much coin in the past, and the Star-Ledger puts Joseph's chances of returning at 40 percent. Joseph will likely be seeking somewhere near $6 million annually on his next deal.

Sun Jan 12 201411:06Giants free agent DT Joseph to be priority
The Newark Star-Ledger believes Giants impending free agent DT Linval Joseph could command $35-40 million on a new contract.
Joseph is just 25 years old and is coming off a third consecutive strong season. He's started 46 of the Giants' past 48 games and has nine sacks over that span. Joseph is also a quality run-stuffing defensive tackle at 6-foot-4, 323. He's our No. 2 free-agent defensive tackle, behind Chicago's Henry Melton and ahead of Green Bay's B.J. Raji. The Giants will likely prioritize Joseph.

Sat Sep 28 201311:49Giants to prioritize re-signing DT Joseph?
ESPN New York expects the Giants to prioritize re-signing DT Linval Joseph.
It's a bad sign when you're already discussing next year's free agency plans three weeks into the season. The Giants have a few big-name players operating on expiring contracts. Hakeem Nicks and Justin Tuck are the main two. However, Nicks and Tuck haven't played well during the Giants' 0-3 start. Joseph is only 24 years old. He's above average against the run and as a pass rusher.

Sat Jul 30 201123:58Linval Joseph working as Giants' nose tackle
Linval Joseph is working as the new starting nose tackle at Giants training camp.
He'll open the season there. The 46th pick in last year's draft, Joseph is Barry Cofield's replacement at nose tackle. Joseph only played 60 snaps in his rookie season, so he's going from non-factor to starter without being eased in. Still, Joseph has loads of talent and was a star in 2010 training camp. The Giants' run defense projects as an easy top-ten unit in 2011.
