Okung (toe) practiced for the first time Monday since having offseason toe surgery, ESPN reports.
Okung was sidelined for eight games last season due to a torn ligament in his toe, but was ultimately able to return in time for Seattle's title run. Offseason surgery prevented the left tackle from participating in any team activities over the summer, making Monday's light drill work Okung's first time hitting the field since February. An established top-tier blindside protector, it wouldn't be surprising for Okung to sit out the majority of the Seahawks' preseason games to ensure he's healthy for the team's regular season opener Sept. 4 versus the Packers.
Thu Jul 3 201420:58Russell Okung needs to stay healthy
ESPN Seahawks reporter Terry Blount said LT Russell Okung could be entering his final year in Seattle unless he shows he can stay healthy.
Set to count $7.28 million against the 2015 cap, Okung is one of many tough, salary-cap decisions the Seahwaks have on the horizon. He has missed 19 games due to injury in his four-year career, and was sidelined during spring practices recovering from foot surgery. Okung has been solid when healthy, but he needs to stay on the field to justify his cap number.

Seahawks LT Russell Okung (foot surgery) isn't participating in OTAs.

Fri May 9 201423:57Russell Okung undergoes foot surgery
Seahawks LT Russell Okung recently underwent foot surgery.
It might be related to the toe issue that sidelined Okung for the first eight games of last season. Russell Wilson's blind-side protector is expected back for training camp, but durability continues to be an issue here. Okung has missed 16 games through four NFL seasons.

Wed Feb 5 201419:03Seahawks LT Okung may need surgery
Coach Pete Carroll said LT Russell Okung may need offseason surgery.
We assume Carroll is referring to the toe injury that sidelined Okung for eight weeks at the beginning of the season. He was dealing with a torn plantar plate, similar to what Pierre Garcon was hampered by in 2012. Okung returned and manned Russell Wilson's blind side from Week 11 on through the Super Bowl.

Tue Dec 24 201316:59Russell Okung (toe) practices on Tuesday
Seahawks LT Russell Okung (toe) "made it through" Tuesday's walk-through, and remains on track to start Sunday's game against the Rams.
Speaking Tuesday, coach Pete Carroll reiterated what he said on Monday, telling reporters Okung "should be ready to go." It's a major bullet dodged for a team that will be tasked with slowing DPOY candidate Robert Quinn as it looks to lock down the NFC's No. 1 seed.

Mon Dec 23 201320:31Seahawks LT Okung expected to play Sunday
Coach Pete Carroll said he expects LT Russell Okung (toe) to play in the Week 17 finale against the Rams.
It's good news after Okung was forced to leave Sunday's loss to the Cardinals with soreness in his big toe. Okung missed eight games with a big toe issue earlier this season. Okung will see Rams stud RE Robert Quinn next Sunday.

Mon Dec 23 201310:30Russell Okung leaves with toe aggravation
Seahawks LT Russell Okung left Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Cardinals with soreness in his big toe.
It's a major concern because it's the same injury that caused Okung to miss eight games earlier this season. After the Pro Bowler left, undrafted rookie Alvin Bailey manned Russell Wilson's blind side. Wilson ended up getting sacked four times.

Tue Oct 29 201310:51Russell Okung on track tor return Week 11
Seahawks LT Russell Okung (foot) is confident he'll be back Week 11.

Fri Sep 20 201317:33Seahawks place Okung on short-term IR
Seahawks placed LT Russell Okung on injured reserve/designated for return with a torn plantar plate in his foot.
"Short-term" I.R. isn't really short term, per se, because it costs players eight weeks. That's half the season. Okung will be eligible to return in Week 11. Our assumption is Paul McQuistan will replace him at left tackle, although that's only because McQuistan did so in last week's win over the 49ers.

Fri Sep 20 201315:06Russell Okung likely headed to short-term IR
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Seahawks LT Russell Okung has received positive news on his partially torn plantar plate, and is expected to be placed on injured reserve/designated for return.
The Seahawks will fill in with usual guard Paul McQuistan, which is a concern for their already limited passing game. Russell Wilson ranks just 30th in the NFL in pass attempts through two weeks. Seattle will continue to be a run-heavy team, featuring Marshawn Lynch with very little fantasy value for the wideouts.

Thu Sep 19 201314:45Russell Okung visiting Dr. James Andrew
Seahawks LT Russell Okung (toe) is visiting Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.
Okung has already been ruled out for Week 3. Visits to Dr. Andrews often end with a "done for the season" declaration, but things aren't as cut and dry with toe issues. For now, the Seahawks are going with Paul McQuistan on the blindside. He's a massive downgrade.

Thu Apr 11 201317:32Okung working on quickness with MMA training
Seahawks LT Russell Okung is working on his quickness, agility, and flexibility with MMA training this offseason.
"It really involves a lot of quick bursts," said Okung. "It's the best way to try and kind of simulate line play, so I like it." Okung is one of the premier left tackles in the league, but he struggles a bit with speed rushers off the edge. He was whistled for 13 penalties in 2012, second-most among offensive tackles.
