Meachem finished the year with seven receptions for 114 yards in 11 games.
Although the Saints adore Meachem's skills as a blocker, he was a non-factor in the passing game, losing playing time to the Saints' young receiving corps. As an unrestricted free agent, 2014 was likely his last season in New Orleans.

Meachem may be active Monday night against the Bears for the first time since Oct. 30, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Meachem missed three games with a balky ankle, then sat out the last two weeks as a gameday inactive. However, following Joe Morgan's release on Tuesday, there is likely a spot open for another receiver to be active. Meachem has had periods of fantasy usefulness in the past, but he has a long way to go before reaching relevance again.
Sun Nov 30 201411:47Meachem (ankle) inactive for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh
Meachem (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.
Meachem has been dealing with an ankle injury recently, but he was listed as probable for Sunday's game, making it appears that he's simply a healthy scratch. Nick Toon could see a few extra snaps.
Fri Nov 28 201416:21Meachem (ankle) probable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh
Meachem (ankle) is probable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.
Meachem's ankle injury appears to be in the rearview mirror by now, but it's still difficult to see him earning a reliable target count in any given week.
Mon Nov 24 201419:25Meachem (ankle) inactive for Monday's game against Ravens
Meachem (ankle) is inactive for Monday's game against the Ravens, the Saints' official site reports.
With five catches for 85 yards in eight games to date, Meachem has yet to make a fantasy splash, though it's possible he could see some added looks once he's healthy, with Brandin Cooks out for the season.
Sat Nov 22 201414:50Meachem (ankle) questionable for Monday's game
Meachem (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game.
He was limited in practice all week, and may be close to a game-time decision. With Brandin Cooks out for the season, Meachem could figure into the Saints' passing attack if he is able to take the field against the Ravens.
Thu Nov 20 201418:49Meachem (ankle) practiced on limited basis Thursday
Meachem (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, the Saints' official site reports.
Sidelined the last two games due to an ankle injury, Meachem is trending in the right direction for active status Monday versus the Ravens. While he's rarely factored into the passing attack this season -- five catches (on 17 targets) for 85 yards across eight games -- he could receive more looks following Brandin Cooks' broken thumb, which resulted in his placement on IR.
Sun Nov 16 201411:47Meachem (ankle) listed as inactive Sunday versus Bengals
Meachem (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Bengals, the Saints' official site reports.
Meachem's absence should push additional snaps in the direction of Kenny Stills, who is far more likely to take advantage of the increased usage.

Meachem (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against Cincinnati.
Meachem didn't practice all week, making it seem as if he's on the pessimistic side of questionable. He has played on just under 30 percent of New Orleans' snaps this year, so if he's absent it could result in a noticeable boost in Kenny Stills' play count.
Wed Nov 12 201419:02Meachem (ankle) didn't take part in practice Wednesday
Meachem (ankle) didn't take part in practice Wednesday.
Since Meachem landed on the injury report last Thursday, he's failed to practice, resulting in his first DNP of the season this past Sunday. No matter, Drew Brees' spread-the-wealth philosophy has resulted in Meachem's barren line, which includes five receptions (on 17 targets) for 85 yards through eight games.
Sun Nov 9 201411:49Meachem (ankle) inactive for Sunday's game versus 49ers
Meachem (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the 49ers, the Saints' official site reports.
Meachem only entered the Saints' injury report Thursday, but back-to-back DNPs to end the week forecast his first absence of the season. With merely five catches (on 17 targets) for 85 yards through eight contests, though, he really isn't a consideration in the vast majority of formats.

Meachem (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against San Francisco.
Meachem didn't practice Friday, so it seems like he's not a great bet to suit up. He's far into the periphery of the New Orleans offense these days, however, so any absence wouldn't impact much.

Meachem caught three passes on five targets for 37 yards in Sunday's loss in Cleveland.
A week after failing to make a catch in the season opener, Meachem actually had the second-most receiving yards for the Saints against the Browns, as Drew Brees connected with eight different receivers on the day. Still, Meachem, who was cut this offseason before being re-signed before the opener, is used primarily as a blocker and is unlikely to make any fantasy impact on a crowded receiver depth chart in New Orleans.
Wed Sep 3 201415:29The Saints have re-signed Meachem
The Saints have re-signed Meachem, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Meachem, who was let go four days ago when the Saints trimmed their roster to 53 players, returns to add experience and depth to the team's wideout mix, but he's a break or two away from fantasy relevance at this stage.
Sat Aug 30 201416:26Robert Meachem: Released By Saints
Meachem has been released by the Saints, WDSU.com reports.
Meachem was largely valued by the Saints for his blocking ability, but that wasn't enough to keep him ahead of Nick Toon and Joseph Morgan on the depth chart. With Charles Hawkins also getting the axe, New Orleans will presumably open the season with five wide receivers. If Meachem catches on elsewhere, it will likely just be as a fourth or fifth receiver.

Meachem's roster spot may be in jeopardy, though Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune slotted Meachem into his 53-man roster projection with the news that Kenny Stills aggravated his quadriceps injury in the team's third preseason game against the Colts.
Joe Morgan and Nick Toon saw several more reps with the first-team offense than Meachem, who failed to catch a pass in Saturday's exhibition. Plus, Marques Colston lined up as a single receiver in a designed run play Saturday, which was a role that had been strictly designated for Meachem. If he's seeing fewer reps and not participating on run plays, Meachem's time with New Orleans could be up, though even if he makes the Saints' 53-man roster, he likely holds little, if any, fantasy value.
Thu Jul 31 201417:45Robert Meachem: (Back) Returns to Practice.
Meachem (back), who missed two days of practice with a minor back injury, returned to Saints practice on Tuesday, reports the Shreveport Times.
With Nick Toon drawing rave reviews through the early portion of camp, Meachem may be facing an uphill battle to even secure a roster spot with the Saints. Even if he returns to the team, his days of fantasy relevance seem long behind him.
Wed May 14 201409:20Robert Meachem only has 50-50 shot at roster?
ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett gives Robert Meachem a 50-50 chance at making the final roster.
Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks and Kenny Stills are locked in as the top-three wideouts. After that, there will be heated competition between Meachem, Nick Toon, Joe Morgan and UDFA Brandon Coleman. Meachem's blocking ability and experience in the scheme are pluses, but his age (30) will be an issue. The Saints typically only dress four wideouts on Sundays.

Fri Apr 18 201412:22Saints re-up Robert Meachem on 1-year deal
Saints re-signed WR Robert Meachem to a one-year contract.
After one miserable season in San Diego, Meachem returned to New Orleans in 2013 to catch 16 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns as a situational deep threat. Entering his age-30 season, Meachem will try and fill that role again in 2014 but should face competition from Joe Morgan and a rookie.

Thu Mar 6 201408:43Meachem, Saints have had 'initial' talks
The Saints and free agent Robert Meachem have had "some initial talks" about a new contract.
There's no sense of urgency here, even with Meachem set to hit the open market next week. He'll turn 30 in September, is coming off a 16-324-2 season and flopped horrifically when he signed with the Chargers in 2012. If the Saints do end up losing Meachem, they can easily plug restricted free agent Joe Morgan into his role.
