Skrine recovered a fumble and recorded eight tackles Monday against the Colts.
Skrine was on the field frequently, as the Colts primarily used three-receiver sets. He showed his versatility as he rotated between the slot and outside, as Derrelle Revis spent most of his time on TY Hilton. With the front-seven applying constant pressure to Andrew Luck, the entire Jets' secondary wasn't forced to cover receivers for long periods of time.

Buster Skrine recorded one tackle Sunday against the Browns.
Skrine wasn't needed much early in the game, but once Antonio Cromartie went down with a knee injury, he was used for heavy snaps the rest of the game. With Cromartie expected to miss some time, Skrine will be counted on to take over cornerback duties on the opposite side of the field from Derrelle Revis.

Skrine recorded two tackles Saturday against the Giants.
Skrine will be a regular on the field when the Jets put three cornerbacks on the field. His IDP value could take a big jump if Antonio Cromartie or Derrelle Revis miss time this season.
Tue Mar 10 201517:00Skrine signed four-year
Skrine signed a four-year, $25 million deal with the Jets on Tuesday, Newsday's Bob Glauber reports.
Skrine was part of a top-ten pass defense in Cleveland last season, beating out first-round pick Justin Gilbert for the starting cornerback job in camp and hanging on to it all season long. He finished the year with 67 combined tackles and a career-high four interceptions. At just 25 years old, Skrine should have plenty of productive years ahead of him in the league.

Skrine, who recorded five solo tackles in Sunday's loss to Baltimore, finished the season with 67 tackles (55 solo) and four interceptions.
Skrine was expected to be challenged for a starting job in camp by first-rounder Justin Gilbert, but he was able to hold off the rookie and keep his gig opposite Joe Haden. He's set to become a free agent in the offseason, and it's currently unclear whether the Browns will make him an offer, or let him walk in favor of their younger defensive backs.

Skrine had another big game in Thursday's victory over the Bengals, recording two interceptions and three tackles (two solo).
Skrine didn't see much A.J. Green on Thursday, a responsibility that was left primarily to Pro-Bowler Joe Haden, but made opposing quarterback Andy Dalton pay whenever he looked his way. Ten weeks into the season, Skrine seems to have clearly established himself as the Browns' No. 2 cover corner.

Skrine logged a season-high nine tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's victory over the Buccaneers.
Skrine had to hold off first-round draft pick Justin Gilbert to keep his starting spot this season, and has seen a consistently higher snap count than the rookie over the first nine weeks of the season. The 25-year-old cornerback has now recorded 39 tackles, seven passes defensed and two interceptions on year.

Skrine is listed as the Browns' starting cornerback opposite Joe Haden on the team's first depth chart of the season, Cleveland.com reports.
Skrine underwent thumb surgery just two weeks ago, but has already been cleared to play in Sunday's season opener against the Steelers. While rookie first-rounder Justin Gilbert saw plenty of first-team action in Skrine's absence, the veteran is still preferred to start at this early stage in the season. Following 65 combined tackles and an interception in 2013, Skrine brings valuable regular season experience into Week 1's divisional clash in Pittsburgh.
Sun Aug 31 201418:43Skrine (thumb) will play in Sunday's opener against Steelers
Skrine (thumb) will play in Sunday's opener against the Steelers, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
The cornerback has been dealing with a thumb injury and underwent surgery in mid-August. He made a quick recovery and returned to practice last week. With Joe Haden and Justin Gilbert likely slotted in as Cleveland's top two corners, Skrine will see action as the third cornerback.
Mon Aug 25 201414:26Skrine (thumb) should be able to practice this weekend
Skrine (thumb) should be able to practice this weekend, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Skrine underwent thumb surgery just last Monday, but coach Mike Pettine already thinks the cornerback will be able to return to practice this weekend. With Skrine out recently, rookie Justin Gilbert has moved into Cleveland's starting position opposite Joe Haden (foot). Additionally, with Haden slated to miss Thursday's preseason finale, Gilbert will get added work as a first-teamer before the regular season. As a result, Skrine will probably begin the season as the Browns' No. 3 cornerback, assuming he's able to be cleared to play ahead of Week 1.

Skrine underwent thumb surgery Monday and is considered week-to-week moving forward, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Skrine's absence figures to result in rookie Justin Gilbert claiming the Browns' starting cornerback position opposite Joe Haden to begin this season. Although coach Mike Pettine said he expects Skrine to be ready for Week 1, that may be an optimistic outlook and the time off probably will prevent Skrine from being considered to start once he eventually returns.

Skrine (thumb) will find out Saturday whether or not he'll need surgery, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Skrine, who is in position to compete with rookie Justin Gilbert for a starting cornerback spot opposite Joe Haden, injured his thumb during practice this week. While the Browns say they expect him to be ready for Week 1, it's difficult to imagine that being the case should he require surgery.

Skrine holds the job over No. 8 overall pick Justin Gilbert for now, but expect this battle to heat up even more as the preseason wears along.
Wed May 14 201408:07Buster Skrine will focus on slot duties
Buster Skrine will focus exclusively on slot corner duties this season.
Justin Gilbert was drafted eight overall to plug the revolving door opposite Joe Haden. It puts the 5'9/185 Skrine back in a more natural inside role. He was among the worst every-down corners in the league last year, getting exposed as a weekly matchup to attack by savvy fantasy players.

Tue Jul 30 201309:26Buster Skrine getting the work opposite Haden
Buster Skrine has "held down" the starting corner job opposite Joe Haden so far.
Skrine is leading a three-way battle that also includes Chris Owens and Leon McFadden. He's playing outside in base formations and moving into the slot for nickel sets. But according to ESPN Cleveland, Owens is the one standing out. Both of these corners will be on the field plenty this season. McFadden has "a long way to go."

Thu Jun 6 201310:05Buster Skrine getting first-team reps
ESPN Cleveland believes Buster Skrine will "at worst" be the Browns' nickel corner.
Skrine is splitting first-team outside corner reps with Chris Owens at OTAs. Eventually, third-round rookie Leon McFadden will get in the mix. This spot opposite Joe Haden is a major hole for an otherwise sound Browns' defense. Skrine graded out negatively over 745 snaps last year.

Thu May 16 201318:42Buster Skrine getting some looks at safety
Browns DC Ray Horton says CB Buster Skrine has been getting some looks at safety.
"[Skrine] is one of those hybrid players that is playing corner, nickel, penny, safety," Horton said. "He's a dynamic player that can play more than one position. If you can do that in the Cleveland Browns defense it opens up a versatile attack." The Browns have a gaping hole at free safety, and they're trying anyone and everyone at the position to find the best fit.
