Steelers placed LB Chris Carter (abdominal) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Carter is James Harrison's backup. He started the first three games of the year, recording six tackles and no sacks during those contests. Since then, the 2011 fifth-round pick has been a special teamer. The Steelers promoted LB Marshall McFadden from the practice squad to fill Carter's roster spot.
