The Chiefs plan to bring Thomas in for a workout, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
As the Chiefs look for running back help after losing Jamaal Charles to a knee injury, the team is also taking a look at Ben Tate. The Chiefs' current in-house options to fill in for Charles are Charcandrick West, Knile Davis and perhaps even DeAnthony Thomas, but if Thomas looks good in his workout, he could be a nice addition to the Kansas City backfield.

Though previous reports suggested that Thomas was in line to sign with Houston, such a deal is evidently not in the cards at this time, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.
We'll have to see if the two sides are able to come to terms down the road, but as ESPN's Tania Ganguli notes, the Texans intend to sign or even trade for help at running back following Arian Foster's injury.
Wed Aug 5 201512:26The Texans plan to sign Thomas
The Texans plan to sign Thomas, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Per the report, Thomas had a successful tryout with the team on Wednesday, and he'll give the Texans added depth and experience at running back in the wake of the significant groin injury recently suffered by starter Arian Foster. The 30-year-old Thomas is coming off a season in which he recorded 45 carries for 222 yards and two TDs, to go along with 45 catches for 378 yards and a TD in 11 games for the Saints. Although we wouldn't expect Thomas to immediately ascend to the top of the Texans' running back depth chart, based on his track record as a pass-catching option out of the backfield, he has a chance to carve out PPR utility in 2015, at a minimum. Prior to adding Thomas, Alfred Blue slotted in as the team's top healthy option at running back, with Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and rookie Kenny Hilliard also on hand.
Tue Aug 4 201520:23Thomas will work out for Texans on Wednesday
Thomas will work out for the Texans on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Texans' backfield is rife with injuries from top to bottom, but none is more pertinent to reality and fantasy than Arian Foster's injured groin. While the organization is bracing for the worst, which would likely result in short-term injured reserve for Foster, Pierre Thomas will be afforded a workout to learn if he's right for the system. If he eventually lands a contract, Thomas would join a competition for RB touches with the likes of Alfred Blue (leg) and, to a lesser extent, Chris Polk (hamstring).
Wed Mar 4 201517:00The Saints have released Thomas
The Saints have released Thomas, NFL.com reports.
With Thomas cut loose thanks to the team's salary cap situation and Mark Ingram on track to hit free agency, the Saints figure to have a new-look backfield in 2015. The 30-year-old Thomas was limited to 11 games (and 45 carries for 222 yards and two TDs) last year, but when healthy, he remains an asset as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. After recording 77 catches for New Orleans in 2013, Thomas caught 45 passes for 378 yards and a TD this past season.

Thomas finished the season with 22 yards on 45 carries and 378 yards on 45 receptions - with three total touchdowns - in 11 games.
A year removed from catching a career-high 77 passes, it was a frustrating year for Thomas, as he battled various injuries throughout. Due $2.15 million in salary and bonuses in 2015, Thomas is a candidate for release given the Saints' tight salary cap situation, but with Mark Ingram an unrestricted free agent and Travaris Cadet underwhelming in a pass-catching role, it's likely Thomas will return next season. While the eight-year veteran's upside is likely limited, he could easily return to being an asset in PPR leagues, if he remains healthy in New Orleans.

Thomas (ribs) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
With Thomas out for Week 17, it should equal a particularly big workload for Mark Ingram. Travaris Cadet and Khiry Robinson could see a few more snaps than usual.

Thomas (ribs) didn't take part in Wednesday's practice, the Saints' official site reports.
During Sunday's loss to the Falcons, Thomas left the game for good due to a foot injury, but his current absence was the result of a rib issue. Since the rest of the Saints' backfield is healthy, including their workhorse (Mark Ingram), Thomas' health may not be risked in the season finale. As a result, keep an eye on Thomas' status as the week unfolds.

Thomas (foot) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Falcons, ESPN's Mike Triplett reports.
With Thomas on the shelf, look for the Saints to lean heavily on Mark Ingram in the rushing attacking, with Khiry Robinson set to see work in a complementary role. Not much is known regarding the exact nature of Thomas's injury at the moment, but we'll be sure to monitor his practice status in advance of Week 17.

Thomas is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Falcons due to a foot injury, Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Thomas left the game in the second quarter, and will likely be relieved on third downs by Khiry Robinson until he is able to return. Mark Ingram should continue to serve as the lead back for the Saints.

Thomas caught 5-of-5 targets for 83 yards, adding 11 yards on two carries, in Monday's 31-15 win over the Bears.
Thomas recorded each of his five receptions before halftime, highlighted by gains of 39 and 31 yards in the first quarter, with the 39-yarder featuring a slew of broken tackles. Meanwhile, Mark Ingram unsurprisingly dominated the carries, picking up 59 yards and a touchdown on 17 totes. Khiry Robinson contributed 20 total yards on five touches (two receptions), while Travaris Cadet did not record a carry or target. The New Orleans offense gets another friendly matchup in Week 16 against the Falcons, though that may be better news for Ingram than for Thomas.

Thomas gained 38 yards on five carries and added another 14 yards on four receptions on six targets in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.
Thomas found some success on the ground but the Saints quickly abandoned the run after falling behind by four touchdowns just minutes into the second half. Now healthy, Thomas should continue to have some value in PPR leagues, but he's more of a drain on Mark Ingram's value than a standalone fantasy option in standard scoring leagues, as he's simply not seeing a large enough workload to offer reliable value. If you're a fantasy owner in a really deep league, or simply desperate, Thomas does have a favorable matchup against a shaky Bears' defense in Week 15.

Thomas (shoulder) had three carries for 21 rushing yards and two catches on four targets for 16 receiving yards Sunday against the Steelers.
Mark Ingram dominated the touches out of the backfield (23 carries for 122 yards), and while Thomas was able to play a small part in the passing game, he was unable to catch one of Drew Brees' five touchdown passes. Thomas doesn't have a ton of upside in non-PPR leagues, as Ingram is clearly the workhorse back, and with his receptions so inconsistent, he makes for a fairly unreliable fantasy option.
Sun Nov 30 201411:45Thomas (shoulder) active for Sunday's game against Steelers
Thomas (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Mark Ingram still figures to get a majority of the carries out of the backfield, but Thomas is the top option on passing downs, giving him much more value in PPR formats than standard ones.
Fri Nov 28 201416:18Thomas (shoulder) probable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh
Thomas (shoulder) is probable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.
Thomas made his return from his shoulder injury against Baltimore last week, and if that game is any indication, he should hold close to a monopoly on the New Orleans passing down work at running back. Although he ran just five times for 19 yards, he caught six passes for 37 yards.
Wed Nov 26 201419:31Pierre Thomas: (Rib/Shoulder) Practices In Full Wednesday
Thomas (rib/shoulder) practiced in full Wednesday, the Saints' official site reports.
After a four-game absence due to rib and shoulder ailments, Thomas returned to action this past Monday and promptly split the RB workload with Mark Ingram (shoulder). Thomas posted the most productive outing of the duo, turning five carries into 19 yards and six receptions into 37 yards. Meanwhile, Ingram didn't approach his 26 carries per contest from Thomas' absence, totaling 27 yards on 11 rushes and 15 yards on two catches. Week 13 presents a similar matchup against a Steelers defense that's middle of the road versus the pass and Top 10 against the run. Consequently, Thomas could again be the more relevant of the two running backs.

Making his first appearance since Week 7, Thomas (shoulder) had five carries for 10 yards and six receptions for 37 yards in Monday's 34-27 loss to the Ravens.
Thomas' eight targets were good for third on the team, but neither he nor Mark Ingram had much luck against Baltimore's stout front seven. Ingram finished with 27 yards on 11 carries and 15 yards on two receptions, while Travaris Cadet caught just 2-of-2 targets for 11 yards. As expected, it was Jimmy Graham and the New Orleans wideouts doing most of the damage, against a Ravens defense that's easily weakest in the secondary. Thomas still turned in a decent PPR showing, which is pretty standard when the Saints have to throw a lot of passes. He didn't appear to be affected by the shoulder, and should remain a key part of the offense in a Week 13 road game against the Steelers.

Thomas (shoulder) is listed as active for Monday's game against the Ravens, the Saints' official site reports.
Thomas is back in the Saints' lineup for the first time since Week 7, but we'd like to see him get a full and productive game in working behind Mark Ingram before recommending him as an option in PPR formats.
Sat Nov 22 201414:48Pierre Thomas: (Shoulder) Probable
Thomas (shoulder) is probable for Monday's game.
He was a limited participant in Saturday's practice, but he should be able to take the field Monday against the Ravens. The Saints will likely feature him in the passing game, making him a viable option in deep PPR leagues.
Thu Nov 20 201418:28Pierre Thomas: (Shoulder) Limited Thursday
Thomas (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, the Saints' official site reports.
Thomas has been sidelined four consecutive games due to a rib and shoulder injury, but his return to drills points to his first game action since Week 7. When asked Thursday if he'll suit up Monday against the Ravens, he smiled and told the New Orleans Times-Picayune, "Who knows?" While his wry attitude can't be relied upon, the next two days of practice should give a good indication whether he'll make his presence felt in Week 12. However, Mark Ingram has assumed to top RB gig during Thomas' absence, which leaves the latter's potential somewhat untenable right off the bat.
