Tue Mar 10 201511:02James Carpenter: To Sign With Jets
Carpenter will sign with the Jets, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports.
A 2011 first-round selection, Carpenter never quite lived up to his draft status in Seattle, but he did start 39 games in four years. While not a true difference-maker, he should help the Jets' offensive line.

Carpenter will sign a contract with the Jets on Tuesday, John Middlekauff of 95.7 The Game Bay Area reports.

Tue May 27 201417:34Seattle LG James Carpenter sheds 10-15 pounds
Speaking Tuesday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said LG James Carpenter "looks great," and has lost 10-15 pounds.
It's notable for a player who has struggled to stay in shape. Perhaps the Seahawks declining his fifth-year team option for 2015 got a message across. Carpenter is the favorite to start at left guard, but will have to hold off G/T Alvin Bailey in camp.

Mon May 26 201422:37Carpenter heavy favorite for Seahawks LG job
The Seattle Times believes the Seahawks' left guard job is James Carpenter's "to take control of for good."
Carpenter and Paul McQuistan shared the position last season, but McQuistan departed via free agency. We'd expect second-year G/T Alvin Bailey to give Carpenter a run for his money in camp. Carpenter has been unable to stay healthy or in shape throughout his career. Bailey is a powerful drive blocker. The Seahawks play the best players. Carpenter's first-round draft status won't matter.

Wed Apr 23 201417:07Seahawks likely to decline Carpenter's option
The Seahawks are leaning toward declining LG James Carpenter's club option for 2015.
Carpenter was the 25th pick in the 2011 draft and has missed 16 career games due to injuries. He did start the NFC Championship game and Super Bowl at left guard last season and appeared in all 19 games but was a liability both as a run blocker and pass protector. Carpenter's roster spot could even be in jeopardy.

Mon Feb 17 201411:38Seahawks LG Carpenter's spot in jeopardy
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer believes Seahawks LG James Carpenter's roster spot may be in jeopardy.
Carpenter, the 25th pick in the 2011 draft, started 12 games last season, including the playoffs. He was drafted to be a mauling run blocker but has struggled there and in pass protection when he's actually been on the field. Carpenter has one year left on his rookie deal at just over $1.4 million. The Post-Intelligencer thinks second-year UDFA Alvin Bailey may be the future at left guard.

Thu Oct 17 201323:04James Carpenter leaves game with foot issue
Seahawks LG James Carpenter was forced from Seattle's Week 7 game against the Cardinals with a right foot/ankle injury, and is questionable to return.
The injury-plagued lineman got rolled up, limped off the field and was carted to the locker room. Lemuel Jeanpierre is now in the game at left guard. It's highly doubtful Carpenter returns.

Sun Aug 11 201315:35James Carpenter to miss a 'couple weeks'
Seahawks LG James Carpenter will miss "a couple weeks" with a foot injury.
It's a tough blow for injury-plagued Carpenter, who to date has been one of GM John Schneider's few misses. The 25th overall pick in the 2011 draft, Carpenter now stands a good chance of losing his camp battle with Paul McQuistan.

Fri Aug 2 201313:50James Carpenter reported to camp in top shape
Seahawks LG James Carpenter showed up to training camp in the "absolute best shape" of his three-year career.
It's a good sign after missing all of spring workouts following cleanup surgery on his long-troublesome knee. Carpenter has light-footed mauler potential on the interior, and his return to full health would be a nice plus for Marshawn Lynch's fantasy outlook. Seattle quietly struggled mightily at guard last year.

Thu Jul 25 201315:38James Carpenter calls knee '100 percent'
Seahawks LG James Carpenter declared his surgically repaired knee "100 percent" for the start of training camp.
Carpenter's reps will be limited as he tries to bypass Paul McQuistan on the depth chart, and he acknowledges he's rusty. Still, the fact that Carpenter got cleared to open camp has to be a big positive for Seattle. He was the 25th selection in the 2011 draft and GM John Schneider's first ever draft pick.

Sun Jun 30 201313:44Seahawks to be 'careful' with LG Carpenter
Coach Pete Carroll says the Seahawks will be "careful" with LG James Carpenter (knee surgery).
"James has a tremendous upside for us and I'm anxious for you guys to see what he's capable of doing," Carroll said. "We expect that he'll make it back for camp so we'll see what happens. He can give us a special dimension if we can get him back. He should be healthy, and it's just a matter of us getting him in shape and we'll be very careful to make sure we don't rush him along." Carpenter has missed 16 games in two seasons with various injuries.

Coach Pete Carroll said the Seahawks expect LG James Carpenter (knee surgery) to be ready for the start of training camp.

Tue Jun 4 201308:28James Carpenter had a scope on his knee
Seahawks LG James Carpenter underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in April.
Coach Pete Carroll referred to the procedure as a "minor, cleanup surgery" that was "extremely successful." We can safely assume it was related to the torn ACL the former first-round pick sustained in 2011. If healthy, Carpenter will start at left guard on the Seahawks' middling offensive line. He should be ready for training camp.

Seahawks LG James Carpenter (knee, head) is expected to be ready to go when the offseason program begins in March.

Tue Dec 4 201218:46Seahawks place LG Carpenter on NFI list
Seahawks placed LG James Carpenter on the reserve/non-football illness list.
It's an interesting designation in that Carpenter felt a sharp pain in his surgically-repaired knee after playing in last week's football game. John Moffitt will take Carpenter's place in the starting lineup with J.R. Sweezy moving into the backup role. OG Rishaw Johnson was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Mon Dec 3 201218:10Seahawks LG Carpenter has MRI on Monday
Seahawks LG James Carpenter "felt a sharp pain" in his surgically-repaired knee on Sunday and underwent an MRI on Monday.
Seattle is still awaiting the results of the test, but the news doesn't sound all that encouraging. It's the same knee that Carpenter tore the ACL in last season. John Moffitt will fill in at left guard for as long as Carpenter is absent.
