Young suffered a torn ACL/MCL on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season, Scott Bair of CSN reports.
Young was helped off the field in the third quarter and carted to the locker room. He took over the starting job after Tyvon Branch went down with a broken foot in Week 3 and played nearly every step over the past four weeks. He'll miss the remainder of the season, and his recovery could carry over into the start of the 2015 season.

Young will take over as the starter at strong safety for the Raiders with Tyvon Branch (foot) out for the season, ESPN.com reports.
With Branch officially back on IR after suffering a broken foot in last Sunday's loss to the Patriots, Young will step into the starting lineup opposite Charles Woodson. Last season, Young recorded 26 tackles (20 solo) and 2.5 sacks in 12 games, so while he should see plenty of opportunities for tackles in the secondary, he won't be worthy of serious IDP consideration in most leagues until he shows it on the field.
Sat Mar 15 201411:04Raiders re-sign Usama Young for two-years
Raiders re-signed FS Usama Young to a two-year contract.
Young finished 2013 on IR with a neck injury, but should be fine for the start of the season. A rotational safety, Young finished 2013 with 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception.

Sat Dec 7 201316:26Raiders place Usama Young on I.R.
Raiders placed FS Usama Young on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his season.
Young suffered the injury in Week 13 and would have been a long shot to return this season. A rotational safety, he finishes 2013 with 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception. The Raiders have just two healthy safeties on their active roster, so it's a sign Tyvon Branch (fibula/ankle) could return next week.

Tue Apr 9 201316:07Raiders sign S Usama Young
Raiders agreed to terms with S Usama Young, formerly of the Browns.
The former Brown and Saint is reuniting with coach Dennis Allen, who served as his DBs coach in New Orleans from 2008-10. He started 11 games for the Browns last season. Young is best suited for a reserve role, but will likely start opposite Tyvon Branch. He notched 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three interceptions in 2012, so he may at least provide some big-play ability.

Free agent S Usama Young met with the Bengals.
Young, 27, started 11 games at free safety for the Browns last season. He registered 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and three interceptions while battling a concussion and knee injury. Young is best suited as a reserve and would serve as depth at safety while contributing on special teams.

Browns placed FS Usama Young on injured reserve, ending his season.
Young has a thumb injury that will likely require surgery. He started 11 games this year, compiling 53 tackles and setting career-highs in sacks (1.5) and interceptions (3). He'll likely be back as a starter next to T.J. Ward in 2013, the final year of his contract.

Browns FS Usama Young (concussion) has resumed practicing.
Young practiced Wednesday for the first time since he was concussed against the Steelers in Week 12. He'll grab the starting job back from rookie Tashaun Gipson. Young posted 42 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions and six pass breakups through the first 10 games of the season.

Sun Nov 25 201214:58Usama Young leaves with head injury
Browns FS Usama Young left Sunday's Weeks 12 game against the Steelers with a head injury and will not return.
Young tried to tackle Heath Miller in the open field and got absolutely trucked. He had to be helped to the locker room by trainers. It's almost certainly a concussion.

Mon Oct 1 201214:22Usama Young 'feeling a lot better'
Browns FS Usama Young (knee) is "feeling a lot better."
The Browns hadn't commented on Young's status since he left Thursday night's loss. "We'll see. I've gotta take it day by day," Young said Monday. "I was able to do some moving around on it. I'm moving around on it pretty good." With Tashaun Gipson also ailing, Eric Hagg could return to the starting lineup if Young isn't ready for Week 5.

Fri Sep 28 201209:11Browns safeties Young, Gipson injured
Browns safeties Usama Young and Tashaun Gipson both left Thursday's Week 4 game versus the Ravens with knee injuries.
The extent of the injuries is unknown. Young had replaced early-season starter Eric Hagg (inactive Thursday night) as the starting free safety, with Gipson as the new backup. Strong safety T.J. Ward was spotted with a cast on his hand after the game, but said he didn't know if the hand was broken.

Fri Sep 21 201219:27Usama Young promoted into starting lineup
Usama Young has been promoted into the Browns' starting lineup at free safety, displacing Eric Hagg.
Hagg was victimized on Bengals WR Brandon Tate's 44-yard touchdown pass in Week 2 and also missed a tackle. The depth chart change still says more about Hagg's struggles than Young as an expected upgrade. Young nearly lost his roster spot in training camp to undrafted free agent rookie Tashaun Gipson.

Fri Sep 23 201109:24Young pushing Adams for starting job?
Usama Young is once again pushing Mike Adams for the Browns' starting free safety job.
"It's a real possibility," Shurmur said. "I feel like we've got three safeties playing and doing a nice job. It's a very long season." Shurmur wanted Young to take the job coming out of camp, but a hamstring injury and Adams' solid play have kept him as the third safety so far.

Fri Sep 9 201109:40Usama Young practicing fully again
Browns S Usama Young practiced fully Thursday for the first time since coming down with a hamstring injury before the first preseason game.
Coach Pat Shurmur won't say whether Young or Mike Adams will draw the start at free safety against the Bengals. At least for the opener, we'd lean toward the latter after Young missed so much time over the past month.

Fri Aug 5 201118:39Usama Young takes over as Browns' starter
Usama Young has already assumed the Browns' starting free safety job.
He's moved ahead of Mike Adams. T.J. Ward is the IDP to target in the Browns' secondary, but the team is relying on Young (six career starts) to be a "center-field" cover safety. Fantasy owners should be sure to target the Cleveland secondary for receiver matchup purposes. They're also breaking in two rookies on the defensive line and are likely to struggle versus the run.

Thu Jul 28 201115:44Browns sign safety Usama Young
Browns agreed to terms with S Usama Young, formerly of the Saints.
The signing allows the former Kent State star to return home and compete for a starting job with Abram Elam leaving. We suspect hard hitting T.J. Ward will be moving to strong safety with Young battling for the free safety job. The Browns may not be down tinkering in the secondary.

Tue Jul 26 201121:44Report: Browns interested in Usama Young
The Browns reportedly have an interest in free agent S Usama Young.
Young drew a third-round tender from the Saints in March, but that's no longer binding for a player of four years experience. Young has experience at cornerback and safety, and he starred locally at Kent State in college. He would play a reserve/special teams role in Cleveland.

Tue Mar 1 201120:06Usama Young draws third-round tender
Saints extended a third-round restricted free agent tender to S Usama Young.
Young is likely headed toward unrestricted free agency as a four-year player, but he won't generate much interest. The Saints' offer suggests an interest in bringing back Young as a reserve safety and special teamer.

Thu Apr 15 201007:41Usama Young set to sign Saints' tender
Saints re-signed restricted free agent S Usama Young to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
A three-year veteran out of Kent State, Young played in 12 games as a backup safety and special teamer last season. He's not a strong candidate to emerge as a starter even if free agent Darren Sharper isn't brought back.
