Dockery spent the past two season with Carolina, before he was released at the end of the preseason this year. However, in wake of recent injuries to cornerbacks Josh Norman (concussion) and Bene Benwikere (ankle), Dockery will re-join the Panthers and provide depth to the team's secondary.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot does not expect CB James Dockery to push Sheldon Brown for a starting job.
Dockery went undrafted last season, but made the team with a strong training camp and preseason. He played only 13 defensive snaps, however, and was inactive for the team's final three games. His main contributions will come on special teams this season.

Browns GM Tom Heckert suggested rookie CB James Dockery has earned a roster spot with a strong showing in preseason action.
"I think he's proven he can play in this league," Heckert said. Undrafted out of Oregon State, Dockery has been on our radar since the Cleveland Plain Dealer named him one of the biggest surprises in its training camp wrap-up. He'll back up at cornerback and safety while pitching in on special teams.
