Williams led all 49ers with six tackles (all solo) in Monday's win over the Rams.
Williams put together a strong performance from a position - nose tackle - that usually doesn't produce many tackles. He showed great conditioning on a play where he chased down the speedy Tavon Austin on a reverse end-around. Williams appears to be completely over the ankle injury that plagued him early in the year and will see the majority of snaps at nose tackle going forward.

Williams recorded five tackles and also swatted a pass in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.
Williams had his best game of the season Sunday. He doesn't generate much of a pass rush as the nose tackle in a 3-4 defense, but he should get his share of tackles now that he is fully healthy.

Williams (ankle) may still be a while away from returning, ESPN's Bill Williamson reports.
Williams opened 2013 as the 49ers' starting nose tackle, but then suffered a season-ending broken ankle in mid-September. He was replaced by former first-round draft pick Glenn Dorsey (torn biceps), who filled in admirably but is now out for the 2014 season. With Dorsey out and Williams' status uncertain, 2013 fifth-round draft pick Quinton Dial figures to take the first-ream reps at nose tackle in training camp.

Mon Jul 25 201122:1949ers sign nose tackle Ian Williams
49ers agreed to terms with former Notre Dame NT Ian Williams.
He was SI.com draft analyst Tony Pauline's No. 1-rated undrafted prospect. Williams played nose tackle in Notre Dame's 3-4 defense, so he'll at least be familiar with the formatting of San Francisco's defensive system. It's also a great fit for the 6-foot-1, 319-pound prospect because the 49ers only have four defensive linemen under contract and are losing Aubrayo Franklin.
