Sun May 18 201418:32Steelers happy with Beachum at left tackle
The Steelers are "happy" with Kelvin Beachum as their starting left tackle.
Beachum is significantly undersized for an NFL left tackle at 6-foot-3, 303 with 33 1/4-inch arms, but wins with technique and leverage. Beachum made 11 starts at left tackle in 2013, earning positive marks from Pro Football Focus in pass protection. He was a liability in the running game. From left to right, this is the Steelers' O-Line: LT Beachum, LG Ramon Foster, C Maurkice Pouncey, RG David DeCastro, RT Marcus Gilbert. Mike Adams is the swing tackle.

Kelvin Beachum is considered the favorite to enter 2014 as the Steelers' starting left tackle.
Per the Steelers' official website, "there's strong evidence" Beachum will be Ben Roethlisberger's blindside protector "beyond 2014, as well." Beachum, a 2012 seventh-round pick, can play any of the five positions on the offensive line. He was the 2013 Week 1 starter at center before starting 11 games at left tackle. Beachum received solid pass-blocking marks from Pro Football Focus.

Thu May 30 201317:23Steelers giving Beachum looks at center
The Steelers are giving second-year OL Kelvin Beachum some reps at center.
Beachum obviously isn't an option to start ahead of Maurkice Pouncey, but it's an opportunity for last year's seventh-round pick to improve his versatility. Beachum started five games at right tackle last season, and he can also play guard. The Steelers let backup center Doug Legursky go in free agency.

Steelers GM Kevin Colbert listed G Kelvin Beachum and TE Leonard Pope as standouts from offseason practices.
Beachum, a seventh-round pick in April, is versatile enough that he will eventually be able to play all five positions on the offensive line. He'll compete for a primary backup job in his rookie season. Pope, 28, is the favorite to back up Heath Miller.
