The fourth-year standout has had a couple of relatively quite performances in 2015, but has been a force two out of the last three contests. David will look to continue his strong play in a Week 7 matchup against the Redskins following the Bucs' Week 6 bye.

David was on the field for all 93 defensive snaps in Week 3 against the Texans, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The deal, which include $25 million in guaranteed money, will keep the productive weakside linebacker in the fold for the long haul, on the heels of a IDP-friendly 2014 campaign in which David racked up 146 tackles in 14 games in his third campaign with the Bucs.

The lack of sacks and the fact David was among several notable players snubbed from the Pro Bowl is likely attributable to his role as weakside 'backer for Lovie Smith's 4-3 defense. The 24-year-old is seldem used in pass-rushing situations and is primarily deployed as the team's top run stopper. With David and Gerald McCoy, the Buccaneers have two of the league's best defenders plugged in as pieces of what should be a much-improved unit next year.
