Wilber saw first-team reps at strong-side linebacker to begin training camp, Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com reports.
Anthony Hitchens is expected to win the starting job at the SAM position, but with Rolando McClain set to serve a four-game suspension to begin the season, Hitchens is seeing some early reps at middle linebacker instead. Even if Wilber wins the starting spot on the strong-side, his IDP value would be limited due to the fact that he'd come off the field in passing situations.
Fri Aug 22 201411:13Wilber
Wilber, who's mostly been practicing at strong-side linebacker this preseason, has started getting reps at defensive end again, the Dallas Morning News reports.
The Cowboys are still looking for the right combinations among their front seven, and it's entirely possible that Wilber could see snaps at both positions this season. Playing some DE on passing downs could help boost his sack total, but he's still not someone you want to invest an IDP roster spot in at this point.
Sat Jul 5 201415:58Kyle Wilber remains favorite for SAM spot
ESPN Dallas expects Kyle Wilber to win the Cowboys' strong-side linebacker job.
Wilber will be pushed by DeVonte Holloman, but is the favorite to remain at the SAM spot after starting four of the final five games there last season. A converted defensive end, Willber should be limited to a two-down role. Bruce Carter and Justin Durant will likely play in nickel packages.

Tue Feb 11 201413:25Kyle Wilber may have future at linebacker
The Cowboys' official website believes Kyle Wilber will be in the mix to start at strong-side linebacker.
Wilber started four of the final five games at the SAM spot after transitioning from defensive end. He wasn't producing with his hand in the dirt, so the Cowboys gave him a shot at linebacker. Wilber received positive marks as a run defender and can rush the passer a bit in nickel packages. Dallas can save $1.25 million against the cap by cutting SLB Justin Durant.

Tue Dec 3 201310:44Kyle Wilber steals starting job from Durant
Jerry Jones hinted that Kyle Wilber has stolen the starting strong-side linebacker job from Justin Durant.
Durant has missed the last two games due to a hamstring pull. The Cowboys have won both and Wilber has compiled 11 tackles including one for a loss. "If you [are injured] and you're the starter, then you're supposed to be the starter when you get back. So much for that. I'm excited about Wilber as a player, as an asset for the Cowboys," Jones said.

Fri Apr 26 201317:01Cowboys moving Kyle Wilber to defensive end
The Cowboys are moving Kyle Wilber to defensive end.
Wilber, a fourth-round pick last year, was expected to compete for one of the outside linebacker spots in the new 4-3 defense this year, but the Cowboys like his 6-foot-4, 246-pound frame better at end. Wilber racked up just five tackles in ten games as a rookie, playing just 16 snaps on defense.

Sun Mar 10 201316:25Kyle Wilber has chance at starting job
The Cowboys are expected to give 2012 fourth-round pick Kyle Wilber a chance to be their starting strong-side linebacker.
Dallas has a need at SAM in the new 4-3, and Wilber is considered the favorite over Alex Albright. The Cowboys won't add to this position in free agency, but could in the draft. Wilber was a stand-up defensive end at Wake Forest. He would probably be a two-down player, replaced by a defensive back in the nickel.

Cowboys fourth-round LB Kyle Wilber broke his left thumb in Monday's preseason opener, and will be sidelined "at least" four weeks.
He'll undergo surgery. Wilber missed most of the Cowboys' offseason program as he recovered from surgery to repair a broken right index finger, but had yet to miss a practice in camp. Wilber should be limited to special teams when he returns, but could see snaps as a situational pass rusher later in the season.
