Head coach Jason Garrett said Monday that the Cowboys will evaluate the entire roster during their upcoming Week 6 bye, Marc Sessler of NFL.com reports. "We're gonna evaluate our quarterbacks, we're gonna evaluate our offensive line, we're gonna evaluate our tight ends, our receivers, our running backs, everybody on defense and everybody in the kicking game," Garrett said. "We'll do that this week. We'll make any determinations as the week goes on."
While the Cowboys have problems across the board, as intimated by Garrett's comments, the quarterback situation is poised to dominate the sports radio circuit during the bye week. Weeden has so far posted a 72.4 completion percentage, but explosive plays have been nonexistent since Tony Romo broke his collarbone in Week 2. As evidence, Weeden boasts 7.54 yards per attempt in Romo's stead, culminating in a mark of 4.82 in Sunday's pummeling at the hands of the Patriots. If the Cowboys opt for change, Matt Cassel would be the obvious replacement due to his starting experience, but the aforementioned bye will likely delay any decision for some time.

Weeden completed 26-of-39 passes for 188 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 30-6 loss to New England. He had three carries for 18 yards.
Weeden looked shaky throughout, and had a tough time sustaining drives. Even in garbage time, he couldn't lead the Cowboys to a touchdown, misfiring to an open Terrance Williams in the end zone from close range on the their last offensive snap of the game. Dallas has a bye next week, so keep an eye on things, as the team could turn to veteran QB Matt Cassel in Week 7.

Weeden completed 16 of 26 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-20 overtime loss to the Saints.
Weeden got 67 of his yards on a deep throw to a wide-open Brice Butler, and he also had some nice gains on the game-tying drive, which ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Williams on fourth down. The Cowboys otherwise deployed a very conservative strategy for the second straight week, relying on dump-offs and a mostly ineffective running game. Weeden actually played a decent game, but there's a good reason the Cowboys are limiting his impact, and he probably won't get to truly air it out unless the team falls behind by a wide margin. Of course, such a scenario could come to pass in Week 5, with the 3-0 Patriots traveling to Dallas.

Weeden completed 22-of-26 passes for 232 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 39-28 loss to the Falcons
The Cowboys game plan focused on short passes and the running game and produced 28 first half points, but once the Falcons defense adjusted Weeden couldn't sustain any drives down the stretch. He should get another start next week in New Orleans, but another ineffective showing could open the door for Matt Cassel.
Wed Sep 23 201512:41Brandon Weeden: Starting Sunday
Head coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday that Weeden will start Sunday's game against the Falcons, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
When Tony Romo was diagnosed with a broken clavicle Sunday, it was assumed that Weeden would be under center during Romo's entire recovery period, but the Cowboys acquired Matt Cassel from the Bills on Tuesday, potentially creating competition for Weeden. Indeed, Garrett confirmed as much Wednesday, noting that Cassel was brought in "to compete." While Weeden will get the initial nod in Romo's stead, the Cowboys' quarterback situation may be in flux over the next two months.

Weeden completed all seven of his pass attempts for 73 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-10 win at Philadelphia. He was forced into action because Tony Romo fractured his left clavicle, and is expected to miss 4-to-12 weeks.
A more concrete timeline for Romo should be available soon, but those that play in two-QB leagues or deeper formats, will certainly want to consider Weeden, although he would have looked more attractive if Dez Bryant (ankle) were available over the next month or two. In any case, Weeden wasn't asked to do much Sunday, as the Cowboys were leading when he entered the game. He did throw a nice 42-yard touchdown strike to Terrance Williams late in the fourth quarter to ice the win. In Week 3, Weeden will take on the Falcons at home.
Sun Sep 13 201519:24Weeden (concussion) active for Sunday's game against Giants
Weeden (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants, David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports.
Weeden suffered a concussion during the Cowboys' third preseason game, but he never seemed to be in much danger of missing the opener. He'll serve as Tony Romo's backup.

Weeden (head) is probable for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Giants, DallasCowboys.com reports.
Weeden suffered a concussion during the Cowboys' third preseason game, but he was a full participant in practice throughout the week. As was the case last season, he'll serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Tony Romo.

Weeden left Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers with a head injury and was evaluated for a concussion, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.
Weeden completed just two of five passes for seven yards before suffering the injury on a sack. He previously suffered concussions in 2012 and 2013 but made a quick recovery both times. If he isn't ready for Week 1, the Cowboys will likely keep Dustin Vaughan or Jameil Showers to serve as Tony Romo's backup.

Weeden completed 4-of-5 passes for 42 yards in Thursday's preseason opener against the Chargers.
With Tony Romo held out as a precaution, Weeden got the start but only played one drive. He led the Cowboys down the field to the San Diego 33-yard line, only to fumble a shotgun snap on a fourth-and-1. The lack of playing time suggests Weeden is all but assured of the backup job, and neither Dustin Vaughan nor Jameill Showers was particularly impressive.

Weeden completed 18 of 33 passes for 183 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions Sunday against the Cardinals.
Weeden got the start in place of the injured Tony Romo (back), and he struggled throughout the game, passing for just 103 yards and no touchdowns until the final drive, which ended on a three-yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant with 1:08 left in the game to make it 28-17. Romo is dealing with two transverse process fractures in his back, but he will reportedly travel to London for next week's game against the Jaguars, with team owner Jerry Jones saying "we're betting on it" in response to a question of whether Romo will play. If he does play, Weeden will return to the backup role, though one hit to Romo's back and Weeden could be thrown right back onto the field.

Weeden will start Sunday against the Cardinals in place of the injured Tony Romo (back), NFL.com reports.
Romo was listed as questionable coming into the game, but a diagnosis of two transverse process fractures in his back likely killed any possibility of playing Sunday. It's a solid opportunity for Weeden, who will face off against a Cardinals defense ranked dead last in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game, giving up 302.9 weekly.

If Tony Romo (back) is unable to play against Arizona on Sunday, Weeden would start for Dallas.
Romo didn't practice all week but was listed as questionable, making him a game-time decision against the Cardinals. Weeden has a strong arm and arguably good pedigree as a former first-round pick, but he's still a bust with accuracy issues, and he struggles to read defenses. Even against a vulnerable Arizona pass defense, it would be difficult to sign off on him outside of leagues that start two quarterbacks.

Weeden completed 4-of-6 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Redskins.
With Tony Romo (back) sidelined for a good chunk of the second half, Weeden led the Cowboys to 10 points on two drives, highlighted by a game-tying, 25-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten with under 10 minutes remaining. Romo returned to the game for the following drive, indicating that he'll likely play in Week 9 against the Cardinals.

Despite the fact that Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and DeMarco Murray all got the night off, Weeden looked sharp in Thursday's preseason opener, completing 13-of-17 passes for 107 yards and a TD.
He played the entire first half, and looked very comfortable in the Cowboys' offense. Should Tony Romo not make it through the entire 16-game schedule, Weeden seems ready to step in.
Mon Mar 17 201415:50Cowboys sign Brandon Weeden to 2-year deal
Cowboys signed QB Brandon Weeden to a two-year contract.
Weeden, 43 30, made 20 starts in Cleveland the past two seasons, compiling a 5-15 record with a 23:26 TD-to-INT ratio and 55.9 completion rate. A former top-prospect baseball pitcher, Weeden has always possessed plus arm strength but has very little athleticism and is maddeningly deliberate in all of his movements. His skill set makes an offensive line look worse. The Cowboys need arms for the offseason program with Kyle Orton undecided about playing in 2014, and Tony Romo coming off back surgery.

Sun Mar 16 201421:50Weeden, Melton to visit Cowboys on Monday
Free agents Brandon Weeden and Henry Melton will both visit the Cowboys on Monday.
The Cowboys are serious about this Weeden thing. They still don't know whether Kyle Orton will play in 2014, and gave Weeden a high grade coming out of Oklahoma State in 2012. Melton would be a much more impressive get for cap-strapped Dallas. Cowboys DC Rod Marinelli turned Melton into a Pro Bowler in Chicago.

Wed Mar 12 201415:40Browns throw in the towel, cut QB Weeden
Browns released QB Brandon Weeden.
Weeden was the 22nd overall pick in the 2012 draft and has no ties to the current Browns regime. It was inevitable that GM Ray Farmer was going to cut the cord on the 30-year-old third-year pro. Weeden went 0-5 as a starter last season and seems to be regressing. He took a whopping 55 sacks in 23 games of action and has a career 23:29 touchdown-to-turnover ratio to go along with a 71.8 quarterback rating. Weeden has no anticipation and doesn't have a feel for the pocket. We expect him to have a cold market.

Thu Feb 20 201417:56New Browns GM won't cut Weeden slack
Browns GM Ray Farmer plans to evaluate Brandon Weeden based on what he's done "in the National Football League."
"Once you're in the National Football league, you're graded upon your performance and what you were able to achieve at that moment," Farmer said. In other words, the Browns will be moving on from Weeden. It's a marriage both sides want out of. Weeden has no trade value. He'll be released and attempt to latch on as someone's No. 2 or 3 quarterback.
