Fri Jul 31 201517:25Orson Charles: Suspended for First Game of Season
Charles has been suspended for the first game of the 2015 season for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
Charles spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the Bengals before signing with the Saints this year. He currently sits behind both Ben Watson and Josh Hill for the tight end position and any chance of moving higher takes a hit as a result of the suspension. Except in the case of injury, Charles likely won't see much of the field this season after week one.

Updating a previous item, Bengals FB Orson Charles allegedly brandished a firearm while driving down the highway in Kentucky on Monday night.

A complaint was called in by another driver after Charles had a fit of road rage that saw the Bengals' H-back brandish a firearm several times and cut the aforementioned driver off on the interstate. Charles was booked for DUI prior to the 2012 draft.

Mon Aug 5 201314:22Bengals list Orson Charles as starting FB
The Bengals listed former TE Orson Charles as the first-team fullback on their opening depth chart of camp.
He's already ahead of John Conner and injured Chris Pressley. Charles is more H-back than lead blocker, but "has been among the most pleasant surprises this camp," per ESPN AFC North blogger Jamison Hensley. Charles is off the fantasy radar, but his move into the starting lineup is an indication the Bengals will use fewer I-formation runs with BenJarvus Green-Ellis' role diminishing.

Mon Jul 8 201312:45Orson Charles appears in for full-on switch
The Bengals appear to be moving TE Orson Charles to fullback full time.
We knew Charles was dabbling in fullback during OTAs, but coach Marvin Lewis intimates the position switch is permanent. "He's a guy we know can play tight end but we're moving him to the backfield," Lewis said. "He brings athleticism and natural pass-catching ability to the position." Showing well as a lead blocker may be Charles' only path to a roster spot. He's currently behind Chris Pressley and John Conner on the depth chart.

Bengals TE Orson Charles is getting some reps at fullback during OTAs.
Charles is trying to salvage his roster spot with versatility. The 2012 fourth-round pick won't be any higher than third on tight end depth chart with Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert in town.

Sun May 5 201317:55Orson Charles could be on roster bubble
The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy suggests second-year TE Orson Charles could be on the roster bubble this summer.
Charles was such a rookie non-factor that he hasn't merited a Rotoworld blurb since June of 2012. Reedy expects Charles to be the Bengals' "No. 3 TE or released." A fourth-round pick out of Georgia, Charles played roughly 300 snaps but caught only eight passes for 101 yards. He's become superfluous after Tyler Eifert was drafted to team with Jermaine Gresham in two-tight packages.
