Wed Aug 19 201512:03The Bills signed Bryant on Wednesday
The Bills signed Bryant on Wednesday, ESPN.com reports.
With Marcell Dareus suspended for the Bills' regular-season opener, Bryant will bolster the team's defensive line depth out of the gate, while adding an experienced run-stuffing presence up front beyond that.
Thu Mar 12 201513:23Bryant released by Jaguars on Thursday
Bryant was released by the Jaguars on Thursday, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Bryant, who was due a $500,000 roster bonus this weekend, will part ways with the Jaguars after only one season. The move saves the Jags about $4.5 million cap space, and Bryant became expendable after the team signed Jared Odrick on Wednesday. The 31-year-old Bryant started all 16 games last season, recording 22 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

Thu Mar 6 201413:39Red Bryant expected to sign before FA starts
Free agent DE Red Bryant is expected to sign a new deal before the start of free agency.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Bryant's market is "strong." Bryant hasn't generated much public buzz since his release from the Seahawks last week, but has been linked to the Chiefs. He'd be wise to find a new home before free agency floods the market with similar talents.

Sun Mar 2 201414:42Chiefs have interest in Red Bryant
The National Football Post's Aaron Wilson is "hearing" the Chiefs have interest in free agent DE Red Bryant.
Bryant could play five-technique end in Kansas City, replacing free agent Tyson Jackson. Bryant is also expected to field interest from New England, though he hasn't generated significant buzz since Seattle released him on Friday.

Fri Feb 28 201416:06SEA releases DL Bryant, clears $5.5M in space
Seahawks released DL Red Bryant.
FOX Sports' Alex Marvez first reported that Bryant was expected to be released. The move clears $5.5 million in cap space, and along with the release of Sidney Rice frees up $7.3 for the Super Bowl champions. Marvez reported GM John Schneider was planning to put some of the money toward re-signing DE Michael Bennett. Bryant saw his career resurrected under coach Pete Carroll, but was called on for only 488 snaps in 2013. Bryant is stout as a run stopper, but offers nothing as a pass rusher. He was expendable for a team with Seattle's defensive line depth. There's a good chance Bryant finds a new home before the start of free agency on March 11.

Mon Feb 24 201410:03Red Bryant a target for the Patriots?
The Patriots tried to sign DL Red Bryant as a free agent in 2012.
Bryant ultimately decided to spurn the Patriots to sign a five-year, $35 million deal with the Seahawks. Fast forward two years, and he's expected to be released by the Seahawks as a cap casualty. Bryant will come cheaper this time around and would be a nice add for Bill Belichick at the defensive tackle spot, where Vince Wilfork is 32 years old and coming off an Achilles' tear. The Jags and former Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley could also have interest.

Sun Feb 23 201421:01Report: Seahawks to release LE Red Bryant
FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports the Seahawks will release LE Red Bryant.
The move would save $5.5M in cap room. Per Marvez, GM John Schneider plans to use the money toward re-signing free agent DE Michael Bennett. A former defensive tackle and disappointing 2008 fourth-round pick, Bryant's career was resurrected when Pete Carroll arrived in Seattle, converting him to a mammoth run-stopping "five-technique" end. Bryant signed a five-year, $35M deal in 2012 and is owed $7.5M in salary and bonuses in 2014. Once the transaction goes down, Bryant will become an attractive free agent. He turns 30 in April.

Mon Feb 3 201419:27LE Red Bryant due $3 million roster bonus
Seahawks LE Red Bryant currently has an $8.5 million cap number for 2014.
Working against Bryant is a $3 million roster bonus due on March 14. Bryant only played 488 snaps in 2013, offers next to nothing in terms of a pass rush, and turns 30 in April. The Seahawks are looking to clear as much cap space as possible with important players like DL Michael Bennett set to hit the open market next month.

Fri Nov 8 201317:11Red Bryant ruled out for Week 10
Seahawks LE Red Bryant has been ruled out for Week 10 with a concussion.
Bryant is a core run stuffer for Seattle, which has been quietly slammed by run games each of the past two weeks. This provides some hope that Steven Jackson could have a somewhat productive game as a Week 10 flex option.

Tue May 28 201309:16Red Bryant says foot injury is behind him
Seahakws DE Red Bryant says he's over the foot injury that plagued him during the second half of last season.
Bryant gamely played through a torn plantar fascia, but his effectiveness was sapped. Now he's watching his weight and feeling 100 percent. Assuming Bryant returns to his dominant run-stuffing self, the Seahawks' defense will get a boost. They already ranked 10th against the rush last season.

Thu Feb 14 201317:50Red Bryant played with torn plantar fascia
Seahawks LE Red Bryant played with a torn plantar fascia in his foot for the second half of the 2012 season.
That likely explains Bryant's down season versus the run. After grading out as a top-12 run defending end in 2011 at Pro Football Focus, he dropped all the way to No. 49 in the end-of-the-year rankings for 2012. Seattle still boasted the tenth-ranked run defense in the league, so look for them to only get better this upcoming season. Bryant, 29 in April, is entering the second year of a five-year, $35 million contract.

Tue Mar 13 201218:14Seahawks keep run-stuffer Bryant for $35M
NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports the Seahawks re-signed LE Red Bryant.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a five-year, $35 million deal with $14.5 million guaranteed. Seattle is still seeking a pass rusher, but Bryant was too important to the team's run defense as a strong-side end in Pete Carroll's scheme. The Patriots, among others, were poised to make a run at the run-stuffer.

Tue Mar 13 201211:39Seahawks 'working hard' to re-sign Bryant
SI's Jim Trotter reports the Seahawks are "working hard" to re-sign LE Red Bryant before the start of free agency.
Trotter also confirms the Saints are making a late push to re-sign LG Carl Nicks. Bryant is expected to draw heavy interest on the open market after emerging as one of the league's better run stoppers in 2011.

Tue Mar 13 201209:59Pats 'slated to make a play' for LE Bryant
The Boston Herald's Ian Rapoport "hears" the Patriots are slated to "make a play" for free agent LE Red Bryant.
Signing Bryant would help offset the possible losses of free agents Mark Anderson and Andre Carter, but could come with a relatively steep price tag for a soon-to-be 28-year-old end with just two career sacks. Bryant would go a long way toward solidifying the Patriots' 17th ranked run defense, however.

Sat Mar 10 201221:45Seattle to offer Bryant $9 million guaranteed
The Seahawks are prepared to offer free agent LE Red Bryant a contract directly in line with the deal that Brandon Mebane signed last offseason.
Mebane's contract included $9 million in guaranteed money, and an average annual salary of $5 million per season. Bryant would likely draw interest from several teams on the open market, but said in January that he fully intends to re-sign with Seattle.

Mon Mar 5 201212:43Times: Seahawks unlikely to use franchise tag
The Seattle Times does not expect the Seahawks to place the franchise tag on free agent LE Red Bryant ahead of Monday's deadline.
The tag was freed up for the Seahawks after they signed Marshawn Lynch to a four-year, $32 million contract Sunday, but they apparently aren't giving strong consideration to slapping it on Bryant. He would be due $10.6 million under the tag in 2012. Bryant said in January he intended to re-sign with the Seahawks.

Mon Jan 2 201217:32Red Bryant wants to re-sign with Seahawks
Impending free agent LE Red Bryant said Monday that he intends to re-sign with Seattle this offseason.
"I have a desire to be here," said Bryant, whose career was rejuvenated by coach Pete Carroll's usage of him as a "five-technique" defensive end. Bryant could draw interest from several 3-4 teams if he hit the open market, though, after developing a reputation as a mammoth run stopper over the past two seasons.

Mon Aug 22 201115:56Seahawks DE Red Bryant is a run stuffer
The Seahawks allowed an average of 4.68 yards per carry after LE Red Bryant's year-ending injury last season, compared to 3.36 YPC before.
Their rushing yards per game allowed also ballooned from 82.6 yards to 130.1 in Bryant's absence. A dominant run defender at Pete Carroll's "five technique" defensive end position, Bryant has resumed practicing at full speed in training camp. He'll return as a two-down player, exiting on passing downs.

Fri Aug 19 201114:47Seahawks remove restrictions from DE Bryant
The Seahawks have removed all restrictions from LE Red Bryant (knee), and he's resumed practicing at full speed in camp.
Bryant was limited to open camp after last year's surgery for a torn MCL, but he's good to go now. "We realized Red is officially back," stated coach Pete Carroll. Bryant was a high-impact run defender in his first taste of Carroll's defense last season. He'll return as a starter opposite RE Chris Clemons.
