Mills was claimed off waivers by the Cowboys on Monday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Mills entered training camp as the starter at right tackle for the Bears, but the team's new coaching staff wasn't convinced the third-year pro would be a viable solution along the offensive line. With the ability to play both tackle and guard, Mills should be a useful reserve option for the Cowboys.

Mills was released by the Bears on Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Mills, who had started at right tackle the last two seasons, never seemed to earn the faith of the Bears' new regime, with Charles Leno ultimately earning the promotion to the first team later in camp. With Mills out of the picture, it's possible that the Bears end up moving their best lineman -- guard Kyle Long -- to right tackle.

Although Mills is billed as having solidified the Bears' right tackle position last year, he was the weak link of Chicago's offensive line. PFF charged Mills with 62 QB hurries allowed, the most in the NFL among tackles. The Bears will hope for improvement in Mills' second year. He's still only 23.
