Sun Sep 6 201516:00Thompkins signed to Patriots' practice squad
Thompkins has been signed to the Patriots' practice squad, csnne.com reports.
Thompkins, who caught 32 passes for 466 yards and four touchdowns for the Patriots as a rookie in 2013, was cut by the team last October when linebacking depth was needed. At the time, the team was hoping that Thompkins would go unclaimed on waivers, thus allowing him to sign on with New England's practice squad. He ended up playing in 12 games for the Raiders, recording 15 catches for 209 yards in the process. Now that he's back with the Patriots' organization, it's not hard to imagine Thompkins being promoted to the team's active roster down the road.
Mon Aug 31 201519:56Thompkins waived by Raiders on Monday
Thompkins was waived by the Raiders on Monday, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.
Thompkins has been deemed expendable in a suddenly deep corps of wideouts, which includes Michael Crabtree, Amari Cooper, Andre Holmes (hand), Brice Butler (undisclosed), and Seth Roberts. If Thompkins passes through waivers unclaimed, the Raiders could offer him a spot on the practice squad in the near future.

Thompkins caught five passes on seven targets for 90 yards in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Bills.
Quarterback Derek Carr didn't throw a pass Thompkins' way in the team's previous two games, but he looked for the second-year wideout a team-high seven times Sunday. Thompkins responded by posting the second-highest yardage total of his career, more yards than he racked up in his previous seven games combined. The 26-year-old may have earned more snaps with this performance, but he'll still be nothing more than a daily/deep-league dart in Week 17.

Thompkins caught two passes on three targets for a team-high 47 yards in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Chargers.
Thompkins' 35-yard reception midway through the fourth quarter set up a field goal and kept the Raiders alive, possibly earning him some extra snaps in the weeks ahead, but he's still behind James Jones, Andre Holmes and even Mychal Rivera in the pecking order. The Raiders face the top-ranked Chiefs pass defense (201.2 YPG) in Week 12.
Sun Nov 9 201414:41Thompkins (personal) active for Sunday's game versus Broncos
Thompkins (personal) is active for Sunday's game versus the Broncos.
Thompkins has missed practice a handful of times the past two weeks due to a personal concern, but his availability on Game Day hasn't been in question. Although he's been utilized in a limited basis since the Raiders claimed him off waivers in early October, his output during the last two outings -- five receptions (on 10 targets) for 42 yards and one carry for seven yards -- seems to ensure utility in deeper leagues.
Fri Nov 7 201418:11Though Thompkins (personal) did not practice Friday
Though Thompkins (personal) did not practice Friday, he is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Raiders' official site reports.
Thompkins' absence Friday was excused, so it looks like he will be available for Sunday's game, though given that he's coming off a one-catch, eight-yard effort in Week 9, he's not a high-percentage fantasy option this weekend.
Sun Nov 2 201414:57Thompkins (personal) active for Sunday's game against Seahawks
Thompkins (personal) is active for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
There is no injury concern here - Thompkins was listed on the injury report because he missed Thursday's practice for personal reasons. He surprisingly received eight targets last week, but we'd like to see him be involved consistently before we can feel good about recommending him.

Thompkins (personal) practiced fully Friday and is probable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, the Raiders' official site reports.
Thompkins, who missed Thursday's practice for personal reasons, is thus on track to suit up this weekend, though with James Jones and Andre Holmes also in the mix, it remains to be seen how heavily targeted he'll be on a weekly basis. Last Sunday against the Browns, Thompkins caught four passes on eight targets for 34 yards.
Thu Oct 30 201417:06Thompkins missed Thursday's practice for personal reasons
Thompkins missed Thursday's practice for personal reasons, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
We'll revisit Thompkins' status Friday, but the report indicates that it's unclear at this time if the wideout will be available for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Thompkins caught four passes on eight targets for 34 yards and added seven yards on one carry in Sunday's 23-13 loss to the Browns.
Thompkins finished third on the team in targets, ahead of Andre Holmes (7), but was only able to muster 34 yards on a day when Derek Carr passed for 328. He's still learning the offense, but the Raiders are clearly high on Thompkins, as he played 30 snaps last week in just his second game with the club.
Wed Oct 15 201414:39Thompkins played just two snaps in Sunday's loss to Chargers
Thompkins played just two snaps in Sunday's loss to the Chargers, Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times reports.
Thompkins was active, less than a week after being claimed off waivers from New England, but did not see a target against San Diego. Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson praised Thompkins last weekend, saying he was "playing at a little bit of higher speed right now than we've seen on the practice fields," but it may take a while for the second-year wideout to learn the offense and earn the trust of quarterback Derek Carr. Further, Andre Holmes has emerged as a threat opposite James Jones, and those two figure to command most of the looks moving forward.

Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said Thompkins is "playing at a little bit of higher speed right now than we've seen on the practice fields," the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
It sounds like Thompkins has made quite an impression in the days since he was claimed off waivers from New England, as Olson went on to further praise the wideout for his "tremendous work ethic" and described him as an "intelligent player." Thompkins, who made 38 catches for 519 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie last season, could play for Oakland as soon as Sunday against the Chargers, but he may be used sparingly until he gets further acclimated to the offense.
Mon Oct 6 201416:17The Raiders have claimed Thompkins off waivers from Patriots
The Raiders have claimed Thompkins off waivers from the Patriots, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.
After being let go by the Patriots, Thompkins lands in a situation where he could carve out a role in the Raiders' offense in the coming weeks, though out of the gate, he figures to jostle for depth slotting (behind James Jones and Andre Holmes) along with the likes of Vincent Brown, Brice Butler and Denarius Moore.
Sat Oct 4 201417:19Kenbrell Thompkins: Waived By Patriots
Thompkins was waived by the Patriots on Saturday, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports.
As an undrafted rookie out of Cincinnati, Thompkins put up 257 yards and three touchdowns in his first four games of the 2013 campaign, but hip and concussion issues derailed his season. The 26-year-old was inactive for two of the Patriots first four games of this season, including last week, and even with all the issues New England has had on offense, it ultimately deemed Thompkins expendable. Linebacker Ja'Gared Davis was promoted from the practice squad to take Thompkins' place on the 53-man roster.

As is Aaron Dobson, with the team's Week 4 wideout corps featuring Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell, Danny Amendola and Matthew Slater.

Thompkins was on the field for 38-of-73 snaps on offense in Sunday's win over the Raiders, ESPN.com reports.
Thompkins, who caught one pass for 16 yards in the game, worked worked behind Julian Edelman in Week 3, along with and Brandon LaFell and Danny Amendola. Of the four, Edelman is the only Patriots' wideout to have carved any fantasy utility out of the gate.

Thompkins is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
With Thompkins back in the team's wideout mix Sunday, Aaron Dobson is the odd man out in Week 3.

Thompkins caught five passes on 10 targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 33-20 loss to the Dolphins.
Thompkins was among the Patriots' starters on offense Sunday, with fellow WR Aaron Dobson inactive. While his yardage output wasn't eye-popping, as long as he's getting the snaps -- and Dobson is not -- Thompkins is worth a look in deeper formats.

Once against starting over Brandon LaFell, Thompkins caught two passes for 35 yards on three targets in Friday's game against the Panthers.
Thompkins oddly saw his three targets on three consecutive plays, with a pair of first downs sandwiched around a drop in the second quarter. While he's quite clearly ahead of Brandon LaFell, Thompkins will likely face a challenge from Aaron Dobson (foot), who has yet to play this preseason but seems to be making progress. Whether it's Thompkins or Dobson in the starting role, the targets will likely be rather inconsistent, as was the case last season.
