I had a little injury, some surgery in the offseason, but I feel back fully healthy. I know that I can do the things they want me to do and I can be the No. 2 for us."

The battle for the second spot behind Charles Clay is truly up for grabs. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman likes to use the tight end spot and usually looks for versatility. Gragg, MarQueis Gray, and rookie Nick O'Leary each offers a little bit of something, so the preseason should shake out a clearer pecking order.

With seven catches for 48 yards and a TD in 10 games to date, Gragg's absence is of more import to the Bills' depth at tight end than it is to fantasy owners.

Gragg would probably serve as the third or even fourth tight end and special teams guy if he is able to suit up, as the Bills seem pretty happy with newcomer MarQueis Gray as a backup to starter Scott Chandler.

That Gragg has been ruled out isn't necessarily meaningful, as the Bills have a huge lead in the fourth quarter. Gragg caught 2-of-3 targets for 11 yards in Monday's game, marking just his second multi-reception outing of the season.

Gragg caught the team's only touchdown pass in the Week 5 win over Detroit. It was his only catch and target on the day.

The Bills are starting to get some very modest production from their second-year tight end, who has seen the field for 22 percent of the offensive plays this season after seeing only four percent last season. He's nowhere close to fantasy value with Scott Chandler around, but Gragg does have decent receiving skills and is at least worth following should anything ever happen to Chandler.

Gragg was actually on the field for more plays than starter Scott Chandler last week and had his first catch of the season on two targets, but with Lee Smith finally healthy, the Bills will roll with the better blocker to put behind Chandler for now.

Gragg, who missed several practices after ending up in the hospital last week to be treated for heat-related symptoms, returned to practice Wednesday, The Buffalo News reports.

Gragg didn't do much in his rookie season, catching only five balls in nine games, but with Scott Chandler and Tony Moeki both injured, he should get some first- and second-team looks in the coming days. Gragg currently sits fourth on the depth chart.
