Allen finished with six catches (on 10 targets) for 57 yards in Monday night's loss to the Steelers.

Allen's 10 targets Monday were only topped by teammate Antonio Gates, but despite the veteran tight end returning to the Chargers' lineup, Allen was still able to register his third 10-plus target game this season. While Allen's 57 receiving yards show most of his catches came on underneath passes, his involvement as San Diego's No. 1 wideout is encouraging going forward. Through five games this season, Allen has 39 receptions (on 56 targets) for 444 yards and three touchdowns.

Allen caught four of seven targets for 72 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Browns.

Allen hauled in a gorgeous 28-yard touchdown late in the opening quarter, but that was his only catch of the first half. He added a 31-yard grab in the second half, but Philip Rivers spread things around, completing at least one pass to eight different receivers. The third-year pro has been the epitome of a boom-or-bust option through three weeks, with a combined 27 catches, 299 yards and two touchdowns sandwiching a two-catch, 16-yard performance. Opposing defenses could key in on Allen at times, especially with Antonio Gates still out, but his usage (39 targets in three games) should ensure productive weeks more often than not. Allen will match up with a Browns defense in Week 4 that just allowed 229 yards and a score to Raiders receivers.

Fantasy owners who were expecting anything near Allen's 15-catch performance from Week 1 are likely in a state of shock. Allen didn't catch his first pass until the first half was almost over, and was targeted just four times, less than a quarter of the 17 targets he saw Week 1. Allen is still Philip Rivers' most dependable target, but games like Sunday can serve as a reminder that, though he's San Diego's top receiver, he can't be counted to be yours until he sees a more consistent diet of passes coming his way.

With Jacoby Jones likely to miss Sunday's game at Cincinnati, Allen will probably handle punt returns for the Chargers, ESPN.com reports.

Allen, who already had a huge game in Week 1, might get a little bump in value for this game if your league awards points for special teams play.

Allen's huge performance in Week 1 might be partially attributed to a brand new attitude and focus that he has displayed throughout the preseason, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

During a disappointing second season, Allen was said to lack focus both in game situations as well as practice, but so far this year, he has been a changed man. He has reportedly been putting in excellent effort in practice since day one of training camp, is much more engaged in team meetings, and has been taking better care of his body. The results in his first game were obviously spectacular as he put up a career-best 15 catch, 166 yards performance against the Lions, but not it's up to Allen to keep it going on a week by week basis.

Allen posted a career-high 15 receptions (17 targets) for 168 yards in Sunday's 33-28 win over Detroit.

As was the case last season, Allen was used on a variety of short routes, and showed great skills in the open field, most notably on a 3rd-and-19 in the second half in which he made several defenders miss to pick up the first down. About the only mistake Allen made was when the ball bounced off his hands for a 31-yard interception return for touchdown in the second quarter, although the pass was behind him. Allen has talked about being a little out of shape during his disappointing sophomore campaign in 2014, so he took things more serious in the offseason, and the early results look great. He'll have a tougher matchup in Week 2, facing the Bengals on the road.

Allen had been the most impressive player obesrved in camp so far, the Chargers' Official website reports.

Allen is coming off of a rather disappointing second season, so any bit of positive news out of camp is good for him. At any rate, Allen is clearly the top wideout in San Diego, and he is healthy and happy heading into the season. He has a great chance to bounce back to the levels of production he put as as a rookie when he had over 1,000 receiving yard with eight touchdowns.

He's still a heavy favorite to lead the Chargers in targets and receptions, after catching 77 passes for 783 yards and four touchdowns on 121 targets (in 14 games) last year. He caught 63-of-95 targets for 936 yards and eight touchdowns over the final 12 games of his rookie season, adding another eight catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns in two playoff games.

After missing the final two games of the regular season with a broken collarbone, Allen finished 2014 with 77 receptions on 121 targets for 783 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games.

Allen's sophomore season was something of a disappointment as he tallied over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns in just 15 games as a rookie in 2013. Missing the final two games of the year did not help, but even when healthy, Allen only topped 100 yards receiving three times and his 10.2 YPC represented a pretty steep drop off from his 14.7 yard average in 2013. Heading into 2015, he is still the No. 1 option on a good offensive team, and he will no doubt be looking to rebound.
