McKelvin (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list Friday, the Bills' official website reports.
Previously placed on the preseason PUP list, McKelvin will now be ineligible for the first six weeks of the season, leaving Ronald Darby as the starter across from Stephon Gilmore. McKelvin had his protective boot removed Tuesday, but he's still only participating in light workouts.

McKelvin (ankle) had his protective boot removed Tuesday and took part in light workouts, the Olean Times Herald reports.
Coach Rex Ryan still doesn't know when McKelvin will begin regular practices. As of now, rookie Ronald Darby is set to begin the season as a starting cornerback opposite Stephon Gilmore, though Darby has been getting burned in preseason play. McKelvin might be able to swoop his job up quickly if he can get his health up to speed.

McKelvin (ankle), who has missed all of training camp, may not be ready to return for the start of the regular season, WKBW.com reports.
McKelvin experienced a setback during the offseason in his recovery from a broken ankle, and it's uncertain if he'll be available by the time Week 1 rolls around. "Well I know he's going to be back at some point. I can't tell you if he's going to be back the first game or whenever, but it's a significant injury," coach Rex Ryan said of McKelvin. Rookie Ronald Darby has taken the starting reps at cornerback opposite Stephon Gilmore in McKelvin's absence.

McKelvin has suffered a setback in his recovery from a broken ankle and is not practicing in training camp, wgr550.com reports.
McKelvin is thought to have a starting cornerback role opposite Stephon Gilmore, especially with Corey Graham moving to safety, but the injury continues to linger and rookie Ronald Darby is already turning some heads.
Mon Feb 2 201519:41McKelvin expects to be ready for OTA practices in spring
McKelvin, who suffered a fractured ankle in Week 11 and missed the rest of the season, expects to be ready for OTA practices in the spring, BuffaloBills.com reports. Said McKelvin, "I should be 100 percent probably in a month or so. By the middle of March I should be cleared. I haven't been cleared by the doctor yet for my ankle."
While the team may play it safe and keep McKelvin limited during some of the spring and summer work, it sounds like he's going to be fine for the regular season. Rex Ryan should have a good corps of corners to work with in his first season as head coach, with Stephon Gilmore, Corey Graham, and McKelvin expected to headline the group.
Mon Nov 17 201413:29McKelvin placed on injured reserve due to fractured ankle
McKelvin has been placed on injured reserve due to a fractured ankle, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
There was almost no chance McKelvin was coming back, but now he's officially done for the season. It's been a rough stretch for the veteran corner, who had a costly fumble in a key loss two weeks ago against the Chiefs, guaranteed victory in this past week's loss to the Dolphins, and now has an injury that won't allow him back on the field until 2015. Corey Graham will take over the starting duties opposite Stephon Gilmore.
Fri Nov 14 201411:37Leodis McKelvin: (Ankle) Possibly Out for Season
McKelvin has a fractured ankle and could miss the rest of the season, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
McKelvin suffered the injury in the first half of Thursday night's loss to the Dolphins. The Bills have not confirmed anything, but McKelvin could be headed for injured reserve, leaving Nickell Robey and Corey Graham as the most likely candidates to move into McKelvin's spot in the starting lineup.
Thu Nov 13 201421:57Leodis McKelvin: Exits With Ankle Injury
McKelvin will not return to Thursday's game against the Bills, after suffering an ankle injury during the first half, WGR 550 reports.
With McKelvin ruled out shortly after halftime, the Bills will likely have Nickell Robey and Corey Graham take on extra snaps. McKelvin has been a surprisingly useful IDP this season, with 46 tackles (43 solo), four interceptions, eight passes defensed and a forced fumble in nine games before Thursday's contest. However, 13 of those tackles came in Week 1, and he has since produced between 3-6 tackles in each game. McKelvin recent gained headlines for "guaranteeing" a win in Thursday's game, which is taking place just four days after he lost a crucial fourth-quarter fumble on a punt return.

McKelvin had four tackles and two interceptions in Sunday's win over Minnesota. He was on the field for 57 of the team's 64 defensive snaps, The Buffalo News reports.
McKelvin seems to have won a full-time starting job back, while being spelled only occasionally by Corey Graham as opposed to being part of a three-man rotation like he was earlier in the season. McKelvin now has 36 tackles, four picks, and five passes defensed, definitely good IDP numbers from the cornerback spot.

Through five games, McKelvin has put up 28 total tackles, three passes defensed, two interceptions, and one forced fumble.
Those are pretty good IDP numbers for a corner, especially when you consider McKelvin is splitting time for two starting corner spots amid a group of three - himself, Stephon Gilmore, and Corey Graham. McKelvin has played really well the last few weeks and saw the field for 87 percent of the team's defensive snaps in Week 5, so he might be starting to wrest some of that time away from Graham. Through five weeks, McKelvin has seen the field for 75 percent of the defensive snaps. He's also the team's main punt returner, averaging 7.6 yards on eight returns.

McKelvin did not get the start Sunday, and while he was rotated into the cornerback rotation, he only saw the field for a modest 42 percent of the defensive snaps, according to Joe Buscaglia of wgr550.com. McKelvin did have an interception and pass defensed to go with his three tackles.
The Bills have become enamored with veteran Corey Graham's play, and they let Graham play more than both Stephon Gilmore and McKelvin in this one. The team has good cornerback depth all around - Nickell Robey saw 86 percent of the defensive snaps as the Dolphins got behind and had to spread it out all afternoon - so McKelvin will continue to play a key role, but if he's not dominating the snaps it's going to limit his IDP usefulness. To illustrate, McKelvin had 13 tackles in Week 1 - a game where Gilmore was scratched with a groin injury - but had just the three this week when everyone was healthy.

McKelvin totaled 13 tackles and forced a fumble in Sunday's win over the Bears.
McKelvin picks up a decent number of tackles for a cornerback, totaling 72 in 15 games last season. He appears to be pretty much recovered from offseason hip surgery, as the team did a smart job in ramping him up for the regular season. He'll see another offense that likes to throw the ball this week when the Bills take on the Dolphins.

Coach Doug Marrone says McKelvin (hip/groin) is close to 100 percent and should be a go for this week's opener in Chicago, Joe Buscaglia of WGR Radio reports.
McKelvin, who had offseason hip surgery, was able to play a decent amount in the preseason, and it looks the team's schedule to ramp him up for Week 1 worked out well. He'll likely start at one cornerback spot, while Stephon Gilmore starts across from him and Corey Graham serves as a capable and experienced No. 3 guy.

McKelvin (hip/groin) was able to play in his first preseason game Saturday against Tampa Bay and came through fine, BuffaloBills.com reports. The veteran also practiced Monday.
McKelvin might play a few series in the preseason finale this week against the Lions, and appears set to start at corner to begin the season, opposite Stephon Gilmore.
Wed Aug 20 201410:45McKelvin (hip) left Wednesday practice with groin injury
McKelvin (hip) left Wednesday practice with a groin injury, ESPN.com reports.
McKelvin has missed both of the Bills' preseason games thus far, as he gradually returns from offseason hip surgery. The cornerback competed in both 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills in practice earlier this week, but apparently needed to exit Wednesday's session early with a groin issue. With McKelvin previously slated to see minimal action in Buffalo's remaining two exhibition contests, news of another ailment could limit him further.

McKelvin (hip), who did not play in Saturday's preseason loss at Pittsburgh, was able to participate in both 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills during Monday's practice, BuffaloBills.com reports.
He'll probably play a little over the last two preseason games, and there seems to be little chance that McKelvin would be at risk for Week 1 of the regular season, where he'll start at corner opposite Stephon Gilmore.
Thu Aug 14 201408:20McKelvin
McKelvin, coming back from offseason hip surgery, is starting to do some team work and continues to be eased back into action, BuffaloBills.com reports.
The plan is to ramp up McKelvin for the regular season, where he's expected to start across from Stephon Gilmore as the second cornerback. When and if he needs a breather, Corey Graham looks to be the third corner, plus the Bills have a pretty capable group behind the top three.
Fri Aug 8 201419:56McKelvin will miss Friday's preseason opener against Panthers
McKelvin will miss Friday's preseason opener against the Panthers, Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 reports.
McKelvin is still recovering from offseason hip surgery, and will skip the first preseason game as a result. It's unclear how long the team plans to sit McKelvin, but the injury shouldn't prevent him from playing at the start of the regular season.
