Goodwin seemed to have the best shot at landing the last receiver spot, but the injury could put that in jeopardy. The Bills have a few unproven wideouts that have done some good things in camp, receivers that are bigger and more physical than Goodwin. We'll see.

Goodwin plans on competing in the long jump at the upcoming Pan American Games, The Buffalo News reports.

The competition takes place before the Bills get going in training camp, so he won't miss any football time. Still, Goodwin continues to dabble in track and field, seemingly giving himself an option should he get cut by the Bills this season. In the meantime, he could end up anywhere from the team's No. 4 receiver and a main kick return man to being out of football if the new coaching staff views him as the previous regime did.

Goodwin did not qualify for the IAAF World Championships in the long jump, the Associated Press reports.

The IAAF championships are scheduled for Aug. 22-30, but Goodwin narrowly missed out on a spot, which means he won't have any conflict with training camp and the preseason. He may need to compete for a roster spot, as Sammy Wakings, Percy Harvin, Robert Woods and Chris Hogan all appear to be ahead of Goodwin in the pecking order for targets.

Goodwin will compete in the long jump at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, which may eventually present a conflict with training camp, WGR 500 reports.

If Goodwin finishes in the top three and meets the IAAF qualification mark of 8.10 meters, he'll be eligible for the World Championships in Beijing, scheduled for Aug. 22-30. Given that he could be on the roster bubble, Goodwin may have a tough decision to make. He's a better long jumper than football player, but from a financial perspective it probably makes sense to do whatever is necessary to stay on an NFL roster. Regardless of how this shakes out, Goodwin is highly unlikely to have a key role in the Buffalo offense this year.

Goodwin has made a good impression with his offseason work under new receivers coach Sanjay Lal, BuffaloBills.com.

This isn't the first time the speed demon has received praise from coach Rex Ryan or his coaching staff this offseason. While that should always be taken with a grain of salt, Goodwin, a third-round pick in the 2013 draft, has never really shown the football skills to match his world class speed. So there's still some potential upside if everything came around. At this point, we're probably just talking about him being a better bet to make the team, with guys like Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Percy Harvin, and Chris Hogan ahead of him.

Goodwin is active for Sunday's game against the Browns.

Goodwin will receive the active status in favor of fellow receiver Mike Williams, who hasn't caught a pass since Week 5. Goodwin figures to work behind Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods and Chris Hogan in the passing attack, however, so he likely isn't a high-percentage fantasy option, especially considering the fact that he's been targeted just six times this season.

Goodwin, who had been listed as probable for Monday's game against the Jets, is listed as inactive.

This might be a coach's choice instead of an injury, as the Bills have really struggled in the red zone and Mike Williams is a better option than Goodwin there.
