With Morgan Burnett sitting Sunday due to a calf injury, Hyde will get the opportunity to contribute in a starting role. Considering that Burnett has been a top defensive back IDP option over the past few seasons, Hyde should see plenty of opportunities to rack up tackles in Burnett's stead. The third-year player should also be available to contribute in the punt return game.

Hyde is listed as both a starting safety and the primary kick returner on the Packers' first depth chart of the preseason, Todd McMahon of the Associated Press reports.
Hyde impressed during his first professional season last year, and he has parlayed his success into a couple key roles early in training camp. Sat May 31 201413:41Hyde has a chance to hold of Clinton-Dix
ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky said the idea that second-year DB Micah Hyde could hold off first-round S Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix "should not be completely discounted."
This comes after Hyde opened OTAs as the first-team safety. It is clear the Packers' coaching staff likes Hyde and wants him on the field, but it seems highly unlikely he is able to hold off a player as talented as Clinton-Dix. We still expect Clinton-Dix to open the season as the starter with Hyde playing as the slot corner in sub packages.

Second-year DB Micah Hyde opened OTAs as the Packers' first-team free safety.
Hyde will eventually cede the job to first-rounder Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, but his position to open the spring is notable after Hyde focused on slot corner as a rookie. The 2013 fifth-round value pick figures to end up as Green Bay's No. 3 safety and No. 4 cornerback. He's also the Packers' kick and punt returner.
