With preliminary reports suggesting that Jamaal Charles suffered a torn ACL on Sunday, Davis figures to be in line for an expanded role in the Chiefs' offense moving forward, the Kansas City Star reports.

Assuming that Charles does indeed miss extended time, as expected, Charcandrick West and Davis are next up for the team's carries. With that in mind, coach Andy Reid noted in the wake of Charles' injury that the two would continue to split time, though it's worth noting that on Sunday, West finished the day with 31 yards on seven carries, while Davis carried the ball just twice for two yards. "I'm not saying who is or is not the feature guy, but we need both of them," Reid noted, with reference to the team's potential West/Davis backfield duo. "Both their games are different. We'll just see how that goes. You saw both of them played today, so we'll got back to the drawing board on that and get it right." While this fluid situation plays out, both West and Davis are worthy of serious pursuit in leagues where they remain available, with West perhaps the higher percentage play, at least based on Week 5's box score, but not necessarily a lock to dominate the team's carries, given Davis' previous experience filling in for Charles in the past.

Davis gained just two yards on a pair of carries in Sunday's game against the Bears.

Davis received a carry for the first time since Week 2, as starter Jamaal Charles left the game with a knee injury. It is feared that Charles tore his ACL on Sunday, which would thrust Davis and teammate Charcandrick West into more prominent roles in the offense. West received eight touches on Sunday, and has seemingly overtaken Davis on the depth chart, despite the latter being listed as such. It is unclear at the moment which player will start next week, when the Chiefs travel to Minnesota.

Davis didn't touch the ball Sunday against the Bengals.

Davis didn't even see the fieldoffensively for the Chiefs on Sunday, with workhorse Jamaal Charles taking 79 percent of the snaps. It's the second straight week that he's gone without an offensive snap, and it appears Davis will see little-to-no action unless Charles gets hurt.

Davis suffered a minor ankle injury in Monday's contest, resulting in his temporary removal from the game. He did return later, but the Chiefs went with better pass-catching options due to trailing the entire second half.

He was considered questionable to return, but was back there to receive a kickoff in the third quarter, so apparently it's nothing serious.

Jamaal Charles dominated the snaps and touches, but Davis vultured an eight-yard touchdown after his teammate carried the ball on four of the previous five plays. While still a valuable handcuff, Davis rarely sees the field unless Charles needs a quick breather.

Davis compiled 16 yards rushing on six carries and 12 yards receiving on one catch in Sunday's game against the Texans.

Considering Davis sits behind Jamaal Charles on the depth chart, it's not a huge surprise he saw just seven touches on the day. He saw 18 snaps on the day, and should continue to see limited action unless Charles would suffer an injury. However, he remains one of the best handcuffs in the league if that should happen.

Davis didn't carry the ball in Friday's preseason game against the Titans, but did catch two passes on three targets for 17 yards.

Davis saw the field for just six total snaps, and most of those came in situations where it appears the team was just testing his pass-catching skills. He's reportedly improved in that aspect this season, and remains a viable handcuff should Jamaal Charles be forced to miss time.

Davis carried the ball 11 times for 29 yards and caught two passes for six yards in Friday's preseason game against the Seahawks.

With Charles receiving most of the night off, the Chiefs once again turned to Davis in the backfield. He didn't parlay the extra time into much offensively, averaging just 2.6 yards per carry. Davis will continue to serve as the team's backup running back, but won't have much fantasy value with Charles healthy.

Davis left Saturday's preseason game in Arizona due to a knee injury, but the injury was evidently minor based on Davis' presence at practice Monday. He approaches the coming season in line to remain Jamaal Charles' top backup.

No official timetable has been placed on Davis at this point, but the Chiefs will likely take all precautions to ensure he's healthy before returning. The severity of the sprain is a bit unclear at this point, but if it were to carry over into the regular season, Charcandrick West would likely be the favorite to back up Jamaal Charles.

Although the severity of the ailment isn't known, Davis may have been removed for precautionary reasons. Expect the Chiefs to clarify his status in the aftermath of the contest, in which he recorded four carries for 23 yards.

Davis rushed nine times for 23 yards in the regular season finale Sunday against the Chargers.

Davis saw a jump from the two carries he saw in Week 16, but hasn't rushed for more than 50 yards since Week 4 against the Patriots. He finishes the 2014 season with 134 carries for 463 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 3.5 yards per carry. With Jamaal Charles still under contract next season, Davis will likely again serve as the primary backup, but won't have much value if Charles is healthy. However, should Charles go down with an injury as he did early in the season, Davis has proven the ability to take on a workhorse load, rushing 70 times over a three week span for 318 yards and three touchdowns from Week 2 to Week 4.

Davis remains far behind Jamaal Charles at running back, but remains an injury away from becoming a formidable fantasy option. However, Week 17 is upcoming and Jamaal Charles will play barring something unexpected, likely meaning the end of Davis' fantasy relevance for the season.

Davis scored a pair of touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) in the third quarter of Sunday's 31-13 win over the Raiders. He finished with nine carries for 11 yards and his lone catch went for a 70-yard touchdown.

Davis was literally doing nothing until midway through the third quarter, when Jamaal Charles took a tough hit. Although Charles passed a concussion test, the Chiefs elected to go with Davis, who promptly scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown. He later used his speed, taking a short Alex Smith pass all the way to the end zone. Keep an eye on Charles' practice routine next week, in case he starts having concussion symptoms, as Davis would have tremendous value at Pittsburgh.

Jamaal Charles rarely left the field in a close game, leaving Davis with little opportunity to make an impact. One of Davis' carries went for a three-yard gain on first down, while the other went for a one-yard loss on third-and-one. Davis could see extra work in blowouts, but with the Chiefs in the midst of a tight playoff race, Charles is going to dominate the workload when healthy.

Davis rushed five times for 10 yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks.

Davis also caught one pass for eight yards in the contest. He remains a distant second to Jamaal Charles in the Chiefs' rushing attack. He does have five touchdowns on the season, but three of those came while Jamaal Charles was sidelined with an ankle injury.
