Amerson was signed by the Raiders on Tuesday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
A second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Amerson was recently released by the Redskins, after struggling badly through the first 33 games of his career. He's mostly drawn attention for his poor coverage, but the Raiders are so thin at cornerback that Amerson might eventually work his way into a significant role.

Amerson left Monday's practice due to a left shoulder injury, the Washington Post reports.
While attempting to cover DeSean Jackson on a deep route down the left sideline, Amerson broke up the pass but landed on the shoulder. Instead of allowing Amerson to continue, head coach Jay Gruden and a trainer directed the cornerback to leave the field for further evaluation. Until the results are released, Amerson's immediate availability will remain up in the air.

Fri Jun 6 201412:49Redskins coaches liken Amerson to Aqib Talib
According to NFL Network's Albert Breer, Redskins coaches have seen in second-year CB David Amerson a "facsimile of Aqib Talib."
In layman's terms, they believe Amerson is an exact copy of Talib. The Redskins are banking on a big sophomore leap from Amerson to help turn around a secondary that was shredded by quarterbacks last season. Amerson stands in at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds and has outstanding ball skills. He picked off 13 passes as a sophomore at NC State. Amerson is penned in as the stater opposite DeAngelo Hall. The Redskins' real concerns are at the safety spots.

Wed Apr 9 201408:01David Amerson penciled in as starter
The Redskins still plan to start David Amerson across from DeAngelo Hall this season.
The Skins meekly tried to upgrade their secondary in free agency, but whiffed on all their targets other than oft-burned nickel corner Tracy Porter. It leaves Amerson, last year's second-round pick, with a ton on his shoulders. Jay Gruden has said the coaches believe the rangy prospect is "ready." Until he proves it, this unit will be one to attack from a fantasy matchup perspective.

Tue Jan 28 201414:55David Amerson to get chance to start in 2014
Redskins CB David Amerson is expected to get a chance to start in 2014.
Amerson, the 51st selection in last April's draft, served as the Redskins No. 3 corner behind DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson as a rookie. Both Wilson and Hall are set to become free agents. There will likely be mutual interest between Hall and the Redskins regarding a new deal, but Wilson struggled and will probably be elsewhere. Amerson (6-foot-1, 205) has the ideal length to play outside. Washington will also be eyeing corners in free agency and the draft.

Sun Aug 4 201317:01David Amerson soaking up 1st-team reps
Second-round pick David Amerson has received more first-team reps than any cornerback in Redskins camp.
Per the Washington Post, coaches and veteran players have both described Amerson as "the most talented corner on the team." Amerson obviously doesn't lack talent, but he's still prone to peeking into the backfield, a problem that plagued him throughout last season at North Carolina State. In an ideal world, the Redskins will fix that issue and use Amerson at outside corner in all nickel packages, opposite Josh Wilson with DeAngelo Hall in the slot.
