Klein tied for a team-high 10 tackles (six solo) during Sunday's win over the Saints.
Klein made the most of his second straight start in place of Luke Kuechly (concussion), registering the first double-digit tackling performance of his three-year career Sunday. While Kuechly's probable return for Week 4 would certainly push Klein out of Carolina's middle linebacker position, he could earn more snaps at the strongside role given his recent performance.

Klein made four tackles (two solo) and intercepted a pass during Sunday's win over the Texans.
Klein was promoted to the Panthers' starting middle linebacker position in wake of teammate Luke Kuechly's concussion and did decently for himself Sunday. Although his four tackles were a fairly average total, Klein's second-half interception helped the Panthers build on their lead by scoring on the ensuing possession. Overall, Kuechly's expected return next weekend should result in Klein's snap count declining, but the substitute made a commendable impact in his start Sunday.

Klein recorded six tackles (all solo) during Sunday's season opener against the Jaguars.
Klein replaced injured teammate Luke Kuechly (concussion) during Sunday's game and fared admirably in the All Pro linebacker's absence. Overall, Klein finished third on the Panthers in tackles Sunday, which could allow him to see the field more in Week 2, even if Kuechly is cleared to return to his usual every-down role.

Klein tallied a career-best seven tackles (four solo) during Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
Klein was started at linebacker in wake of teammate Thomas Davis (hip) being ruled out and fared decently from a fantasy perspective. Should Davis remain sidelined, Klein figures to be the chief beneficiary.

Klein started at strongside linebacker and posted three tackles (two solo) while also intercepting a pass in Sunday's preseason game against the Chiefs.
Klein is currently entrenched in a position battle with Chase Blackburn (back) to start at strongside linebacker for the Panthers this season. With Blackburn sidelined Sunday, Klein received significant playing time and forced a turnover by intercepting a pass and nearly returning it for a touchdown. The second-year player may have pulled ahead in the race to start, but the Panthers' two remaining preseason games will provide more room for evaluation.
Fri Jun 20 201418:19A.J. Klein learning all three linebacker spot
Panthers second-year LB A.J. Klein is learning all three linebacker spots.
Klein is competing with Chase Blackburn for the starting weak-side linebacker job, and also backing up Luke Kuechly. He was mostly limited to special teams as a rookie, but held his own in two starts and is a candidate for an expanded role. Kuechly and Thomas Davis play in nickel packages, so Klein will have a two-down role if he beats out Blackburn.

Mon Jan 20 201415:16A.J. Klein may receive chance to start
Panthers second-year LB A.J. Klein is expected to get a chance to start in 2014.
He'd most likely push journeyman WLB Chase Blackburn at weak-side linebacker. A 2013 fifth-round pick out of Iowa State, Klein held up well in two rookie-year starts. He's still unlikely to make a serious IDP dent next season.
